Is the pony tax a complete meme for 1911s? Besides cool factor, is there a reason I should drop a couple of hundred more on a Colt Competition instead of a Ruger SR1911?

get the ruger if you're gay

So if you are gay you can buy all the rugers and holosuns you want? If you are gay you are allowed to save money?

The colt competition has a match barrel and also some sort of dual recoil spring for whatever. If those are important for you

Honestly I wouldn’t bother.

no you're just poor. normal people can spend thousands of dollars on guns

No, they're actually some of the best 1911 you can buy and fantastic for the money.

Love my SR1911

And I love my 1911 Competition

0/10, apply yourself faggot

Attached: 1386979449517.jpg (520x638, 63K)

My ruger sr1 both functions flawlessly and shoots better then I can. And as a bonus it doesn’t have the Taurus poorfag roll mark banner on the side

Get the Colt, I totally regret selling my series 70 I wish I still had it.

Getting pos cast frame over forged...

Im more of imbel forged Springfield professional guy myself but jeeze even askung that stupid question thats like we all already know you cant appreciate or too poor to swing for colt or nice springer.

If you are s o y b o y that dont shoot thousands of rounds per month or two you will be fine w gross castshit. But you speak of few hundred like its your child... if you cant drop grand time to time and not miss it you have already failed and will continue to be failure.

Kys cast nigger

Oh and dan wesson BTFO colt on quality slide to frame fit and springer too for price level.

Old colt > ruger > new colt

Attached: 20180804_131107.jpg (1887x2080, 2.69M)

When I see people pull out their Ruger and Taurus pistols I automatically think they're gay

Man I’m glad I got a 1911 as one of my first guns, but I shouldn’t have gone so cheap. I got RIA and it has this really weird trigger relative to a few other 1911s I’ve shot.

This

colts are forged frames

>0/10
well, he got you to reply
>apply yourself faggot
well, he got you mad enough to reply.

seems like he scored a solid 5/10

>no exterior extractor
colt is a boomer meme that even boomers stopped believing in after they stopped making revolvers and released the all american

I know that ya nigger it was referring to getting ruger castshit over colt or springer

Note how i say i was more of springer guy opposed to colt. See how i specified where springer frame are forged in imbel factory in brazil you nigger.

Think i didn't know colt are forged?! jesus!

> Exterior extractor on 1911
> not being able to have expert gun builder to tune extractor so you go ez cheap route of external extractor that can be accidentally pressed in rear causing extractor to pivot on pin to unlatch rim when manipulating the slide
Sig/sw 1911 fanboy you go fucking burn in hell.

where are modern colts made?

>buying Springfield
>calling someone else an o n i o n s
Fucking lul

> Not respecting springer pro
> confirmed nigger

Colt have their own forging. they do their own ar15 receivers too

Colt in general has forged frames, tool steel extractors, and a nicer finish over Ruger.

The Competition has a match barrel, M45 dual recoil spring, VZ G10 grips, an undercut trigger guard, and a fiber optic front sight over the SR 1911 specifically.

>supporting traitors
>confirmed grabber

The difference is that the Colt will actually work. And I don't know what the fuck you mean pony tax. The price difference is less than $100 if you shop online, and the Colt is a better gun.

Gays should be sterilized and lobotomized.

Show proof that the Rugers don't work.

>Gays should be sterilized and lobotomized.
so you want a bunch of gay retards running around instead of just gays?

>gay retard
This kind of phrase is called a tautology, like "female actress."

The trurth is self evident.

>The trurth is self evident.
>"I'm wrong and I know it, but I'm too pathetic to admit it."

I haven't shot any new colts, but I have a series 80 and an old delta elite. Both are nice and great shooters.

>>/fb/1911 Outlaws

Different guy here ruger will work but wont last nearly as long as colt and i just thought other DAMNING point is that colt will hold its value WAY better and resale faster like how Toyota tacoma/undra hold their value verse ford/ram/chevy medium and 150/1500 series

>please spoonfeed me so I can save $70 on a ~$700 gun purchase

Nigger, if you make a claim, it lies on you to provide even a shred of evidence to support it.

This is what gays actually believe lol.

Actually gays believe people should just take it at their word that they're born as faggots instead of choosing to be that way.
Which is it for you? You born a faggot or you one by choice?

Yea, back when they were the only reasonably priced and reasonably reliable show in town it made sense to go with a colt if you wanted a functional 1911. But it isn't the 70s anymore and colts quality has gone downhill considerably while the number of competent competitors has gone up just as much. There's no reason at all to drop 900$ on pic related when those dollars would get you a superior product from competitors. Specifically in that price range i hear that Sigs are a pretty good option. Really though as a personal matter i have a hard time justifying buying new production 1911s in the 900-1100$ range given the current market. Clearly if you're willing to throw that much change around you either have the self restraint to set cash aside for important purchases or a moderate amount of disposable income. In either case waiting on a LNIB dan wesson to pop up for 1100 or saving up the extra money for a new one makes a lot more sense in the long term IMO given that they're head and shoulders above anything in the market with a 15-20% price increase if you're concerned with pinching pennies. I understand buying a 700-800 dollar entry 1911 to get your toes wet and see if you like the design, but those mid priced guns are just hard for me to personally justify.
My ruger worked fine and that's the general consensus of just about everyone else who owns them.. The SR1911 is a perfectly fine 1911 and a great value considering their features/reliability and that lightly used ones can be readily found for 600+/-50 IME.

