Unironicly going to buy a hi point and turn it into a nice pistol as a project

>going to have custom wood grips made for it
>replace the shitty Phillips head screws for normal ones
>going to polish the slide and barrel block
>going to have a gunsmith machine and install better night sights

what do you think Jow Forums?

Why not save up for a nicer gun that has all that without the constant jamming?

If you polish up the feed ramp, hi points are actually remarkably reliable

Ive seen kimbers jam more than hi points

Polishing turds doesnt sound like a fun pass time for me but to each his own, OP

>without the constant jamming?
Have you ever shot a hi point, or actually looked into them? They're pretty reliable.

Can’t polish a turd

>but you can roll it in glitter

Do it.
Will you scrape off the cheap paint finish and have it cerakoted or something?

Hi-Points have a top-heavy balance, and awkward recoil, which makes it easy to limpwrist them, but if you get used to them, they really run pretty well.

Besides, he's clearly just doing this as a stupid and fun thing to do, just because, and I encourage that.

Kimber is such a garbage brand IMO.

yep , i'm doing it for the lulz, i got other better handguns for actual defensive use (Glock,Walther and even Taurus)

going for the weird simple german simson blowback pistol look, except for the grip angle

Attached: index.jpg (285x177, 7K)

I wouldn't call it a turd.
A turd would be like a Ring Of Fire junkomatic like a Jimenez or something, outright dangerous and badly designed.
Comparatively, a Dan Wesson 1911 would be like a really nice pork sausage made with some good ground meat and real entrails for casing, while a Hi-Point would be like a cheap hotdog, made from scrap meat, and a 'synthetic' (yet edible) casing.

>The Dan Wesson sausage is a pleasure to eat, you enjoy ever second, every scrap of it, it's nutritious and delicious.
>The Hi-Point Hotdog is ok with a bun and some mustard, it's really not great, in fact, the flavor is kind of funky, but you CAN eat it, even if it's not a great meal. It's cheap and it fills you.
>The Jimenez Dogturd; don't pick it up off the street and put it in your mouth, that's not safe or healthy.

Neva been dun befo

In all seriousness, though; have fun with it. One of the most common complaints I hear is the trigger. Maybe do something about that? I dunno; I shot one once and it was comfy shooting for me and my spider hands.

After you revamp it you should compete with it. Idk much about competitive shooting and the types of events but I can only imagine how crushing it would be to lose to a guy with a hipoint if they’re using something 1000$+

maybe i should, if i can safely get the trigger down to 2lbs

They make aftermarket triggers for them, I think it's called the Rat Rod trigger or something

>polishing zamak
>paying a gunsmith more than the cost of the pistol to install night sights

it's a meme build senpai, doing it cause of boredom and wanting a simson but not having the funds for a crazy simple blow back 9mm from the 1930's

Scrape off the funk finish and parkerize that bitch!

Hardwood grip panels.

Actually looking forward to seeing this. You should opt for one of the fuckhuge .45 versions

Can you parkerize zinc alloy?

Lighten up the slide and watch it go full nuke.

put a dress, a wig, and lipstick on a pig.
it's still just a pig.

A fun pig, though.

Your mother isn’t that fun actually

Follow your dreams.
>not enjoying a slampig
Nigga you gay.

Just save up and get a GLAWK FORTAY

In all seriousness, my hi-point runs fine. I'm not really use to shooting it since I don't shoot it often.

Attached: 20171001_125459.jpg (2308x1298, 941K)

my first pistol in my poorfag days was a hi-point c9, that thing jammed once every ~100 rounds at best

But it’s never going to stop being a blowback

Go for it OP. I'm going to do the same thing. Have the slide and grips coated. Have the serrations touched up so it's easier to chamber a round. New sights.

This guy makes hardwood and laminate grips for hipoints.

iberiaxtras.com/iberia-accessories-optic-mount
What gucci competition gun is complete without a mount for an overpriced optic that costs more than the gun even though it's unmagnified and you shoot it at 25m? note: seems to fit only the glock 40 and 45 calibers of hipoint.

Is it zinc alloy? Holy hell!
Duracoat parkerize kit then.

Yeah, the slide is made out of a zinc alloy casting (zamak, specifically, typically used in toys, sometimes used to make diabolo airgun pellets), as well as with embedded steel reinforcement plates.
They outsource the manufacturing of these to various autoplants in their area, which lets them do it for pretty cheap, which is great, because zamak is a very cheap alloy.

Compare to Jimenez .25ACP pistols, also made from zamak, but not with any kind of reinforcement plates. They don't rarely blow out their breech block out the back of the slide, breaking the gun (though at .25ACP pressures, it's not too dangerous, I guess).
The steel reinforcement plates make a difference, and the actual amounts of zamak used for Hi-Point slides (and bolts) is pretty hefty.

It's like a twinkie of zamak and steel. The Hi-Point really is well calculated to use the cheapest materials and mechanics plausible to make a gun that just works enough. Rated for +P, actually.

