I just had an accidental discharge.
This could’ve been much worse. I stayed up too late and was racking the slide throughout the night while I was breaking in the trigger. I racked a round while I was playing video games and I forgot about it. And I shot a round into my upper wall/ceiling area.
I’m surprisingly calm and my ears aren’t ringing. I’m emotionally terrified now.

I’ve shot it tons of times at the range but this is a different story. When they say “surprise yourself with the round when you slowly squeeze the trigger” they weren’t lying. It felt like the recoil was hardly anything. I don’t know if the ported barrel has that much to do with it or not. There are people in the house still asleep.

This is the best way to learn to NEVER load a live round unless you're about to shoot or about to cc it or store it for HD. Don't ever make that mistake again, first rule treat all guns like they are loaded fammo.

Honestly I understand racking and dry firing guns absent mindedly while bumming around on the couch or whatever, but why the hell you would do so with ammo around is beyond me.

Nice trips. And it was mostly a jumpscare and confusion. I just couldn't believe that it happened, and I was almost convinced that that wasn't what really happened, but the second the smell of gunpowder hit my nose, I was in full panic mode, and I was almost checking myself to see if I hit myself. Didn't realize where anything went until a full minute or so had passed.

I got to comfortable around my guns man. I started treating them like a set of car keys whenever I leave the house. It was always in my center console or near my bedstand. I need to realize (obviously) the severity of what I have done for a change in the thought process to occur. This cannot happen again or I’m selling every single firearm I have.

I don’t know why I’m answering this because I’ve explained this and need to go to bed. You know that feeling where you’ve done something accidentally and felt bad about it? I’m never going to get that pull of the trigger back. The best I can do is learn from this. I know I should’ve cleared it. I did something fucking dumb. I took out the mag and was testing the trigger and I put the mag in, tacked it, took it out, played some video games, and shot off a round with no mag loaded in the well some time later. I know I fucked up.

This was the first semiauto shotgun he had ever owned and in trying to unload it he shot a round into the floor, my brother in the other room didn't even notice and we nexver told anyone, until he died a few years ago I told my mother