>sig 1911

Dont listen to this guy nobody want sig 1911 for reason they are abomination

Buy dan wesson

Is there any downside to a Colt Competition over an SR1911 for baby's first 1911 other than being more expensive?
I was considering an SR1911 night watchman because I don't like stainless, but it doesn't seem much cheaper than a Colt competition while having slightly less features.

>providing evidence with a claim
>here

Where do you think you are?

Not only does the competition come in blued finish, it's $100 cheaper than the stainless version.

>Reddit spacing
>here
Nigger where do you think you are?

And you lock your lips around their dick?

Sig 1911s cannot pass the extractor test. Plus they look weird.

>Different guy here ruger will work but wont last nearly as long as colt
You got some proof?

They should put this on the colt ads

Colts are not a good deal these days, and they have lost a lot of their edge over the competition.

A Ruger 1911 beats out Colt on value, while a Dan Wesson massively beats out Colt on quality.

The Colt Combat Unit always interested me for its dual recoil spring setup, but that said I think OP should get the Ruger. I just can't think of a single good reason to pay more for a base model Colt over an SR1911.

Also, anyone implying Ruger is Taurus-tier is an absolute fucking retard.

>Gays should be sterilized
>gays
>sterilization
what did he mean by this?

No, I giggle as they tell me how sturdy and reliable their Bersa Thunders are.

Pony Tax is a meme on any gun today. On older guns, might be worth it, but not on any current production.

You need to save money for AIDS treatments if you're gay.

You need to get some different grips for that gun user.

You need to get better taste

>No, I giggle as they tell me how sturdy and reliable their Bersa Thunders are.
A Ruger 1911 is infinitely better than a fucking Bersa or Taurus quality-wise, and you fucking know it.

I taste fine.

Right, that's why I'm considering it. I just want to know if any of the things added are "bad" for 1911 beginners compared to something simpler, like the dual spring or whatnot.
It's not a good reason but I don't like stainless and the SR1911 is stainless-only unless I cough up extra for the night watchman model, which is approaching colt money.

I unironically think smith and wesson makes the best 1911s.

You could always replace the dual recoil spring with a conventional single spring if you needed to.

I've got a Remington Rand.

Why not get the Ruger and if you wear it out, you can replace it with a Colt. :)

I have the Ruger SR1911, it shoots great and I never looked back. One of my buddies shot mine and went out and got himself one.

Why buy two when you can just buy one?

Attached: dan-wesson-specialist-lasd-light.jpg (900x675, 77K)

I believe the Ruger is patterned on a 70 Series design, not the 80 Series design which mean it has an aftermarket parts compatibility with 70 series parts. The intent at Ruger was to make a 1911 that would appeal to purists. I have not found a need for any after market parts except for Wilson mags, and I'd like to put in some night sights and blade rear.

Honestly the Springfield Milspec is great ($650), as is the Series 80 ($100 more) or the Series 70 ($200 more). If you want something to upgrade I’d get the Springer. If you want something high end I’d stick with the TRP or a Dan Wesson.

You'll never "wear out" an SR1911, come on now.

You're right. They should really be castrated. The point is to stop their ability to act as a vector for disease, like mosquitoes.

You absolutely can. It's still a 1911 made out of steel. It'll just cost so much in ammo that you should have bought a Dan Wesson in the first place.

I had to replace the mainspring, recoil spring and extractor spring in mine because it was 77 years old and had been in three wars.

>You absolutely can
I don't doubt it's possible, I doubt that anyone here ever will. If you can actually afford the ammo to wear out a decently manufactured 1911 then money clearly isn't much of an issue for you, which kind of renders this thread moot.

Well, this is as good a place as any to ask this question.
I've got a 1972 Mark IV with some weird shit happening in the slide-stop pocket on the slide.
Machining aside (don't know if the previous order tried to do some shitty smithing himself) what's with that little chipped area encircled? It doesn't seem like a crack as I can't find it coming through the other side of the slide. Should I be worried about it? I love shooting the thing and it's real accurate for what it is.

Attached: IMG_9799.jpg (2448x2448, 540K)

It doesn't look like it will cause an issue as far as structural integrity is concerned, but by god is it ugly.

Good picture, though.

just get a nighthawk u cunt.

Yeah, I know it's ugly (the slide stop itself doesn't mate very well in there) but boy if this thing doesn't shoot pretty well for a loose gun.

Attached: IMG_9206.jpg (1800x2400, 1.31M)

Nighthawk use cast caspian frame....

I respect caspian but... i prefer forged m8
