I believe the poor souls of those states fell like Missouri did. Rust is basically the plague generated from Detroit which is advancing. The fight for the Mississippi in all the now rust states was fought for bravely but in the end it was not enough. My govt collects no taxes which has lead to prosperity relative to other areas but Rust is advancing over the plains slower towards our beautiful rocky mountains. Yeah, portland especially would be(on paper) easy to secure, its practically cut in half on one side with only a few points connecting it.
