No. It's still used in many countries.
Nope. French GIGN just adopted the CZ Bren 2 in this caliber. An interesting choice for sure, especially for them.
For actual countries, yes. For wasteland shitholes, no.
Holy shit are you stupid
It was never alive
Seems to be having small resurgence lately because of modern body armor.
>not even clever/10
maybe you should ask if it's a meme next?
I don't know, you keep your overgrown .22 and we'll see what is dead
I got a Arsenal 107 before they stopped making them so no not to me
Which countries uses 7.62x39? Even Russia stopped in the 70’s
no army uses it anymore.
enjoy your shit ammo now.
Not as long as their are hogs within 200y that need popping. Although, if .300blk ever gets much closer to 5.56 prices, like $.30 for FMJ, $.45 for hunting ammo, that may be the end for anyone who doesn't already own an AK.
how is it better at penetrating body armor than smaller, faster projectiles like 5.56?
shitholes and finland. Smaller calibresd just won't do in thick woods
it isn't he doesn't know what he's talking about
the fuck you on about?
>dead
>available at almost every fucking walmart or gun store in america
No.
It destroys ceramic body armor faster the 5.56 but is still takes multiple rounds to do depending on who makes the armor.
It is literally the most popular non-American made centerfire rifle cartridge in the US
And considering Americans generally hate anything that isn't American, that says a lot about how popular it is
>Even Russia stopped in the 70s.
I don't think any of the Warsaw Pact countries or Yugoslavia switched with them, only the USSR proper. Not all of them have migrated to 5.56. Most African countries, I'm sure. Most of the Indochina area countries, I believe. Various middle eastern countries and I'm sure most of them have some element of it in stock/reserve.
Russia still regularly utilizes 7.62x39 AKs depending on the AO.
Slavs don't throw anything out
>literally the most popular and common rifle cartridge in the world
>"is it dead?"
Pic fucking related
Enough said
We Finns do use that. It goes through things.
During a Summer there is a thicket.
During a Winter there is the same thicket covered with snow and ice. Plus those opponents have extra clothing on them.
RK62s and the reservist and sport models (70, 76, 76s, 90s etc) shoot the same round, usually with 1 MOA or less accuracy.
We have some of the better AP and other specialty rounds for those too, thanks to our resident Nammo corp.
We are all about Arctic Warfare up here. As a small country.
BAHHHH BAHHHHH
Russia still uses 7.62x39, and AK's in 7.62 are still issued to mainline troops.
As a military cartridge? Yes. The only militaries that are using it are small less wealthy countries that buy up old surplus ammo and rifles, because that's what they can afford. The caliber is used to much because its mainly produced in Europe and used there in conflicts by people who can get it easier.
As a sporting cartridge is great. Still pretty cheap and fun to shoot.
>The only militaries that are using it are small less wealthy countries that buy up old surplus ammo and rifles, because that's what they can afford.
No. We need to shoot through things. Plus we have an Excellent support for that.
See
American here, I love you guys. Want to be Steam friends with me?
I had to look up what's Steam.
I'll be your friend here at Jow Forums. :)
Ok great. mokmeet at aol.com if you want to be penpals
Great respect for Finland for having hot women and defending your country courageously against the Soviets
>Slavs don't throw anything out
This
fuck nah. It's got more popular current production guns than many other rounds, including popular use for hunting small-ish game like pigs and coyotes.
Thank you. Really.
Were any of your relatives involved in the national defense? Winter War and Continuation?
>30cpr for FMJ
I saw some supersonic reloads the other day that came out to like 37cpr shipped. Just got myself 1k of factory new S&B 200 grain subs for 49 cpr shipped. It is coming down slowly.
I lust after nammo rounds so fucking hard. But they won't give America any of the good ones.
>Nammo
I think you mean Lapua, they're the ones who manufacture FDF ammunition. They're owned by Nammo, maybe that's why you were confused?
Sako makes top tier brass too, pic related. Expensive as fuck though, at around 1€ a pop (primary reason why I don't shoot my M92S a lot anymore)
no
My great grandfather was. He served at JR 18 (Pori infantry regiment, later JR 8 combined) which was mobilized from the very beginning of a war (Winter War) and was there until the end of the Continuation War, until the peace broke out at 19th August 1944.
I remember my Great grandfather to my early teens as he was 98 yo when he passed.
I know what you mean. Those are something else.
>just watch them hit trees or stones and blasting off chunks out of those
>combat shooting training during my conscription
>see a glimpse of a target flashing through the branches, shoot, move in through the snow, see that glimpse again, shoot, move, glimpse, shoot, move..
>officer calls it off, I am thoroughly sweaty in a middle of a snowbank
>officer calls me to see my results
>17 rounds of my ten double taps are in the moving target, in "lethal location".
>I am allowed to move back to a tent with eight other mates who did as well
>two more got more "training"
>we had a warm tent, and MREs
>Russia stopped using it
except they didn't akms is still front line issue along with special forces using the ak-103-104
>poland still issues akms along with beyrl
>Hungaria still uses amd-65's
>Romania still issues the pm-90 wirefolder
>Bulgaria uses the ar-m1 a modernized milled ak
>china still issues the type 56 to reserve units and even the type 56 sks to even poorer reserve units in remote areas
>France just adopted the cz bren in it
>Italian special forces use a variant of the ar-160 in it
>Finland still uses their RK-95
That mag probably has a higher chance of stopping a bullet than his body armor.
>I think you mean Lapua
Correct.
>confused?
Heh, Lapua is a Finnish factory through and through.
That said, it seems to be that US military trusts Nammo (Norway, Sweden, Finland) in certain particular issues more than in some of their actual NATO allies.
