Is there any reason to polish a knife blade to a mirror finish other than aesthetics?
Is there any reason to polish a knife blade to a mirror finish other than aesthetics?
Emergency mirror
No, also this belonged in a stupid questions thread. Use your brain.
polished blades are less prone to corrosion compared to something like beadblasting which leaves nooks and crannies for rust to settle in.
Is that a fact?
Tactical mirror to shine light in enemy eyes
yes
No
Maybe
Assuredly.
Yes. Less surface area, and less pitting which water (which leads to rust) can settle in.
Yes, but if you're taking care of your knife properly it won't rust anyways. And if you polish it up and then don't take care of it properly it will still rust even though you polished it.
I don't know
Removing evidence
Can you repeat the question.
Frankie Muniz has no memory of his childhood acting career due to suffering multiple strokes several years ago.
>due to suffering multiple strokes several years ago.
>be child-actor on successful network show
>make fucking BAZILLIONS
>get stroked off by milf mom-character several times which causes you to repress memory of shitty TV show
>get to enjoy your bazillions without being self-conscious about that era
Lucky bastard
>Stroked off by milf mom-character
...what?
i assume that's what "multiple strokes years ago" means
There are facts and there are facts.
why don't combat knives have scallops cut out of the blade, I used one of these to cut cheese the other day and it just zipped right through
Yall dont know jack about guns or knives do ya. A mirror finish cuts better due to less friction. Think about it. Rough finish= more grip and friction so vice versa with nirror polish. It's more corrosion resistant too because a mirror fin. is.. fuck it just do your own research.
All they do is keep slices from sticking to the blade when you're cutting vegetables.
exactly, that's why real shooters use pic related on all their bullets
Nigger.
I actually find things tend to stick to a very fine polish more than a rougher or coated finish. What picks up fingerprints more easily, a super shiny steel or a piece of cast iron?
just google it man. You'll see. It's not a huge difference either way between mirror and satin polish.
1 to shave with, 1 to use as a mirror as you shave.
More rust resistant.
Also slices much better due to it too.
What is that lower knife made of? Copper? It looks cool.
>Is there any reason to polish a knife blade to a mirror finish other than aesthetics?
The whole blade, I don't know.
But a mirror finish of the cutting edge makes the blade stay sharp longer because it has less uneven surfaces that continue to "tear" when the blade is used and make it dull quicker.
Adding to this:
Mirror finish also cuts better!
I doubt it.
I've EDC'd an opinel for decades. When I started mirror polishing it I found it cut more smoothly through meat and cheese.
Yes. Smoother surface means less surface area than a wavy surface the same overall size. Less surface area means less space for rush and less gaps for liquid to get trapped between.
This.
And for gods sakes stop using honing rods are sharpeners. God that shit is so annoying.
Pic related. Fucking stop, two swipes and you're ready to go. It doesnt sharpen!
He actually took on a hobby driving cars and due to multiple concussions the strokes were brought on.
I assume Louis(his mother on the show) was attracted to bad boys and that gave him the opportunity for the handjobs.
yo no hablo ingles
some steels prefer a toothy edge.
For civilian use nickel plated, and polished stuff it fine. But when it comes to the big boy leagues, and real tactical operations, everything has to be either camouflaged or subdued.
Emergency signaling device.
Because """combat knives""" are actually meant for utility and not fighting.
more surface area(bumps) exposes more iron to oxygen meaning more rust
