Is the Zastava M70 NPAP any good?

is the Zastava M70 NPAP any good?
I'm considering getting one since they seem to be a good solid budget AK. but I've heard mixed reviews about them, anyone wanna chime in?
Is it a good Slavshit rifle or trash?

The build quality is good, accurate too, but they rust to hell and back really fast.

Is there a way to prevent that?

They’re great. Overbuilt as fuck. Made at the same factory on the same tooling with the same parts as their military counterparts. They’re not being imported anymore though so prices are going up. Try to snag an OPAP if you you still can, they have thicker RPK(1.5mm) trunnions. The problems you read about are generally from the Gen 1 NPAP’s, anything after is g2g. Unless someone has swapped it, you can spot a gen 1 by its railed dust cover.
Go forth user and remove kabab with Serb stronk AK

You realize theres a general for this right?
Two, actually. /akg/ and /qtddtot/.
If you cant even properly use the catalog why should you be trusted with a firearm?

Aren't OPAPs single stack only though?

I didn't want to ask this in a sea of other AK posts you nigger

i live in a tropical island with a NPAP and i know you are full of shit

No

are you african?

I found an NPAP for for $550 on armslist but I have no shekels.
I wanna fucking die

If russia or china were still exporting ak npaps wouldnt be worth considering. However its still better than anything made in america. Out of the garbagepile that is the current american market its decent enough.

No nigger. where do you live where your NPAP rusted?

He must live at the bottom of the fucking ocean

Well yeah, obviously clean it regularly, and don't keep in a humid place.

Genuinely fantastic. The issues were few and far between, so you should be fine. The guns may not be perfectly in line, and you may have to adjust the front sight a bit (just like any rifle) but they are great. I would, however, reccomend replacing the recoil spring with a wolf ak spring, and i would replace the bent piece of wire that retains the trigger assembly with any of the trigger retainment plates available for like, 5 bucks.

Also replace the shitty century wood.

Yes, not imported anymore either so buy one if you want one.

i dont even own a gun, im just curious as to what tropical island you live on that you own a serbian ak. i highly doubt its hawaii, so that pretty much narrows it down to africa, or an isis guy in the philipines

Good quality for what you pay. I own one and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. I had to replace the shitty handguards and the tiny pistol grip though. Used Hague handguards and a larger pistol grip. Much more sturdy and easier to handle. Also if you can, replace the stock with something more sturdy. I've been reading(and experienced) where peoples' NPAP buttstock was getting wobbly after a few dozen rounds. You would need a converter piece to put new stocks on it because the Yugo tangs are different from other models.

Pic is mine.

I realize that wood furnished AKs are peak aesthetic but personally I've always wanted a good ol' thumbhole sporter.
Anybody have any gripes?

Love my Npap DF.

The absolute state of Jow Forums; how do you like your muzzle rise booster?

The general threads are shit on Jow Forums, they're all trip poster circlejerks. People like you are why we have the same bait threads every day but no actual content.

>not getting a nice aftermarket walnut "it's not a dragunov" thumbhole

You've got that muzzle fucked bud.

So you ARE a nigger

M85np factory chambered in 5.56.

Yeah, it has a slant brake on it. Regardless of whether it's backwards.

Yes, they are good AK's and have a cool history attached

Is the proprietary furniture that big of a deal or is it mostly the same as normal furniture but with different mounting?

>cracky receiver commercial specific line with short recoil springs
>cool history

nah

It is a good gun, with some unique features like the RPK receiver and furniture. But because of this you can't interchange a fair amount of parts

Biggest draw back is the lack of chrome lining. Not a huge deal, but now that AKs are expensive, any competitively priced AR will have CL, or nitride/melonite treatments. This means the barrel, and gas block are less resistant to corrosion and wear

7.62x39 is fairly low pressure so you might not shoot out the barrel, but if you are shooting frequently, it is within the realm of possibility, while anons have also reported peened bolts (I imagine a heavier recoil spring would fix that)

Personally I wouldn't pick it as a first or only AK but it would be a cool piece to play around with on occasion and keep in the collection

NPAP's don't have the yugo pattern heavy receiver

Gen 2 doesn't but they originally did

Gen 1’s were 1.5mm but they also had single stack bolts, thumbhole stocks and railed dust covers, some were converted to double stack by Century but they were prone to problems
Gen 2’s were 1mm but had double stack bolts, wood furniture and a side rail
Gen 3’s are the same but they also came out with the OPAP with the 1.5mm trunnions

Hnng what is the barrel length on those? I kinda want one to donk out in zenitco furniture. Is that retarded?

Gorgeous.

They're great. I've owned an M92 PAP and an M72 RPK built by ((Lee Armory)). The M92 was sturdy AF but for some reason kept rusting on the dust cover. I noticed this within 1 week of owning it. No matter how much oil I put on, it would rust. Ended up trading it for a 2016 WASR, however and love the WASR WAY more. It feels a lot handier and better in many ways. Also has never rusted.

My M72 was super fun and never had a single problem with it. But I ended up trading it for an all matching 1944 bringback Garand. Even had the original barrel which is in pristine shape!

Do it, OP. Zastava stuff is great and Century is no longer bringing them in. WASR's are next.

The barrel on the M92 & M85 pistols are 10.5 inches without the booster. 12 with.

Not weird at all. It would be better than the usual shitty AR's you build and resell at 3X the cost.

that is a valid explanation

I bought one a couple of years ago. It definitely has a break in period (had some failures to feed initially). But after 100-200 rounds it's cycling just fine.
Also the stock is designed for use with optics, the iron sights are a pain in the ass to use.
I'd recommend it overall.

/AKG/ is fucking useless these days. It has finally succumbed to the same petty elitist bullshit /ARG/ fell into before. Its a shame, but the market has turned which is why i think it became so bitter and contrived.

I got one a few years back and it has always been my favorite

I have an ACE Folder with a yugo adapter is anyones interested?
