Going to the Army Recruiter today, gonna ask for a 68w. what should I expect? what kind of questions do I need to ask? what kind of questions will he ask me?
also will bringing my GED transcript be enough? >(Diploma is taking a while to arrive in the mail and I figured having the transcript showing my scores and saying that I passed will be enough/an alternative for signing enlistment papers or whatever it is that I have to sign)
>what should I expect? Lies. Assume every one is lying.

On my Army application under addresses I ran out of room and can only go back 9 years. It says you're required to go back 10.
I also tried texting my recruiter about it but he hasn't responded yet and I'm supposed to meet him at his office tomorrow then go take my asvab at some local school.
Is it okay to only go back 9 years or do I have to write something in. Also for references it says they must have known you for 10 years. I'm assuming it has to be 10 and you can't go under. Is it okay to reference people you don't really talk to anymore? We've moved around a lot so there's nobody that isn't family I could use for a reference.
Thanks guys, I asked my recruiter all this a couple hours ago and he didn't respond, so any info helps.
Isaiah Morris
Any usaf cyber officers available to answer questions? I'll likely be lurking a bit throughout the day.
Eli Foster
I'm being investigated for a top secret clearance and I forgot to mention a major injury that left me in depression. How screwed am I? Should I tell them so they don't bite me for it or should I not worry about it?
Elijah Foster
If you weren't clinically diagnosed (i.e. by an actual psychiatrist who prescribed you drugs) then it doesn't matter. If you were, you might get asked about it but you don't/can't take any action unless they do.
Eli Howard
how would a prolonged gap (many a year) of neetdom affect things like this?
Lucas Mitchell
There's a continuation form, just ask the recruiter for it.
>Also for references it says they must have known you for 10 years. I'm assuming it has to be 10 and you can't go under. Is it okay to reference people you don't really talk to anymore? We've moved around a lot so there's nobody that isn't family I could use for a reference.
Ever heard the term "close enough for government work"?
Aiden Watson
Any Rangers in here? What people from the British Military do you work with the most?
Joseph Gray
Yeah, but since I might be taking an intel slot if there's one available I don't necessarily want it looking bad.
Think I could get away with references that are short 10 years? Or just go with shoddy 10 year ones.
Kevin Sullivan
What is is it like being a technical engineer in the us army?
Shipping out in 19 days, had to get a consult for tinea versicolor and the Dr gave me a prescription for it but I can't afford it. Do I just tell the meps Drs during the final inspect
>yea it's going away lmao
Gavin Cruz
If I get an above average to perfect score on the ASVAB and the SIFT tests, will.i be guaranteed a slot in the WOFT program? How easy is it to fuck up and get slipped to a totally different position if you get poor scores?
Kayden Miller
Asvab only says if you are qualified for a job or not. It is nothing special. It's totally binary
Jason Jenkins
I got a near perfect score yesterday on the asvab, and really the asvab is there to filter out the retards from doing jobs they shouldn't be doing, IE, you don't want a room temperature IQ mouthbreather doing threat analysis for where reinforcements are needed. or fixing helicopters, or clearing landmines. etc.
Hate to break it to ya but even retards score well and do those jobs. It's really depressing working with incompetent people who are there purely because they meet the entry level reqs due to ASVAB
Chase Allen
I see, that's basically just there to screen people who don't belong in that program. My recruiter told me that as long as I score well on the ASVAB and SIFT, I should be guaranteed a slot, but it is also true that competition is a thing in that program.
I'm just going to get my bachelor's and enlist then. That'll probably help guarantee the position I'm looking for.
Ian Bell
you make a good point, I noticed the kid that was next to me finished up around the same time, and he was really intelligent, but not very knowledgeable about cars or electronics from the stuff we talked about after the test, and he scored a 79, but Bubba Joe that fixes his own car and machined out parts for his rifle scored a 93. Don't get me wrong, that bubba is probably smart in his own right, but I hope he gets to be a mechanic like he wants.
