SHTF .22

You get your choice of either a ruger 10/22 with a threaded barrel, or a s\w 15/22

You can put a suppressor on the 10/22 and the s/w, and the s/w can also take a bumpstock

What do you take

Suppressed 10/22, no contest. Quiet shots are worth more, especially when you're out hunting and don't want to draw a crowd. Not necessarily saying that's a situation that will happen, but much more likely than needing a bump fire .22lr.

Keep in mind the 15-22 can also be suppressed.

Missed that part. 10/22 still if takedown, otherwise it's a coin flip.

Why would you choose the takedown?
Just smaller?

Pretty much. Just easier to lug around, and in a bag if needed. Both guns are almost identical otherwise. Both can have a variety of optics, and both have access to a variety of magazines as needed.

Bumpstock is too situational to consider taking without more context information.

10.22 has longer barrel

Granted, I also don't know the exact ballistics data between the two guns, one may throw the bullet a little faster than the other. I only own a 10/22 carbine and I've fired the s/w a few times. I just personally find it an apples and oranges decision. A suppressed .22 no matter how you build it will do you well in a wilderness survival situation.

Form factor is dramatically better for the 10/22 and takedown models are much easier to takedown than an AR variant

You and a million others. There will be no prey left to catch.

Bump-firing a S&W 15/22 is going to be really difficult even with a bumpstock, OP. ESPECIALLY if you add a can on the end.

Remember: Bump fire requires that the recoil be a longer distance than the trigger reset.

10/22. Smaller magazines takes up less space and more 10/22 parts are available.

FYI ruger 10/22s can be suppressed. They sell mounts for them

IIRC the Ruger is lighter, so it would get my nod in a pinch. Still, the S&W has AR ergonomics/intimidation and better sights. Being an AR facsimile it...also takes down.

bumpstocks are for novelty only, if SHTF they're essentially useless unless you're really taking out a packed room full of people everywhere you go. They're just too inaccurate, even with the low recoil of a 22

Ar's in .22lr are only good for the meme or cheap AR-15/10 training. To use it as a purpose built .22 is lame as fuck.

The 10/22 is a .22 and nothing more, AR's are exactly what they need to be for centerfire cartridges, but to use that design on a dinky .22 is OD.

Plus, if I can tool with a bit, chop the barrel to 9 or 10 inches, throw on a sidefolding wire stock and a little pic rail and bam.

Plus, if I add a silencer i've got that bolt lever to hold closed when firing, gaining the benefits of a manual actions .22's lack of chamber pop.

So with a 10/22 you get a lighter, cheaper, more modular, more useful and just more effective .22.....and with an AR .22 you just get a really, really wimpy AR.

>makking a .22 SBR

stopped reading this stupid shit right there

Opinion discarded

Dumb fuck.
>an AR style .22 is somehow worse than any other style because reasons
Own both. I’d take the 15/22. Both are serviceable .22s, but the 15/22 is much easier to break down and clean. The 10/22 needs two different Allen wrenches plus the bolt can be a pita to reinstall.

>Not understanding what hunting means.
There will be plenty of prey.

If you're going to mount a suppressor on a straight blowback, shortening the barrel is actually a good idea, as you can keep the pressure curve more similar. Putting a suppressor on a full-length 10/22 will probably shorten the life of the rifle because of higher bolt velocity.

Fuck off Scuba

This.

When the birds and animals are gone, you start hunting "long pig."

Then again, why wait?

aren't there a shit ton of negative side effects from eating human flesh?

Prion disease? If I recall. Something about a protein being used that degrades the myelin sheath of neurons. Causes tremors and shit like The Book of Eli

Think it's only an issue if you eat nervous tissue. Madcow disease was caused by basically boiling cow corpses and using them as protein in cow feed

No brain or spine, and eat organs in extreme moderation.

Prion diseases are primarliy contracted through eating nerve tissues (mainly brain) with Kuru the most notable that infects humans, and Creutzfeldt-Jakob another prominant prion disease. Avoiding human organ meats is to avoid vitamin toxicity, mainly avoiding the liver to avoid vitamin A toxicity.

The organ part also applies to other high food chain predators like bears.