Pic related
nah, Finland uses the Rk-62, the Rk-95 was never fully adopted because they bought east german AKs instead
>Heh, Lapua is a Finnish factory through and through.
Yes, but it isn't Nammo, it's just owned by them. Nammo is Norwegian.
>Nammo is Norwegian
No.
>The company is owned 50/50 by the Norwegian Government (represented by the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries) and the Finnish defence company Patria.
en.wikipedia.org
Patria is 50/50 Norwegian/Finn, so given that Nammo is 50/50 Norwegian/Finn, it means that Nammo is 75/25 Norwegian/Finn. Nammo also has its headquarters in Norway.
Russia is using 5.45 now i reckon?
You really have some optional mathematics at your disposal :DDD
the hijabi in the pink wants the BSC
they issue both still they just continue to make 5.45 guns
A thread died for this.
It will be when mankind goes extinct
It's reborn as a newly-designed cartridge, 6.5 Grendel.
>cheap as fuck
>great for engaging anything within 300 meters
>literal mountains of it everywhere because the cold war happened
>buying shitty wolf bulk of it works well
Its not the absolute greatest cartridge these days but if any faggot tells you its not good they are lying
Hundreds of millions rounds are made every year in Russia alone, and of those a large portion gets shipped to the US civilian market. While the rest gets shipped to foreign countries militaries, for example Venezuela purchased millions of rounds of ammo from Russia in 2006. Finland, Hungary and the Czech Republic also still use it to some extent along with about 50 something other 3rd world countries. There are probably unironically more AK pattern rifles chambered in 7.62x39 in the world than there are currently AR pattern rifles, 100 million plus easy.
That is Type 1 AK BTW
for my my Vz58's main role is trying to clear poachers out of my land. My AR doesn't penetrate trees nearly as well and being able to shoot straight through the only cover those fucks will be using if they get trigger happy is a major advantage
Tell me Finnbro, what's Lakka like?
I want to try it but short of a vacation to Finland ever happening my odds of finding a bottle are zero.
I thought that as well
Why not an AK?
That cartridge has probably killed twice as many people as any other cartridge ever made, show some respect.
What sight do you use
Yes. Sell me all of yours for 5 cents a round.
>Enjoy your cheap surplus ammo*
real lakka is a jam not an alcohol
the fact that we now have reliable ARs in 7.62x39 with mags that aren't shit that are dirt fucking cheap is going to keep 7.62x39 around for a long time in the US.
Seriously, the last 6-12 months have seen these things plummet in price, but not like 6.8spc and 450 bushmaster fire sales to get rid of a dead cartridge. Just enough people are finally tooled up to make these things and they fucking work
I have 2- a 10.5 pistol and a 16in carbine. both run well with ASC and CPD mags, and are fucking fun to shoot. the AR is a much better platform for x39 than the AK ever was.
>we now have reliable ARs in 7.62x39 with mags that aren't shit
Fuck man, which one(s)?
I'm running two different uppers - both from Radical (which I expected to be shit) with BCA bolts (which also I expected to be shit). I did put in extra power hammer springs, but these things run every shit x39 I have tried.
If even radical and BCA can put these things together correctly, literally anyone can.
sorry forgot to add mags - CPD 28 rounders and CPD 10 rounders and ASC 10 rounders. ASC are worse, but still work fine.
54r may have it beat
I'd reckon 8mm killed a lot more than 54r, thing was used by half the world during it's heyday
Some eastern NATO countries don't want to make new weapons so they will keep using it.
Maybe, but 54r was used a lot more post war in plenty of 3rd world countries wars (mosins, svd, pkm etc.) even today, do it may have overtaken 8mm by now. Of course no data and all speculation on all these rounds.
>CPD 28 rounders
Really reliable? As in "I would not bother switching in a 5.56 upper if the race war was very slowly coming down my street" reliable?
reliable as in would shoot any 4 legged animal or take to a run-and-gun event. neither has enough thousands down the tube to rock in the end of the world.
In fairness though, I'm not rocking anything from radical firearms when SHTF
Obviously you'd jump into your Gundam, but right now you have your poverty Grendel and a similar 5.56 upper on you. You have time to pop a few pins out. Do you?
in that scenario, yea I'd go 556. more mags, more time on trigger, and more confidence.
> shooting from 5 meters tops
Piss off, should've at least tried to simulate a realistic combat range. Those woods are open enough that he could've shot from a longer distance
>Is the most popular cartridge in the world a dead cartridge
>he considers 7.62x39 an old cartridge
*laughs in skeleton*
M193 Ball outperforms M43 and M67 (neither of which you're going to find anywhere). Closest thing to surplus ammunition you have now is shitty steel case to plink with (will ice pick soft tissue otherwise)
They needed more armor penetration than 5.56 for close range urban gunfights like at the Paris Bataclan shooting, it's not a half bad choice. Plus a simple barrel/bolt and magwell swap gets them back to 5.56 or .300 blk with the Bren2
>M67
Sgammo has it in stock right now
t. retard
>M193 Ball outperforms M43 and M67
Outperforms at what? Accuracy or range, sure. Barrier penetration? Nope.
>Accuracy or range, sure
And, most importantly, terminal ballistics. M193 has a tendency to fragment, yaw, and/or tumble unlike these fags' corrosive ice pickers
>yaw, and/or tumble
Thats literally what m67 is known for
>_uu.jpg
For someone who's only a medium guy.
lol I sure hope not. It's what I prefer to shoot and what I have stockpiled most. "Dead Round" is a very overused phrase in the online gun community circle jerk.
fuck nah mate, i use it. or i hope its not lmfao