Jonathan Martin
My left eye is a little blurry but my right eye is perfect, will this prevent me from enlisting? I mean when I have both eyes open I see perfectly obviously. Also am flat-footed and have heard that disqualifies you, can I fake having arches?
Gabriel Cruz
Going to meet with a Navy recruiter in a few days, should I bring any paperwork(passport, diploma, birth certificate etc) with me?
Hudson Brooks
Why are Air Force scores lower than the other scores? I thought they were smart.
Christopher Gutierrez
loadmaster or boomer
Samuel Mitchell
Neither necessarily dq you. The feet are a possible issue but I doubt it. Meps will tell you, plenty of flat footed folks enlist
Isaac Collins
The asvab doesn't filter shit, my dog could get a 98
Adam Fisher
If you your references have known you for "a while" and the times they know you overlap with each other you'll be fine. They're not going to sperg out about every single one of your references not knowing you for ten years and not a day shorter. I mean, if you're 18 we're talking about people who knew you when you were in elementary school. They don't care, it's just not that important. What they're looking for are, basically: unreported serious crimes/felonies, allegiance to antigovernment groups, allegiance to foreign governments, and debt. Now if you're a 30-year old who took a break from college to spend two years backpacking through Asia and you can't provide any references about that time, it might be a problem. But I assume that's not you.
Your fault for staying conventional. Folks put in for SFAS got selected got to do the job they signed up for. They had initiative. You want things given to you.
Have fun waiting for things to fall into your lap. The world wishes you luck.
Jack Cruz
>rate Really interested in being an Aircrewman
Eli King
well. its the infantry's sole job to fire their weapon in combat. So thats not my fault.
Eli Morris
Oh you that cat from last thread who was talking about that and Diver?
Nathaniel Wilson
I'm at the hotel before MEPS and my recruiter just told me about the duck walk a couple of hours ago. I was a fat fuck before I could join (I'm like 10 pounds under the limit now) and have basically no lower body strength. How fucked am I
Ian Carter
It's somehow made into a big deal. Idk. I was out of shape when I did it and it was fine but some people struggle and are surprisingly uncoordinated all of a sudden during that time. It's a nonissue don't get worked up over it. Even the guys who sucked just kept going until the meps guys said cool
Cameron Williams
I'd like some input on my decision: whether it's viable, as well as what actions I can take to help me out. I'm going to apply for Army OCS. I've got an information systems degree and some cyber experience. I think I've narrowed down the jobs I'd like to 35A and 17A. The whole 35 series in general sounds really cool; we had a 35L come in as a lecturer in my cyber internship, and the talk really blew my mind.
In all seriousness, I don't think I'll get accepted. I was a fuckup my first couple of years of school and dropped out. I did well when I went back in and finished, but I'd hardly call my GPA competitive. I also got a misdemeanor wet reckless a few years back, so applying is sort of for haha shits and giggles. If I did get accepted, that's definitely what I'd be doing for the next few years of my life. I'm also interested in enlisting and getting to E-4 after training.
As far as exercise, I'm doing the C25k thing and I'm going to supplement that with stronglifts. What do you folks think?
Caleb Garcia
its nothing. youll be fine
Michael Miller
Ok sorry if this is an easy "just google it" type of question.
If I join with the intention of going SOCM can I bring that experience into the civilian world and become a trauma surgeon later in life? I'm a college student right now, have always wanted to go medical, but the loans would just be too much and I can't put my family through that. On top of that I've always wanted to join the military and this seems like a situation where it would actually help me.
I'm in a boring major right now and I know this isn't how I want to spend my life. I was considering just straight up dropping out and joining the Army but that would be dumb considering how well I'm doing (great college, great grades, great internship, ect.). I'm 19 and in really good physical condition, however I'm well aware of how hard selection is for Special Forces and have never been the most athletic kid. Only recently I started getting into really good shape.
Is there anywhere I can get more information on the different types of medical roles in the military? Is this a dumb pipe dream?
Jose Collins
Which branch does the most "peacekeeping"? i don't want to sit around a base all day, but i'm also not confident in my physical ability to do the higher level SOFs like green berets and SEALs.
