I'm a vet that works for a company that worships veteran hiring (because they can use the stupid fuckers but that's another rant) but these dudes I work with, especially the retired ones, lose their fucking minds and go full "let me speak to thuh manager" mode any time they don't get their stupid little discount anywhere they go. They also love to LARP like they are still all 1stsgts by writing up "LORs" for each other and sending military format emails to everyone about their SITREPs at odd hours of the night because they sold all their time to the military and now have zero hobbies or real skills now that they're middle aged and broken.

I could go on. Fuck vets.

that shit made me cringe so hard back when i worked at a liquor store. the place is located just outside of a base so half of our customers were mil, and while trust and believe we and every other patriotic small family owned business would love to just give out discounts, it dawned on me that there are an ungodly number of entitled shitbags who forgot they volunteered. with that said however, its almost exclusively a millennial problem in my experience. no one else aside from poor black women and jews act as fucking entitled to everything in the world as the common millennial

I honestly really dislike this mentality. Ever since 9/11 the public has been forced to have this mentality that if they don’t furiously bootlick they’re a bad American. I did my 4 years, got out and continued on with college. Luckily I didn’t have to deal with the cringe inducing vet groups and Sheep Dog types that refuse to let anyone forget about their service. The military serviceman are over payed and the government spends the tax money frivolously due to a deep level of corruption. The police force is a giant meme at this point. Here where I live the starting salary is 47k before over time, plus you get a pension when you retire which is pretty hard to find these days. Most places only give you a 401k system for retirement options. First Responders and Active Duty at this point have just become welfare queens. Deployments are shit these days. The worst form of combat 99% of soldiers deal with might be an occasional mortar shell that lands in an airfield a mile and a half away. Yet they want you to thank them for their sacrifice..? Idk what happened. We haven’t seen any real combat since like 2012 and that was in Afghanistan.

It depends on cost of living. Cops in Cali (particularly, say, the LAPD) are going to make alot more than cops working in a more rural area. When you look at how expensive it is to actually live in LA though they're not actually making all that much.

I'm a copfag, it happens sometimes. When I can I always go thank them and tell them it wasn't necessary. Other times they run off without me knowing.

You know, I hate boomers as much as the next guy, but they are right about one thing and that is union workers get more than they deserve (unless it's the fucking jewel osco union).

It depends. County Fire and larger city departments generally have their own ambulances, but there are alot of smaller municipal fire stations that don't do EMS at all and rely on the county for that.
