Single Action Revolver Thread

Let’s see some wheelguns. Here are my two newest acquisitions.

Don't own an SA revolver, but I've got a nice N-frame.

And a picture of an SAA I happen to have on my HD.

One day I’ll buy me a double action. I have my eye on a Chiappa Rhino.

Guess it's a Ruger.
Anyway more horn grip.

I dig the aesthetic of those things but they are quite expensive and I heard the alloy frames don't hold up too well.

Does any user have first-hand experience with them?
Personally I really want to get my mitts on a Frenchie Manurhin MR-73 someday. At least shoot one.

>single action revolver thread
>more than half the pictures are of double actions
Great thread guys

Manurhinmind.

Also my first true love, Ruger Security Six.

I just don't have a lot of SA revolver photos on my HD, this is the only other one.

Don't have a pic, but I picked up an Old Vaquero in .44 Mag for about $400

They are far too expensive for what they are. But you know, niche interest means lower production runs which leads to higher retail price. I’ve heard people shitting on them for the alloy frame and the seam, but you know unless you’re shooting crazy loads from the thing it should be fine. The important parts are steel.

Nice.

I see people listing .44s dirt cheap on classified ads all the time. Typically some beer belly dad buys one because he thinks it's cool, buys a single box of ammo at Cabella's (because it's expensive), shoots 6 rounds and then puts it back in the safe until he suddenly needs money for something else and it's the first thing to go.

Attached: IMG_5578.jpg (3264x2448, 2.4M)

also comes in detective special size.

Attached: mr732.jpg (640x427, 131K)

I got it from a local shop that I help on occasion (mostly appraisals because I have gun autism and usually know what I'm looking at). They said the guy who brought it in was, in fact, a beer belly dad who thought it was cool.

Honestly, I bought it for the same reason, and they gave me a decent deal. It also goes with my .44 Mag Deagle Brand Deagle.

Tell me about them OP! They look really slick!

sup Jow Forums

I don't come to this board as I normally shitpost on Jow Forums or /mu/ or /o/, but I've been wanting to get a gun for a while. I want to get a revolver mainly because I like the look of the revolver.

my question for you guys is, what is the thinkpad (or civic si for $3k) of revolvers?
>built to last
>great looks
>easy to maintain
>reasonably priced
>parts are abundant and easy to find

ps I checked the sticky and they had nothing on revolvers

Thoughts on Uberti 1873?

Uberti are supposedly good. Italians tend to make good guns. Mine are Piettas. Apparently they are cheaper quality than Uberti, but desu, these things have a really smooth action and a clean trigger. The price was reasonable too compared to Ruger Vaqueros.

Nice.

>3k Civic Revolver
Ruger Security 6 or Ruger GP100 by a wide margin. S&W is the "nicer" gun but they don't last nearly as long nor are they as cheap.

No, you don't have your eye on one of those. If you're gonna splurge, splurge on a quality revolver.

All these double actions make me fucking sick.

This.
I still have my Security Six, which I bought when I turned 21. I've run thousands of rounds through it, including some REALLY sketchy hand-loads. It still shoots exactly like it did the day I took it home from the LGS in a shoe box.

You absolutely cannot go wrong.

>wheelguns
every time i see this
i automatically see someone with a speech impediment trying to say "real guns"

This barely counts

So after going through some medical difficulties and having to sell about everything I owned I'm finally back up on my feet with a tiny bit of spending cash. I've only owned semis when it comes to handguns and truthfully I didn't put forth the effort in maintaining them. I really want to learn a starter gun inside and out and revolvers strike me as a good place to start. Can any one recommend a SA for less than 500 that I can blow thousands of cheap rounds through and learn to take care of myself?

>a SA for less than 500

That would be a Glock.

>that I can blow thousands of cheap rounds through and learn to take care of myself?

again, GLOCK!

Ruger Blackhawk. Cheap and abundant as fuck. You can usually find one for about $400ish.

Looking at the Uberti Schofields in .45. Are they good enough quality? What about barrel length? I can't decide between the 7-inch or the 5-inch barrel lengths.

I'm a fan of the 5 inch

>/327/ federal.
How expensive is .327?

Is the Super Blackhawk the best .44 Mag revolver?

how many rounds and what caliber?

Freedom arms is better. If you really want to bring a blackhawk up to speed, you’re going to need to ream chamber throats, true up the cylinder face and the forcing cone face, add a free-spin pawl, add washers to the hammer and trigger, swap out the cylinder base pin and polish the sear surfaces. Springs are up to you. Now, this isn’t to say the blackhawk is a bad revolver, but if you want the only single-action you’re ever going to own be a blackhawk, it’s worth it to go through this list to eliminate any possible issues.

Almost forgot to mention checking for endshake. Lots of little things, sure, but if you get a blackhawk truly fit & finished early it’ll last that way a lot longer and be moderately more accurate depending on how ‘perfect’ the one you bought is.

thanks guys I'll keep that in mind. Two of my friends are taking me to the range next week (I've never shot before) so I'll keep an eye out for one

Here's all but one of my single actions. I need to take a nicer photo of the Remington conversion.

Uberti 1847 Walker. I haven't picked up any accessories to go with the Walker yet, so here it is alongside a 4" S&W Model 10 for a size comparison.

Cimarron 1858 Remington Cartridge Conversion. This, the Schofield and Model P are all chambered in .45 Colt.

Here's my last single action revolver - a S&W Model 1-1/2 Second Issue. This is chambered for .32 Rimfire and was made sometime in the early 1870's. Still wearing its original rosewood grips.

Attached: IMG_1696.jpg (4272x2848, 2.07M)

It is a tip-up revolver, so the cylinder is removed to load it. The rod under the barrel is used to poke out the fired cases.

Always a good thread when you show up. Have you ever had to deal with a stuck base pin on a true SAA copy? My Friend has a uberti copy I believe and that thing is fucking frozen

Hey, total /nogunz/ here, getting ready to buy my first gun this tuesday. I like the idea of revolvers so I figured this would be the thread to ask. I'm getting pic related, is there anything I need to know about for my initial purchase? I'm already getting a case, ear protection, and eye protection. Are there any basic maintenance products I should pick up day 1?

If the pic isn't recognizable enough, it's a .22 rough rider. Just something cheap I can practice my aim with before I get something nice.

I'm probably going to get a Walker soon, can't wait for the adventure I'll have with the lever catch.

I got some on sale from PSA for under $.30/round. It’s usually around twice that. I’ve been saving brass to start reloading. What I’ve also found with my single seven is that 32 S&W long is fun as fuck to shoot out of it and is a lot cheaper. 32acp was also working pretty well for me.

I'd get a boresnake, CLP and some cotton patches to start. If you pick up one of those .22 cleaning kits you'll get a rod and probably anything else you'll need.

this barely counts more

you carry .327
you shoot reloaded .32 shorts for ~14 CPR

I bought one of those a little while ago and I love mine, it's a perfect little plinker for $100-140.00)

For this pistol, I've heard only one negative thing which was the sights were slightly off, which could be fixed by bending, but mine is dead on.

Before you buy it, take it apart (pull the cylinder out, or have the gun store guy do it if your not sure) and just give it a once over, make sure theres no metal shavings, burrs, defects, etc. some people like to clean their guns before they shoot them (new or not). But just make sure theres no obstruction. Otherwise, other than your case (preferably locking), ears, and eyes, (and ammo), get a small pistol cleaning kit, just a rod, or a snake (only thing to keep in mind cleaning is to be careful you don't damage the crown, otherwise you fuck up the accuracy of the pistol)
