Are gun shows pretty much obsolete these days? When I first got into shooting I loved them, I went to 5 or 6 a year but now I may go to only 1 or 2. My reason being is because each one I go to is the exact same dude in the exact same place selling the exact same over priced shit. There's always a table of foreign dudes selling Chinese made knives and taser. There is the dude selling ammo at almost criminal high levels and people stupid enough to buy it. There are gimmick stuff like dragons breath and other home made shotgun shells. It just seems to have gotten boring and pointless since most of everything there I can online half the price usually.

Services like Gunbroker and Armslist killed the gunshow "good deal."

Sometimes you’ll see something neat

I go to gunshows mostly to see the zoo of weirdos that are there. Then I try to remind myself that the weirdest person I saw is still more normal than the normalist person on Jow Forums.

gun shows in my state always have some pretty good deals. a lot of the vendors there are old retired boomers that travel around to all the gun shows in the state and trade guns for profit, they don't want to sell online or out of state because they'd have to get a dealers license and keep records and shit plus the internet is scary to them. i live in one of the poorest areas of the country as well so they will trade/sell shit cheap especially if you buy multiple things from them. last one i went to i was looking for a jm stamped pre side safety marlin 336 and they were going for around $250-300 each

But it will be marked up to 1.5-2x the market value

i go to gun shows to be among like-minded people for once and geek out.

ironicaly, that's probably not true. In a fucked up way, Jow Forums has become the "normal" ones. On some things, at least.

I go to gun shows so I can finger fuck them before buying online.

Mine is still pretty good. Im hoping I'll track down the guy with the $200 Haitian mauser next weekend. If not, there's an old dude selling off part of his collection at nice prices. K31 for $300, a nice dark wood and brass matching 91/30 for $250. Maybe other stuff too, we'll see. I think im lucky though, old guys here can't use the internet and the milsurp scene isn't big.

This.

Gun shows are good for jerky, and fingering some guns.

Hell, gun stores would be going to way of Blockbuster if it weren't for those pesky "laws".

The only thing they are good for is buying old guns that you will want to inspect in person before buying. But you're going to pay for that opportunity.

Sometimes. Sometimes there are still good deals to be had.

I always hated going to gun shows. They’re always stuffy, stinks, and full of people with pot bellies who doesn’t look where they’re going and end up bumping you.

And they never take you seriously if you’re a woman. Especially if you’re young. One vendor I asked to hold a firearm even refused to uncable a pistol I wanted to check. Another spent more time trying to flirt with me rather than talk about the pistol I was thinking about buying.

And the “good” vendors weren’t that much better. I talked to an elderly guy who kept insisting on selling me a snubby revolver because it’s “designed for a young woman” and kept saying Glocks are not for me, despite him selling both. I had another vendor just flat out ignore me for some reason, when all I was asking is the price of one of his pistols (it wasn’t marked).

I was treated a little better, but not by much when the second time I went, I took one of my guy friends with me. It helped having a man beside you because vendors are more willing to engage them in conversation and if they did, they stick to selling guns instead of trying to flirt/rant/talk about their kids/etc

tl;dr; gunshows sucks. It’s better off buying online and just pick it up at your local FFL

you're in literal fudd central what did you expect?

Will you go out with me?

>what did you expect
Good deals. But all I got was tazers recommendations.

jerky and finger-fucking. ( ̀◡́)

In my area, gun shows are good for finding cheap reloads, occasional milsurp, and accessories.

One thing I do like about going to a gun show is handling a variety of guns. I've purchased guns online that ended up not feeling right in my hand or had shitty triggers or had inferior sights or QC wasn't up to par. On the other hand, I bought my first Sig Sauer because I picked it up, enjoyed everything about it, and the price was so low that I couldn't say no. I know there are jokes about people wanting to touch things before they buy them in retail, but with firearms I think it's a good idea because pictures online don't capture everything you need to know about a firearm before you purchase it

Nah there’s a group of boomers at my local shows that have some good stuff usually and it’s all private transfer

post ur tits u stupid whore

>LARPing as a woman

Its because good deals dont exist anymore. Armslist, Gunbroker and Guns International killed good gun shows

>holy shit! Theres actually a chance that i may get to interact with a woman!!!!!!!
I need to ask! Im a superior entitled species! Surely she will show me! If shes not shes just another roastie!!!!

