Homeless user here, going to MEPS right now for “‘medical inspect”, “job counseling” and swear-in. Will I get fucked for not having any socks? Recruiter said for inspect they’ll prolly just check my weight. Probably over thinking this but I checked the MEPS dress code and it said socks are required. My last pair ripped a week ago and I had to toss em.
I want off this wild ride guys. Almost there.

you'll have to remove the socks for the weight/height segment anyways, so you'll be fine, just don't make it obvious

How likely are you to get arrested for doing your job?

Also what compels someone to become a member of NCIS, CID, or an MP?

Attached: NCIS.jpg (356x500, 41K)

I didn't get a response from last thread so I'll try again and I better get a real answer

I am uncomfortable being nude around others. Can I get a waiver to shower separately? Or at least wear a bathing suit during the showers?

>18 years old, 5”10, 195lbs

I can only do maybe 10 push ups, 1 pull up and 4 chin ups but I’m doing better.

I’m trying to get into the Air Force for a security job to help me become a police officer later on (and to get a car and apartment after getting out of service). Is there anything I should know before signing up? What’s the pay like?

Attached: E00C45D1-7DAF-4CAC-AC72-C95549F027E4.png (1125x2001, 3.57M)

>Will I get fucked for not having any socks?
no, if anyone asks, just say you don
t wear any, with the weirdos and crazy recruiters send to MEPS, they wont blink. If you normally freeball it, DON'T, or they will give you what is just a pair of pantyhose to wear

>help me become a police officer later on
What the fuck, just apply for the police job you idiot. You can get a criminal justice degree from any cheap community college.

I was uncomfortable too, however when they make you do shower drills where 50 people have 6 minutes to shower, you stop caring

Pay is garbage, but you don't have any bills. Police don't give a shot about what you do on the military, they just care if you were in at all. SecFo is generally regarded as trash, so pick a job you find interesting. Don't fall for the job description of SecFo, you will be checking IDs for 12 hours a day and working on holidays everyone else has off

Most police departments require cadets to be at least 21 or 20 1/2 when they apply. He could spend 3 or 4 years in the military

I souldn't even change in the locker room growing up, after the Army, I couldn't care less. You'll get pushed out of your comfort zone while in the military, just accept it.

don't be a fag, after a minute in the military being naked around others will be no big deal.

how long does amphetamine take to get out of your system

Well right now I am at a cheap community college but I’m working towards a transfer degree to get a bachelors in CJ at a college that won’t be looked down upon.

I’m honestly not that interested in many jobs in the military, I just want the pay and experience but I don’t have any technical skills and also don’t want to be in more than 4 years.

>bachelors in CJ at a college that won’t be looked down upon

Its a bachelors in CJ, it will always be looked down on.

Attached: i seriously hope you don't crash this plane.jpg (500x610, 61K)

What? I didn’t know CJ was one of those meme degrees like Political Science or some shit.

Honestly though I know I’m too young to say this is definitely true, but I really think that if I can’t work in law enforcement I might as well work at a convenient store, so the degree is still probably worth it

Reposting from previous thread:

How hard is it to get an Option 40 contract later in the (fiscal) year? I read that contracts get doled out at the start of the gubmint's fiscal year (October 1st), and that the best time to try and secure one is around that time. I'd like to enlist in about 4-6 months, but I'm worried I'd have trouble getting an Opt. 40, so I'm considering enlisting in December instead. On the other hand, I still want to work on my physical fitness and I'd prefer not to enlist until I'm confident that I'm 100% ready to go.

Not hard at all, tell your recruiter what you want and once it's available you'll get it

Focus on PT, Option 40's will always be there. Even if you have to wait 5 months for one like me.

