The only major issue I could see is that if the US allows its citizens to do freely do mercenary work then we could end up with a situation where the ranks of all of our elite military units become thinned out due to soldiers becoming free agents for the highest foreign bidder. I understand that this is already happening to some extent but if I were the US government then I would want to keep a tight grip on the market. Furthermore, given that contractors frequently work alongside regular US forces, I can't imagine that we would want too many of them getting involved in shady shit. That sort of thing can be a have a bad influence on their military peers.

The best way to discourage the use of mercenaries is to simply execute them immediately if captured and render no aid if wounded. i a couple of years, im thinking i might join ukraine's Air Assault Forces (Formerly the Ukrainian VDV), since they seem to have ongoing activity, as well as a better ACTUAL paratrooper's life.