>a bunch of morons hanging out at a gun show
>all telling themselves the "other" guys are weirdos
I have bad news for you.

>being so new that this is your response
Wow.

Forget the saggy tits, you and her gtfo

This

And learn them rules while you're gone

Aren't gun shows the only place to buy a gun without the government knowing about it?

I'm in the same boat as you, I used to love going to gun shows back in the day growing up, we used to go like 4-5 times a year to our local one, every time it was in town we went and I remember loving them!
Now I go and I'm just let down. I went to the Savannah one this weekend and seriously just sad showing. Not many people overpriced guns, overpriced ammo, junky shit and poorly made knives. Oh you want any type of collectors gun? 3500+ wtf?

Private meetups through Armslist too.

You can still trade in person which I enjoy.

I go to gun shows still, there are deals to be had you just have to look much harder than you used to.

It’s also a great place to get secondhand knives, and other gear.
M3 bayonet: $8
Hundreds of 8mm Mauser stripper clips: $2 for all
M1 enbloc clips: $.75
Turk Mauser:140 range if lucky
M1carbine $375 only seen one this cheap
K98k Russian capture $325 I bought a Carcano earlier in the day and regretted it as I didn’t have the cash to buy this.
Vz24: $275

Plus it is a great way to get cheap parts and stocks, I usually go to booths with ammo cans full of gun parts to see if there is anything I need.

they always reference prices for listing that never sell

I only ever go the the Tulsa gun show. Seldom buy anything but its fun to look.

Oh yeah? What news is that, fuckstick?

Those weirdos are there to buy shit, I ain't.

They suck compared to the glory days of the early to mid 80s. I went to many as a young kid with my uncle who was a turbo gun enthusiast, mostly in Oklahoma and a few in Texas.
>full auto stuff was plentiful and still somewhat reasonably priced, I remember picking up a full auto Uzi and was surprised at how heavy it was, it was not uncommon to see shit like M-60s and FG-42s for sale
>WW2 surplus was still widely available and cheap, original Nazi stuff was everywhere too, Vietnam era surplus was dirt cheap at that point, I remember seeing stacks of unused ERDL uniforms for less than $10 for a top or pants
>surplus .30-06, 8mm Mauser, .303 Brit was still cheap and widely available
>brass knuckle “paper weights”
>some of the bigger ones even had surplus military vehicles
>very little bzzzzt or jerky

Pic related is my uncle’s FN-D BAR variant that he still owns.

>Sensitive trans-man.

I go to see the real gunshops who bring the most popular inventory items and special sales they have just for the gunshow.

For the most part online shopping killed it. These are more for old guys who don't like online shopping and for the curious outsider who wants to see what the fuss is about.

Best stuff I have ever seen at gunshows was always being sold by a private seller. They have good deals a lot of times because they don't have any overhead and they're just trying to get rid of their stuff and make some money back on it. Of course, there's always the "I know what I've got!" guy.

It's probably a tranny, man

I went to one last year and it was basically gun stores selling glocks , overpriced 10/22s, shitty revolvers and expensive ammo.

Why I swore it off for good was all of the booths selling Chinese scopes where the word "precision" was spelled wrong on the box. Actually kind of felt bad for the woman selling them, she had like 400 scopes and no one would touch them with a 10 foot pole.

>And they never take you seriously if you’re a woman.
Why would anyone take a woman seriously?

>buying somebody else's reloads
Please for the love of God stop doing this. You have no idea what kind of shit they're putting in them, how hot the load is, or the quality of the powder.

((male))

I need to find a better place to reference gun shows than GunBroker and "Probably like 20% less than what I'm seeing here."

Any ideas?

> Hey bro, mind if I try your pistol out? Don't worry, I brought my own ammo. I got a friend who gave me a hella good deal on some 9mm.

Attached: 82491321.jpg (640x480, 93K)

.Gov doesn't really know until you do a multiple purchase. Then they will have all the deets.

