Not trolling or anything but I don't believe in oiling guns, or at least I'll use as little as humanly possible. Oil does more harm than good in most cases by becoming a magnet for dust and powder residue.

On bearing surfaces I just use a toothpick to put a tiny amount of grease and on guns prone to rusting I use car wax. My guns are all in amazing shape.

just boil it ya pussy

I like it because it's foodsafe
Don't have to wash my hands constantly when they're exposed to the oil I drench my guns in (deep south; humid as fuck)

Whenever I clean pretty dirty guns with ballistol there's always a bit of crud left behind, and things like the burn marks on a cylinder are near impossible to get off with it alone in my experience. I like using it for light cleanings but when i want something really clean I use good ol' hoppes.

You're thinking of grease which is really more fuddlore than anything with minimal evidence to support it. However if you use oil you're supposed to use as little as possible. Excess amounts will just seep out your gun.

Mpro 7 and the slip 2k oils are my favorite. I really liked ALG go juice but I gave my bottle to my brother who needed oil and it was his birthday. I want some more of that stuff. Smelled like crayons or saw dust. It was also very safe and non toxic.

Wheel bearing grease is a better lubricant. Mineral oil is cheaper if you need a liquid for some reason.

Smells good yes, but its just mineral oil. It can be had for VERY CHEAP if you dont buy ballistol.
Also, PSA
>NEVER USE CLP ON GUNS WITH WOOD FURNITURE
>IT CAN FUCK WITH THE FINISH
ALSO:
>Brakleen or other automotive brake cleaners are extremely effective at removing carbon deposits, its what they do. Keep it ventilated though before you turn your brain into a root vegetable.

Anything else Is absolutely haram.

I unironically use prolong super lube mixed with motor oil. It works great and keeps carbon from sticking.

I hear CLP is pretty good

Corrosion X

/thread

CLP is love

On my guns with wood stocks I use ballistol to clean the mechanisms and the bore. I use a rem oil rag on wood stocks.

On my synethitic crap and polymer guns hoppes is fine.

I use 5w-30 motor oil for anything that isn't a pistol slide, bearing grease for slides and 3-in-1 for my AR-15.

I'm glad Rob from IL reviewed this for us otherwise I don't know what the fuck i would've done.

Just use fucking wd40

Doesnt WD-40 corrode primers? I use it to clean my guns, but I always try to get all if it off the gun before lubing.

Grease is just thickened oil. If you can't imagine why oil that's so thick it doesn't run everywhere has uses on slide rails and BCGs then get the fuck outta here.

the WD-40 used in the test is the WD-40 Specialist, not normal WD-40.

Literally the only thing i use on my guns is PB Blaster, to clean and lube. Never had any issues.

>IF UR DICK LIKES IT UR GUN WILL TOO

I'll use a calcium sulfonate base grease or PTFE base grease. Buying a tube pretty much lasts forever.

Like he said.
WD-40 is not primarily a lubricant so much as a penetrative oil and water displacer. If you need to get something that has siezed to move again, WD-40 is perfect. If you want to keep something lubricated like a bolt/bcg, WD-40 isn't as good for that kind of application.
Different tools for different uses, you wouldn't use a socket wrench to drill a hole and you wouldn't use a screwdriver to change a tire.

god ur guns must stink so fuckin bad

They dont smell at all, why would they? You can only smell it if you put your nose up to them. I like the smell of PB Blaster, who doesnt?

I use a thin layer of white lithium grease on moving parts then spray thin layer of CLP on the internals for rust prevention. I then take a rag sprayed with CLP and wipe down the exterior. The grease makes cleaning a little more difficult but I autisticly clean my guns anyway so it’s fine

That link shows WD-40 to have better corrosion protection and lubricity than most gun-specific products.

Just goes to show what a shameful bunch of fools the community is.

why not be a naturalist, and use castor oil thats been used for like, hundreds of yrs??

OP is not faggot, this is true

i don't like wearing hazmat to clean my guns. with ballistol you don't have to do that

It's on the light side for lubrication, but it's a excellent cleaner and protectant.

And it's completely non toxic and skin safe, you could even consume it, I like being able to spray my shit down and not have to worry about the wood/plastic or anything else getting messed up.

I used to use mpro7 cleaner but ended up switching to the original hoppes bore cleaner. Still use the mpro7 oil for all my firearms
