Rate That Bullet: 45-70

So Jow Forumsommandos. Would you consider 45-70 Govt to be the Chad round? If not what else would you consider to be so? And would you rate 45-70 up there highly with the big bois?

I am dreaming of that 45-60

I'd rather have something in 450 bushmaster but that's just me. 45-70 government is the only government I trust though.

If you get a thumper, do .458 SOCOM or .50 Beowulf. Both are superior to .450 bushmaster.

Seems like a fun cartridge but I won’t touch it unless I can genone of those 45-70 revolvers or a bolt gun in it.

Fuck leverguns.

literally why

I've heard .45-70 is the only round to kill a man without going through his ballistic vest.
I'd say that's pretty fucking Chad

I think I heard that aswell. If I remember in Alabama two Sheriffs were actually coming to arrest a guy based on a warrant, apparently the guy was prepared and to make a short story short, the guy had a Marlind 1895, the bullet didn't penetrate the vest but it fractured one of the Sheriff's chests to the point it put the vest inside of him.

Yeah that's the story, broke his fucking ribcage from the force alone.
Considering .45-70's characteristics I'd say it's plausible

I’ve heard it’s rest for hunting pigs

It’s pretty awesome, I’ve had a ton of fun with mine.

I prefer the original .45-70. A .445 round ball backed by 70 grains of 2f. Much cheaper to shoot.

>Would you consider 45-70 Govt to be the Chad round?

yes also .577 snider, 577-450, 30.06, 338. 50bmg, 44mag and 270

a wise man once said: it's the only government you can trust

All these 45-70 threads make me think something fishy is going on...

>inb4 space force adoption considered

Would have a flat trajectory in space...

>Brass is off-spec to fuck reloaders
Come on, Hornady.

I-I-I'm not making 45-70 threads to make the Space Force consider a semi-auto in 45-70....hehe haha.

I'm buying a JM marked Marlin 1895 GBL on Thursday. Barely used, with Skinner peep sight/firesight front, aftermarket trigger and follower. Pretty keen.

>500 gr Buffalo bore bullets
>Marlin .45-70 is under $600
You can't go wrong.

I so badly want a CZ Safari in .45-70. I'd imagine having one custom done would cost more than my monthly salary, though.

Are new Marlins still trash? I want a marlin 1895

Consider THIS, chad boi.

From 2014-2016 1895's were pretty lame-o. But Marlin fixed up their new equipment and have gone back to making pretty good lever guns again. But of course always check before you buy.

...would it break my wrist? This looks like the ultimate glovebox gun.

Are you still going to put that thing together?
You weren't inspired by Ian's *What if* scenario about the US adopting lever actions on mass were you?

Gbl is fucking sexy, i love mine.

>You weren't inspired by Ian's *What if* scenario about the US adopting lever actions on mass were you?
huh?

Any source? Thats pretty fucking crazy,
I wonder what he was using for ammo

Literally just picked this up a day ago. Can’t wait to go shoot it. Definitely a good looking gun though.

45/70 the only government you can trust.

These anons know whats what.

If I recall correctly it was those Silver Tips Winchester makes, or as I like to call Werewolf Killers.

>45-70
>338 lapua
>577 tyrannosaur
>5.7