>i could have walked home with a bunch of full auto MACs and nazi uniforms
WHY DID I HAVE TO BE BORN IN 1999 IT ISNT FUCKING FAIR

Attached: 1539309416042.png (430x545, 85K)

MACS aren't for you homie.

Or until you do something stupid and they track the serial through the original FFL. Historically speaking, at that point, tracking you through the gun is the least of your worries.

I guess they could also go full Red Dawn and seize all the 4473s from local gun stores.

fuck off porch monkey. i make my own full auto MACs. keep your kfc encrusted hands off them

Attached: 8876538535_1.jpg (774x1032, 87K)

In good condition, that's a very good deal for 336s.

Yeah, I could see the ATF demanding all the 4473s since some agents probably don't care about the law.

been in the infamous tanner gun show in colorado, twice.

stupid dissapointment. everything was overpriced. it was also a couple years ago when .22 lr ammo was still in panic mode, and one show the only .22 in the show was bags of factory rejects(looked like oil spilled on them). faggot knew he had the only .22 and treated his trash like it was a golden goose. i dont think he sold any.
The only thing i was even close to considering buying was a tiny crossbow that was ultimately too gimicky to buy.

gun shows are nice for looking, but the prices are shit, and the merchants are shit.

>(((MERCHANTS)))

When boomers get relocated to retirement camps, gun shows might become great again. Difficult to sell anything at a bargain to new people just getting into the hobby when some fucking boomer plows through buying everything being sold cheaper than what he sells at his booth. It's just like when there was a .22 shortage. Some asshole waited in the parking lot to clear the shelves just to try selling the same ammo at a high markup. Shit like that can kill a hobby for someone just getting started. Boomers don't care. They got theirs and they'll take yours, too.

day of the pillow when?

Got a good gunbelt at one a couple months ago. Nothing else worth noting, but then this is Jew York where you can't even buy shit other than muzzleloaders without having it sent to an FFL. Fucking Kim, why didn't you nuke NYC when you had the chance so the rest of us could have a decent state?

Why the hostility Brandon?

>ATF demanding all the 4473
Probably not that easy given the ATFs head count. Lot of FFLs out there, not to mention the Privacy Act of 1974 means the ACLU lawyers would be crawling up their butt for sharing said info with other government agencies to overcome the manpower shortage.

That kind of change would likely come from congress or the executive doins something shady.

I'm laughing, but that just means we burn together.

go suck a watermellon sambo. niggers get gas too

>ACLU
>giving a shit about anything even vaguely related to gun rights

Pick one and only one.

>no capitalization
>no period
>no apostrophes
Alright room temperature braniac.

seriously they wrecked the country. know why nazi shit is so rate and expensive? boomers. the king of boomers mel bernstein has thousands of nazi uniforms and other shit in his house. same thing with all the full auto guns too. hes singlehandedly screwing up the market so i have to scrape for breadcrumbs

Full of boomer fud kikes that want to sell everything through an FFL. Fuck off dipshit, and stop trying to tread on my snake.

Like a lot of other things including shopping malls and county fairs, the internet has made the average gun show irrelevant.
We once could go there expecting to be wowed by guns and gear that we had only heard about or only seen in a catalog. We could also expect to find some great deals brought in by vendors other than our LGS who may have been only a fud store or just did not have the volume to offer better prices.
Now we have the world of gun, knives, and camo from all nations delivered to our door or LGS with the click of a mouse.
On the one hand its awesome to have all this variety and the ability to compare prices but on the other the world is just a bit less wondrous and magical.

Are you delusional my guy?

I won't say they jave a great history, but they'll show up when it's about more than the guns. See their challenge to the no-fly list rule.

Interesting info. Always like learning more about the system.

The Syracuse show? That was a good one.

Yup, ordering from catalogs like shotgun news didn't kill gun shows, but the Internet did. Totally the Internet. Boomers did nothing to destroy gun shows. *sip*. nothing. Is that there pistol grip registered with the rifle police?

Oh Jesus, don't believe a word I say. It's fucking Jow Forums. I'm full of shit like everyone else here.