Thanks bruvs.

will a microbiology degree with a shitty gpa get me into ocs

>top secret investigation in progress
>listed 2 professors from years ago in college as reference after asking
>one professor emailed back after interview saying she couldn't speak about my character because it was 3 years ago and classes are too large

Am I going to get reclassed into a job that doesn't require TS? I was anti-social in college with literally 0 friends and had like a 3 year NEET phase living with my parents, but that would probably alert the investigators. My 3 personal references can vouch for my personality, but I have like a blank spot in college because of no contacts lol

feels bad man

Attached: Anime.jpg (1000x1502, 246K)

fucking Atropians

you're not the first anti-social person to go for a TS. wait until you have your personal interview/adjudication thing and just say that. if you were being rejected a TS you'd know

Is the personal interview/adjudication thing the first interview you have with them? I met the investigators once already where they basically just ran through all the questions on the SF-86 again and collected more information.

Does a 3 year contract still get me free college and a Camaro

Attached: B50A6EA6-E9FA-4461-92CB-54FBB985C93B.png (500x561, 159K)

yea

>free college

a portion of it is paid, you don't get the full GI

>Camaro

You don't need a uniform to go into debt buying one

>>Camaro
>You don't need a uniform to go into debt buying one
Can confirm. I'm not in uniform but kept myself in debt by buying a Charger

"no"

no, you get the full post-9/11 with a 3 year.
You're thinking of 2 year contracts.

>For the SEALs, the problem extends beyond the officer corps into the enlisted ranks. Of its enlisted men, 45 SEALs are black, or about 2% of the 2,242 members of its elite force. There are more SEALs — 99, or 4% of the enlisted force — who are Native Americans or Alaska natives.

Among Army Green Berets, 85% of its 1,494 officers are white and 4.5% are black. Its 5,947 enlisted Green Berets are 86% white and 5.4% black.

For the Air Force's para-rescue jumpers, highly trained airmen who search for missing troops, only one of 166 is black, or .6% of that force.

Attached: laughing aussie cunts.gif (480x270, 273K)

>expecting blacks to take a job in the military that requires hard work
The general rule of thumb for slackers and lazy fuckers that just want to get comped and paid on the 1st and 15th is to take the jobs with the most blacks. They will put effort into nothing except figuring out a way to take it easy.

asking for this too. I have a shitty gpa in social work

Future enlisted who "plans on going officer" spotted.

Checked

I just assumed this was bait. You'll get over it.

You don't need any technical skills. They teach you as if you never did the job in your life for every job

Why do you want to be a cop so much?

Easy to Google gi bill eligibility and requirements

Guy has a fetish for wrestling naked niggers on PCP and you can't get a degree in that.

WOFT Street to Seat doesn't require a board anymore lads USAREC is that desperate

I know this is a military enlistment thread, but what if I want to go to OTS or OCS?

I heard Marine OCS requires 5 fucking letters of recommendation.

I'm more partial to OTS but I know you have to pass the AFOQT. Was there anything else beyond that?

What jobs are you looking at? Marine OCS is going to be intense physically, and even if you aren't an infantry officer, you'll still have to undergo that training. 5 LOR is higher than the Navy's 3 LOR minimum. Commissioning in the Air Force will be tougher, and the wait will be longer, but that's the branch everyone wants to be in for good reasons.

Take a look at the jobs you want to do, and then consider what branch would fit those the best. If you want to fly, Navy has just as much opportunity (and much shorter wait) than AF. Army has loads of different career paths with their officers that the other branches don't have or have in much smaller supply. Being an officer is better than enlisted in a lot of ways, but the responsibility is a heavy weight to carry, multiplied by each man under your command.

OTS you get stuck in montgomery for 12 weeks
that's hellish

Be careful man, the Air Force is the thoughest branch around:

That’s definitely true. Their Drill Sergeants were probably more restrictive but they said they barely did the ftx’s

How was Ft. Jackson? I'm shipping there on Monday.

Which branch's OCS variant is easiest to get accepted to?

Does the quality of life differ much between branches from junior officers?

Sup bros, navy e5 here considering going blue to green. Any army friends here have experience with that, or know of people who do? I've got two years left in my contract. 24 if that matters.

Google it they have info for it on the army website, also I've heard it's very difficult.