Attached: zamak ingots.jpg (500x500, 306K)

You can polish it up a lot, but the base design is ugly because it's designed for pure simplicity. Cheapest components, cheapest materials. They're fuck huge because they are made with a cheap zinc. This allows them to handle the pressures, but to make it safe it's gotta be bigger than your prom date. I wouldn't say it's particularly interesting, but I understand the sentiment. Pic related is me doing the same to a Chiappa M1

Attached: IMG_20171222_163413.jpg (4096x3072, 2.33M)

The Chiappa carbines I understand are supposed to be very shitty. What are you doing to fix it?

>>Harbor freight gloves
>>Poorfag workbench
>>Shit taste in guns

Opinion discarded.

Attached: 1525798445611.jpg (1838x2048, 157K)

Basically I just did some minor cosmetic improvements. I replaced the original stock with a paratrooper cut right. Replaced the factory rear sight with a proper GI (the factor one is secured by a single screw that drives into the aluminum receiver and thus every Chiappa M1 comes with a canted rear sight that will wiggle loose after 500 rds), replaced the plastic bayonet lug with a proper GI so I can use a bayonet now. Just mostly polish to make it better. Let me see if I can dig up a newer photo, this one still has the bad lug/sight. They aren't great guns, but if Chiappa put in the effort they'd be a lot more loved. Either way it was a fun cheap project.

Attached: IMG_20171221_220314.jpg (4096x3072, 2.41M)

How does it work though? I hear they're complete jam-o-matics that typically require gunsmithing out of the box to not misfeed.

So here's the original product if anyone cares. Chiappa fucked up a lot on all fronts with it. They could have adopted the regular M1 system to 9mm relatively easy, but they went cheap and did direct blowback. It's basically just a slightly better hipoint carbine. But that's not all those Spaghetti fucks did. They converted everything to metric, without doing proper changes so almost no USGI parts will fit with these without you doing some modification (despite their promises that it would). Then there's the rear sight which they did as I said with a single screw which again CANTS ALL THEIR REAR SIGHTS FROM THE FUCKING FACTORY. Then there's the stock, which is actually pretty good quality wood. And the plastic bayonet lug, why oh why, 1) the bayonet lug can't fit bayonets since it's not to spec, 2) bayonet lugs are not mandatory on M1s they already supply a decent metal ring, why skimp on this? It's just so confusing and wrong.

It's just a direct blowback 9mm carbine, you've seen one you've seen them all. It's not very jammy desu, but the springs on guns like this come stiff as fuck from the factory. Generally recommended to buy some harder hitting stuff to break in.

Forgot my pic.

>It's just a direct blowback 9mm carbine, you've seen one you've seen them all
I've seen plenty of written and video recorded reviews where the gun just refuses to cycle any and all ammo they try, cheap 115gr aluminum case ball, and 147gr +P, the thing just can't go through a magazine without choking multiple times for most people, it seems.

>They could have adopted the regular M1 system to 9mm relatively easy
A gas piston and rotating bolt really would be beyond overkill for 9mm Luger, I can see why they would make it a blowback gun.

>I've seen plenty of written and video recorded reviews where the gun just refuses to cycle any and all ammo they try, cheap 115gr aluminum case ball, and 147gr +P, the thing just can't go through a magazine without choking multiple times for most people, it seems.
Hmm odd mine has handled most of what I've thrown at her just fine, 1 or 2 FTF's but other than mostly good. I would probably guess it would perform a bit better if they left the bolt locked back overnight and ran some +P through it.

>A gas piston and rotating bolt really would be beyond overkill for 9mm Luger, I can see why they would make it a blowback gun.
Oh I agree 100%, but it has been done before, would have made the gun lighter and would have been compatible with a lot more parts. It's more of a dream thing than I think they would have.

This guy reminds me of a Civic owner.

Except civic modding is unironic.

That's not going to turn it into a nice pistol. You're pissing away money to make something stupid. If you're into that kind of thing, go for it.

Ironically sticking your dick in a pig with lipstick is just as retarded as doing it seriously.

>You're pissing away money to make something stupid
That's his point, it's a joke, a gag gun.

It's still going to be shit to shoot, and after the very shortlived novelty wears off, he'll be stuck with a shit gun.
Personally I'd get like a p64 or something for about the same price and mod that if I had that itch that needed to be scratched.

Gonna be honest, I'd much rather have a polished up Hi-Point than a P64.

That's because you have nigger taste.
A p64 can be a backup carry gun and looks nice. A hi point is good for basically nothing but being a nigger's problem solver.

The P64 is diminutive and tiny, with a trigger several times the weight of the gun, fuck that noise.

A Hi-Point is hardly glorious or nice, but it can at least be had in 9mm Luger, .40S&W and .45ACP, with a full grip, and while the trigger isn't good, I don't have to put nearly as much strength into it.

Once you have worked all the kinks out post the spell for others to try.

If you got the time and money, go for it, post pics of it when you’re done

Does that comp work well?

Been Done. Check out the salient arms "Ultimate Hi Point".

Attached: copper piping.png (1692x884, 1.55M)

Big surprise

lol youre a fucking idiot!

