Pro-gun activists have mocked the survivors of the Parkland shooting and going as far as to suggest that they’re paid actors rather than legitimately grieving children.

Men are more likely to own guns because men are generally taught to be more accountable for themselves, their safety, and those they love. They're also generally taught in a good household to acquire the tools needed to navigate a broad range of possible issues that might arise, be it a broken washing machine or a break-in. So yes, I suppose that in a way, men do cling to their guns the same way you cling to a full Craftsman tool set. You might need it, so have it and be good with it.
It comes as no surprise that this tool is now under fire after decades of a relentless effort to strip men of their masculinity as a whole, seeing as hundreds of thousands of family-man-aged males don't even own a 24-piece Wally-World special tool kit.
Men fight so hard to keep these particular tools (guns) because if your pipes bust and you don't have the tools to fix it, it's no real emergency. You turn off the water and if a plumber shows up within 2 hours you're making good time. If a break-in occurs at 3 am and the police make it there in 10 minutes when 5 minutes mattered, you're fucked if you're not equipped with the tool for the job.
So yes, guns are tied into masculinity because women and children tend to be much less likely to account for their own defense.