So, I'm joining Army EOD and it says that i'm going to be interviewed by and EOD officer. What questions is he going to ask me? How should a respond? What questions should i ask him?
Any advice y'all give me would be appreciated.

CJ is what you major in if you’re retarded

Thanks guys. Luckily there were 2 other applicants who had to do the medical inspect too so their attention was pretty split. One of the other applicants noticed I didn’t have socks and gave me a weird look but who gives a fuck. I’m officially in the Air Force. They’re trying to pull hella strings to get me to ship out to basic next Tuesday.
Cheers guys.

then the Navy accepts a fuckton of retarded people since a huge # of the SNA/SNFO people I met at OCS were CJ majors

Hey /Meg/ did anyone else here grow up in a military family? I know I can go down whatever path I want but I feel like there's a lot of pressure for me to enlist due to keeping up tradition, does anyone else feel this way?

That’s nothing, had a kid who wore flip flops to meps with me. They sent him home.

Your life your decisions don't let anyone else make them for you.

Well, I made it through meps alright but a bit late since my ear had wax in it. I signed for master at arms because they told me and another navy dude that Chicago was offline and I couldn't become a ctr that day. They told me that I had to turn in a pssq or something like that which I did and they'll message my recruiter within a week or two for ctr. How fucked am I if any of this goes wrong? If shit goes wrong, is master at arms some airforce security forces type shit?

Why does "my daddy was in the military" matter? Who even said it was tradition and not just people doing their own thing and it happened to be similar?
Doing because someone else did is stupid. Join if you want, don't join if you don't want to.

>signing a contract you don't want
Good job you did it wrong and now they're much less obliged to help you out. I would be surprised if the CTR bit was true.

Attached: 1540224007339.gif (200x234, 2.85M)

I got out and am going to go army so not really blue to green. Obviously your MOS choices are limited.

MA is a horrible job
that gif is also horrible

EMN3(SS) here to answer questions for future nukes

That's not remotely true lol. Tell the recruiter you'll no show your ship date if you don't get a DAR to CTR

What is the practical difference between EMN and ETN? I'd prefer ETN but from what I've read that's the hardest nuke rate to pick up.

Don't tell me, tell him. He signed a rate he knows barely anything about already, they know what they're dealing with

>how long does amphetamine take to get out of your system

2-3 days in most cases.

Are you Navy or some other branch? Signing at MEPS for a rate that you have zero intention to ship for is rather common. I did that for CTN since you have to do some security thing for the CT rates at MEPS and depending on time of day they don't populate. I signed HM and later DARd to CTN. As long as you've been clear with your recruiter on your intentions it's easy to switch

So you haven't done your job right and can moslty talk on the schooling?
Are you happy and ready to do your job?
Did you do well in high school? Seriously because you can't be too bad at schoolwork to do nuke schooling but I doubt it's similar enough to be apt for gauging

Nah I'm a marine. Every sailor I talked to who has a good rate signed for it there and I've never heard a story of signing for one rate with the intent to switch over.
For Marines and army the rule of thumb is to never sign anything you don't fully agree to as is or you will get fucked.
I've know sailors who denied what was offered at meps and then went back no prob though
If it's common that'd be the first time mentioned in meg where up until now the advice in this situation was to say you'll come back when it's available

...

If you say you'll come back when it's available depending on the rate you risk alienating your recruiter. I know it's reddit but: reddit.com/r/newtothenavy/comments/8x27xr/heres_how_you_get_the_exact_rate_you_want_when/ is a pretty good overview of it. Also my understanding is that Marines/Army pick their jobs at the office not at MEPS like the Navy does

not him but

>What is the practical difference between EMN and ETN
they arent alike at all
>I'd prefer ETN but from what I've read that's the hardest nuke rate to pick up.
not at all
>So you haven't done your job right and can moslty talk on the schooling?
Hes SS, thats his warfare pin. Hes done his job big time.

Naval aviation is basically the meat grinder of college students that didn't get a high enough GPA to apply for SWO

Recruiterfag (US Army) here.

Go get test and phys qualed in the mean time. That'll give your recruiter a little more leverage in getting that option 40 you want.