>The P64 is tiny
No shit. That's why it makes a good backup carry gun.
>with a trigger several times the weight of the gun
The da trigger is absolute shit, yes. Better with wolff springs, but still shit. Sa is fine though.

The p64 being so small gives it some purpose. The hi point doesn't really serve any purpose though, unless you're too poor to afford literally anything else.

I've bought some shitty guns in my time but I still wouldn't throw money at a hi point even just for the entertainment value of having one.

I think it would be cool if somebody made a carbine conversion kit for it, like on glocks. But I think the barrel is fixed, so it might be an issue...

I kinda want to do the same for shits and giggles

It's already been done to an extreme.
youtu.be/KjQk244oW9c

There is nothing wrong with hipoints or like hipoints. If it's a choice between defending yourself with a hipoint or a knife, what are you going to choose?
>Well the hipoint, but I'd rathe-
Not what I'm asking. Unless you would rather a non firearm to defend yourself, don't call any functional firearm shit.
I swear to God, these summerfucks talk shit about hipoints cause of old memes, meanwhile the only gun they own is made by red Ryder.
T. user who owned a 90s hipoint back in 94 and bought more since

that was an unexpectedly great video

I have 20 guns and think hipoints are complete shit that only serve the purpose of being better than nothing for poor people.

just buy this

Hey op,

Good luck.

I want to grab a C9 and tinker with it myself.

Post results when done!

its purpose is to entertain the OP with his money.

At a far better dollar per fun/gun ratio than most gay ass guns fags worship like the SCAR
at least its not a navy seal LARP

Name all 20 of your guns.

Let's find the shittiest one.

It would be like polishing a turd

The shittiest one is a sccy cpx-1 I got for free from my sister.
Shittiest I actually bought is probably my savage 775a I got for $50.

Something like this.

Attached: image.jpg (700x700, 32K)

Hi-points don't jam unless you feed them blazer (which is cheap, so makes sense for poorfags to feed an already cheap gun)

My Hi-point .45 hasn't jammed once in 2,000 rounds of federal 230g without cleaning. It's a beater gun I got for free to I did this just for lulz. They're shitty guns but they're reliable. My brother who owned it before me had jams with blazer cheap ammo

I kinda want one too. Best car gun or bury for gun ban gun.

Honestly, the carbines are so cheap, and they generally work better than the pistols (because it's a lot harder to limpwrist something when you can shoulder it), that many people just buy both. I don't think you could make any great savings on it.

I don't think magazines are fully interchangeable between carbines and pistols, however, which is a bit of a shame.

>blazer
blazer is fine... it is probably a feed angle issue with the projectile..
only if you make molds of the slide and can cast zinc for when the Zamak-3 parts eventually fail...

literally just a waste of money. try being less retarded

Blazer seems to just kind of depend on your individual gun in question, some seem to like it, some don't.
Aluminum case is an odd beast, I guess.

Yeah, let's never do stupid shit for fun.

Get out of Jow Forums.

Bury it in abs tubing and a ziplock bad with o2 removers covered in oil.

no, I'm just not enjoying a hand grenade

Attached: boom.jpg (1000x583, 22K)

That's a piece of copper pipe they brazed or glued onto the muzzle of the Hi-Point.
They then fed it .38 Special cartridges handloaded with a mix of blackpowder and smokeless powder, the "port" on the extension breathes a lot of fire, from this, but eventually the weld/glue breaks and the pipe flops off.

The gun still works after this senseless abuse.

that is what they were designed to be retard.

And that isn't the gun exploding or anything, that's just the crazy load spraying fire, presumably with the action opening too early, no doubt rupturing the case (which isn't even headspaced for this gun, being a .38 Special), at worst spraying some brass splinters out the ejection porn.

I'd be surprised if this killed the thing.
Hi-Points are like Ocean Sunfish, they're fat, dense, and just kind of keep going, even if they're floating sideways on the surface and seagulls are landing on it's side and picking chunks out of it.
The flesh isn't very nutritious, but hey, it's a fish, and it lives.

Attached: 1200px-Sunfish2.jpg (1200x979, 213K)

What magazine is that for the glock? i have a factory 33 rounder but it doesn't look like that.

It's a kriss vector extension. They only make it for the 21, but it fits the 20/40 mags with simple work.

True that. Considering a lot of people have the money to do so. I just thought that it would be a good piece for a minimalist way of thinking (as long as it stays a carbine).

Like those threads where people ask about a good gun, but they only have like $100-$195 to spend.

What a coincidence. I bought a Hi-Point today, too.

Attached: Hot-Point.jpg (4656x2218, 2.78M)

these are not bad guns... also i did like everyone said, polish the feet ramp, my ejector was also fucked, so i filed it down, i actually like the trigger and reset, i also recommend not wasting your gun oil on these since engine oil will do just fine... did i mention the grips are shit?

We had this thread about 3 months ago, did you fucking build it already?
>Pic unrelated

OP here, that thread wasn't posted by me, i'm currently trying to score a hi point c9 on gunbroker for 60$