>I also got a misdemeanor >hardly call my GPA competitive I can't speak for the military but I work in Cybersecurity now alongside many retired NSA, CIA, DIA, and Airforce people. I've spoken to them at length about government jobs (told to apply for them) and I can tell you right now a misdemeanor does not look good and having a low GPA isn't good either. You will need top level security clearance and they dig deep on that. I won't tell you it's impossible for you but it's unlikely you will get that clearance considering you don't sound very serious and have those issues.
They will ask your neighbors what you were like, they will check everything you ever did, online history, people's opinions on you, criminal history, medical history, etc. That said, I also have met some really normal dudes who got security clearances and some who admitted to smoking weed. It's a tough call but judging from what you wrote I don't think you'd be accepted.
Brody Myers
Atm you're gonna sit around a base all day for most of your career. Unless you join the navy and go sailing
Carter Taylor
His GPA has nothing to do with a clearance. The misdemeanor depends on what it was and how honest he is. No telling.
Colton Kelly
Damn, i can only hope trump starts some shit with a country. Peacetime sure is dull.
He's done more to avoid war than presidents before him for decades. Honestly you probably wouldn't even like it. If you want to do shit still then go be special and do something challenging that requires you to stand out. Then you can go to Afghanistan and train retards or something
Wyatt Jones
He has no idea. It's safe to ignore him. They'll do open source research on your name but literally anyone can do that
Jaxson Thompson
Having a low GPA in a major like IS means you lack drive and discipline. An IS degree is one of the easiest majors you can go into, if you can't get a solid GPA in that how tf are you gonna work in counter-intelligence lol. Again, he might be able to do it, but it's just not likely.
It has no bearing on clearance. Stop talking out of your ass already, stick to what you know.
Adam Flores
Can this shit be learned in a night? I can't take a single step. I also can't do the roll-up, I keep getting too much pressure in the middle of my toes instead of my hips or whatever. I'm seriously freaking cause my recruiter didn't tell me anything about MEPS other than them taking my height and weight, I feel like I just got fucked
Nolan Torres
I'm not referring to clearance dumbass, I'm talking about passing training. The misdemeanor won't look to hot for clearance the GPA isn't a good sign for training. >stick to what you know probably a lot more than you
Aiden Hernandez
No need to practice just go to meps and do what you're told. The worst case is you absolutely obliterate it and just go back to do it later. By then you know what you actually need to do anyway. Calm down
Jose Ortiz
you're overthinking it.
Carson Davis
You're probably right. I didn't get my shit together until I decided to finish school and join the program. When I started college, right out of hs, i switched majors four times and completely blew school off. It's coming back to bite me in the ass, I'll have to live with that. Like I said, I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worst. All the cool jobs, or even all the decent jobs that I'm interested in that would also help advance my career require security clearances, so I'll probably just get a job instead.
Levi Flores
>can't speak for military >bullshits about what goes into a background investigation >thinks his GPA has anything to do with 35l Yes stick to what you know
Robert King
Not him but thank God, because if they somehow get a hold on my medical history and confront me with it, I'd be fucking buried. I'm not a psycho murderer or anything, but it won't match what I told them... In a big way. Like the sort that might get me fraudulent enlistment. I'm fine now, but they wouldn't believe me.
Makes sense, use what is already available. NWUs will do the job fine.
Aaron Cooper
Coast guard no. The blue utilities are much better.
Matthew Collins
I have a degree in philosophy with a fairly poor GPA. I'm just finishing up four years teaching English in Japan which I did to pay off my debt. I would like to commission as an officer. Would it be better to go to grad school for a Masters degree and get a good GPA this time around? I'm quite confident I could do so, I was just a lazy shitbag in college and highschool and have since learned the error of my ways and have been inspired (partially from seeing work ethic in Japan, and partially from the heavy reading in military history that I've been doing here) to really work hard in the future. Would be job experience be beneficial or a hindrance? How much weight is placed on your statement of purpose in your OCS application? I've turned over a bit of a new leaf and I'm really looking to prove myself as being capable, not only being motivated for the future, but also with my inadequacies in the past stinging me like spurs. Also once you get into OCS, are the rankings that determine who gets to pick their branch first come from just your performance at OCS, or also previous or outside factors?