True, just pay attention to what it's attached to.

Again true. They pop up all the time.

The fundamental difference that I've found is watchstanding and maintenance.

As far as watchstanding goes, eventually as an ETN you will be a reactor operator, in charge of the reactor itself as well as the primary valves and pumps associated with it. With maintenance, all your stuff is mostly done with a computer and is tedious and time consuming when it comes around and requires a ton of paperwork. The enlistment bonuses and advancement opportunities(without reenlisting) are WAY higher than EMN granted you make it out of the pipeline. I still don't know by what criteria they go by to pick rates at boot camp, but they will sit you down with the nuke counselor and ask for your wish list: ETN, EMN, MMN. I'm pretty sure anyone who picks ETN as their first pick gets because the retention rate is so fucking low.

As an EMN, you'll ulitmately become an electrical operator, in charge of the electric plant of a submarine(or AC). S9G plant has made it super easy to control, and ultimately there's not as much responsibility as a reactor operator, as the plant will take care of itself. Maintenance requires long hours(A month before deployment I was often there from 0600 to 1800 while also have to qualify). EMN's also have the biggest workload of any division on the boat. It's a lot less stressful in progress than ETN maintenance. As far as advancement and reenlistment bonuses, get fucked.

Also get a 90+ ASVAB score, I guess. ETN's do have the hardest time through the pipeline.

Why is he a 3rd class then I thought nukes promoted fast is this a lie

What's the current environment for RE-3 waivers that aren't misconduct-based? I quit Navy OCS because I realized I didn't want to do the job I had signed up for and wasn't able to change it at OCS.

Yeah, that 5% advancement and being unwilling to reenlist makes me a fuckup...

Whatcha gonna do?

Thanks. I don't really like soldering so I was trying to avoid EMN

Maybe he just hasnt had the chance to make 2nd yet.
Not sure what this means. Are you trying to say its 5% to ETN2? Cause thats a complete lie.

You shouldnt be going NUKE at all ever.

If my recruiter is such a faggot he is willing to potentially fuck me over because he wants to be difficult then I have no problem going elsewhere personally

Why gamble on what you want? There's no benefit imo
They do sign in the office but job availability is still a thing. They usually try to push you into what's open now and some lie to get you there.

Honestly, I just want to get out with an HD and go back to college and just live out a boring life. I want to start a family and submarining + nuke life isn't conducive to the kind of parent/husband I want to be forever.

>WOFT Street to Seat doesn't require a board anymore lads USAREC is that desperate

All USAREC did was eliminate the BN board. The WOFT packet still gets reviewed at a centralized board before being accepted or denied.

I've never done soldering as an EMN, ETN's do the soldering and it's usually only 1 guy in the entire division that's able to do it

I understand that, but it's a LOT different to walk away from a recruiter's office and say I'll come back another day than to do it at MEPS.

Jesus christ. I said I was an electrician. Our advancement is shit. ETN's can make ETN2 off the exam with little effort and no NJP.

I thought EMNs were the more hands on soldering types, guess I was wrong.

Good luck man. If you wanna go to a fancy college which is worth the research whether you think you do or don't then check out programs like service 2 school and stuff.
I know MIT has had a few nukes go in after service even.

Attached: 1529620182048m.jpg (818x1024, 152K)

We handle all the big shit. Pumps, motors, generators, motor controllers, fuse panels, lighting, etc.

ETN's will do all your integrated circuit/reactor shit.

Youre right my mistake, youre still lying though.
public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/enlisted/community/nuclear/Documents/EMN Career Path.pdf

I just want to go back to Auburn, AL. It's a good university(Not great), but it's my home. Thanks for the kind wishes.

It's 4+ years of your life you're gambling. I don't think you understand the impact that can have. I'm saying I'd go to meps later and if the recruiter wanted to throw a fit it's on them.
Bitch to me chief or the lpo or something. If you actually handle it like an adult I would be shocked if they let you walk out of the door because you wanted a specific and probably hard to recruit for rate like CT
