Usually they range from $700 - $1,100, but occasionally I'll see one or two for ~$600. This is what it looked like when I picked mine up for $550. I think it was the first AK-74 I'd ever seen at a gunshow.

The cheap 5.45 ammo is what kept it from being available. Nobody could compete with surplus crates being unloaded at 12-15cpr shipped. The situation was similar when norinco 7.62x39 dried up, only since 04 has the 7.62x39 market recovered enough to support multiple manufacturers domestically and internationally producing 7.62x39 for the civilian sporting market.
