These are the Norwegian Special Forces. You will find them in Kabul, working with the antiterror police on practically every alert, and in Syria. They are supposedly in the Al Tanf base but not one of our newspapers have managed to report on them since they moved in; these guys don't give interviews and photos are pretty rare even from Kabul.

For the foreigners: Norwegian forces are a whole bunch of services. At the bottom are the conscripts, who do not leave the country during their year of service as regular army. Next up is the home guard and the regular enlisted officers, who also say within Norway. Enlisted personnel are used for all foreign missions, be it navy or airforce or army jobs (the latter are in the Telemark Battalion which I guess defines as motorized infantry?) and our currently rather small UN forces. The UN forces used to be in Lebanon; now there's a few military hospital and logistics units here and there. The top drawer is the special forces. Where and how they are employed tend to be kept secret if possible, and having your face shown on camera gets you demoted to depot service if I understand correctly. We are a small country and finding the home and family of someone whose face has been published is not impossible. Hence the scarfs you see all over these videos.

Our military forces are small and I for one agree that we should increase the manpower again. We have the money to make this happen and after decades and decades of mainly socialist rule, the political support for more forces is growing. A lot of money have been spent though; we are now getting our fifty F35s so we can phase out what is now just a handful F16s and some very fancy naval units are being built. We have the CV90 tanks system. A flotilla of new choppers are at last being delivered. The G3A3 has been fully phased out for HK416 now. I want more boots on the ground but equipmentwise we have never been better.

The Home Guard are just a shadow of their former selves in numbers, but equipment- and training wise they are on the level of the regular army now while back in the day they were literally dumping ground for old army gear.

The Plan, ever since 1945, has been to resist the enemy attack long enough for NATO to come and save us. Considering that the enemy is giant Russia with more divisions than we have tanks, it will be a game of whackamole rather than a battle of titans. There is very little point in having static positions what with the volumes of russian rocketry so mobility is key.

USA have storage bases deep in the mountains here and there in Norway; I am within 2 miles of one right now. Vehicles, tanks, ammo. It will probably be clobbered with the russian version of tomahawks but we'll see. These things were built with full knowledge of what mother russia can bring to town.
