My friend picked up a full auto mp43, and let me put 200 rounds through it just last night.
It felt natural and comfortable. Gun was very controllable while mag dumping in full auto. The problem I had was that it would get hot, but that is only the nature of the beast.
We fired 3 mags through it, shot some pistols while letting it cool, then fired another 3 mags. We repeated this until we were out of ammo.
Towards the end I could barely hold onto the mag well.
I'll bring gloves next time.

97's can run the gambit, and the action is a clunky pile of ass, but properly cleaned and greased they can actually run quite nicely, I've got a 16ga takedown 1916 vintage and it's lovely. it's nowhere near as smooth as some of browing's later actions like the Ithica 37/remmy 17, but it's still pretty nice for something browing put out in 1893, makes me appreciate how far we've come since then.

Gotta disagree. Ive put a few hundred rounds through one. Would not be my first, second or even third choice for defense, but its a great longer rsnge target shooting guns, and who doesnt like more capacity? If they were $800 id probably have 2 at this point, but Im not dropping 13 bills on one when I can buy a legit micro-uzi for that same stack and not spend $0.50/round either.

I'd been shooting .45-70 a good amount prior that day and the owner kinda sold the Beowulf as even more of a spectacle. It felt cheap, like it didn't belong with the platform. It was two sided because I went expecting to love the Beowulf and dislike the .45-70, and ended up the opposite.
They're okay to shoot, but the first time picking one up was weird. Huge but light plastic gun that felt like airsoft. Definitely didn't feel like what they were asking for it.
