Help assembling a colt 1911

I am trying to assemble a Colt 1911 that belongs to my grandpa but there is one little part I can't get really right. It's the one in the picture. If anyone could please enlighte me it would make the old man's day quite better.

Never taken a 1911 apart myself, but youtube is your friend brochacho

Man, I've watched so many videos and none of them has this little part. I'm intrigued by it.

I don't know where you got it from but it's not part of a 1911.

That is not a 1911 part.
Can you give me a close up shot of your ejector? (that's the part that sticks up above the thumb safety on the slide rail)

I started to doubt it myself, but the old man is assuring me it is a part of it. It was assembled as a .22 and I am trying to assemble it as .45. I sas him dissambling it and it was inside it.

Ok, that may be part of the .22 conversion kit.
That is not used for a .45.

Make and model user

Ok, your ejector looks fine.
It just looked a bit funny in the other photo.
I'd have given you a heads up if it looked wrong.

It's part of a Colt 22 conversion kit. If you're assembling it as a 45, it won't be installed

You are right. I'll post the difference in a minute.

Don't sell this gun.
This is an original run M1911.
It looks as if it wasn't converted to the A1.

Thank you so much for your attention. My grandpa loves this gun but he got old and forgot how to assemble it properly.
He sends his regards. Thanks, lads.

Happy to help.
Say hey for us to the Jow Forumsomando.

You're a good grandson. Show us a pic of the gun assembled.

Here it is.

That's pretty. What year is it?

That's a great question. Not even my grandpa could answer it. Considering he is over 80, I can't even try to guess it accurately.

Good shit user.

Holly shit!
It is a pre-A1 M1911.
Nice gun.
Look here to find the date of manufacture: sightm1911.com/1911Production.htm

You can tell based off of the serial number

Fucking rare.

This user is playing with a 100 year old gun with Colt custom shop grips.
I bet he'd give birth to a brick if he had any idea what it was worth.

My grandpa would shoot anybody before selling it.

I agree that you and he shouldn't think about it.
You should get it appraised and get it under your insurance though.
You have in you possession a collectors piece that's probably over $2500.
Thanks for sharing images of it.

I don't have it with me now, but I promised him I would take him shooting tomorrow. I will recored videos.
Is this weapon worth money?

Looks like a newish muzzle loader shotgun so probably not. Need more info though, like what markings are on it.

Based on what I see in that image, I'd say it's worth enough to look into.
Side-by-side muzzle loader that uses caps.
Rifle or shotgun? (rifle would be worth more)
Any maker's mark you can find?
Honestly, black powder is outside my field of knowledge but it's rare enough that it's worth investigating.
If you lived in the Puget Sound area, I'd know exactly who you should see.
It's very pretty though.
The carving on the stock is very nice.

It's a rifle, user. Good to hear. Thanks for the attention.

One thing to know, Side by side rifles are hard to make.
No one makes a cheap one.
Whether it's a new production or an older one, it was pricey.

You're a good kid user.

Hope to see those videos user. You are good egg.

This is the best thread I've seen in a long time