Liam Young
Are they going to hide in the fucking alge?
Matthew Cook
they are responsible for securing and defending ports during warfare. they had people in Iraq in 2003, and took casualties
>dey is better >we need specialized uniforms cuz reasons
Nah cunt. The military branches having 8 billion uniforms is a sign of managerial failure. USCG's adoption of the Navy's NWUs are one step among many to fix this. The USCG can continue to wear the Air Force blues as they already have, while going to the same suppliers for the Navy for their utility uniforms.
Next is getting rid of the Air Force's ABUs, another specialized uniform that never needed to exist outside of wasting more money and logistical energy.
Wrong. Navy should have adopted cg uniforms. There's no practical use of type 3s. Plain blue looks more professional in garrison and on vessels
Dominic Lee
Point taken, I just took a few to chill. I'm close to getting the roll-up, mostly through use of momentum with my ass hitting my heels, but the walk still eludes me. Should the power be coming from my hips or my glutes? I have strength in neither but knowing which would help
Christian Miller
Well thankfully at least one uniform is finally dead.
Colton Ward
STOP overthinking it. Just do what they say to do,and copy what you see the other people doing. the duck walk is a retarded thing people scare each other with. its literally nothing
Eli Ortiz
Do any of you know if I can enlist in the army right after getting my green card or is there any special requirement like a certain time living in the U.S?
Aiden Thomas
think you just need the green card, check their site.
Ryan Thomas
can i get a waiver to shower separately? i have issues with being naked around strangers.
Juan Green
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHA
aha
ha
good meme.
Evan Barnes
Right, I'm not like afraid of it or anything, I'm just trying to do it and failing. Not used to squatting and I was a couch potato (lost the weight by fasting and cycling) so I have like no lower body strength, but apparently you don't need any to do it?
Mason Baker
i don't remember what we did, it was almost 9 years ago. but its nothing complicated
Chase Martinez
If I plan on seeing both a Navy and Air Force recruiter simultaneously, should I let one know I'm speaking to the other?
Adrian Turner
For the last two summers I've worked as a waiter. suffice to say I have not been entirely honest with my tip reports, will this have an effect on my ability to get a security clearance?
Doesn't matter. I don't see why you would, no reason to share info they don't ask for
Nathaniel Stewart
If the irs isn't onto you then opm won't be.
Christian Davis
If I tell a recruiter I am willing to take any job or an open contract, would he be more willing to do a waiver?
Lucas Perry
Help I'm old and fat. 28 and it sucks
Brayden Myers
They're more willing to do a waiver for people who can be put in hard to fill jobs. If the waiver possibility is there I'm sure they'll do the legwork if you seem like you will. Don't walk in so desperate, go for what you want and still get a waiver
Jacob Perez
stop
Isaac White
>Next is getting rid of the Air Force's ABUs Already being replaced by OCPs.
Jonathan Rodriguez
BACK FROM MEPS ITS BEEN 40~ DAYS SINCE I SMOKED WEED TELL ME IM OKAY
How bad am I gonna get hazed when I check into my infantry battalion
Chase Reed
I hope so user, I was 40 days clean before I even spoke to a recruiter but I’m just cautious like that.
Hudson Robinson
Can anyone give me a quick rundown on the difference between commissioned and non commissioned officers?
Dylan Ross
>Also once you get into OCS, are the rankings that determine who gets to pick their branch first come from just your performance at OCS Yes
Ayden Scott
One goes onto become CEOs, politicians of their respective nations, high level engineers pushing humanity ahead.
The other leaves and gets to work as a gym receptionist in their 40s/50s, become a crackhead hoodchimp who tells the world they are "ex-military", or they die in a trailer park fight over the one single mom that 40 men had to share.
Pic related, former commissioned officer. You may not like him, but he successful at the very least.
