So I have a problem Jow Forums.
I'm getting into prepping and I want a gas mask just in case we get Mossad'd.
Problem is that I have glasses and I'm having trouble finding a gas mask that can be worn over glasses and still have an air tight seal.
Contacts won't exactly be practical in a SHTF situation, and 2 piece respirators are a bit iffy.
Any suggestions?

It depends on how bad your eyes are, chemicals'n shit wont stay in the air forever hopefully so if your eyesight is decent enough you can fumble your way out of the inflicted area where you can then take off the mask and put on your glasses. I guess you can just hope that you wont get into a firefight.
Suggestion is not to worry about it because any serious CRBN threat is going to fuck you up gas mask or not.
The only thing gas masks are going to protect you from is particulates, and for that pretty much anything including a piece of cloth will work.
Just get inserts if you want. I'm sure someone makes them.
Look for the abc schutzmaske 65 of the Austrian army they have the option of putting extra glases inside. The schutzmaske 2000 should also have this option but I'm not sure

There are plenty of modern full face resperators with a full face window. They're not going to have the look but they will be better than the millsurp since you have access to a variety of new filters that are standardized. It is most likely not going to be useful anyway from the gas attack perspective. You won't have any way to detect gas that doesn't result in you dying shortly thereafter. Unless you just never stop wearing it. Also gasses nowadays are dangerous from contact.

Protip: You don't need to buy frames with your lenses!
You can go on eBay and type in "gas mask glasses frames" and you can find some that are designed to work with gas masks. They're pretty cheap too. Hope this helps, I know the pain.
Something along the lines of a PPM-88 should work for anything that won't just kill you outright.
For that matter you're probably better off with something industrial from 3M if you're not a LARPer.
Almost all milsurp masks use the standard 40mm nato thread (the standard) The ones that dont are some Chinese knock-offs cheek filter masks and russian masks which use 40mm gost threads and a few 60mm masks but you can just get a adapter for those.

This. Most of the industrial hazmat grade gas masks are better options for a reasonable chemical threat that would occur if SHTF. If the NWO starts dropping VX in your neighborhood a fucking Chinese surplus gas mask isn't going to do shit for you without a full MOPP suit anyways.

How do the civilian 3m type masks (full face) compare to military gas masks. I understand that the military masks filter is far better at keeping out gas over particulates which the 3m masks are for but I was wondering if there were filters I could get for the 3m’s that would do the job?
Get a pair of your glasses. Break them, you fucking nerd. Afix the lense parts inside the oculars of your mask by whatever means that doesn't compromise the mask. Badabingbadaboom, your seeing the nuclear wasteland in full hd once more.
They always said in the army that cs gas etc. Would melt contacts lenses to your eyes, I have no idea if there is any truth to that at all though.
I don't think CS actually melts contacts do your eyes, and its more of a myth. It does however make contact with the gas much more unpleasant, and also it makes you more likely to seriously injure your eyes by rubbing, etc.

Just break a cheap pair of large lenses and affix inside.
CS gas will not melt contacts to your eyes. It is a nerve irritant, you will risk scratching your eyes though if you rub them, the same way you normally would.
Contacts are proven to melt to your eyes in the event of an IED if you're stuck near the heat, that's no joke and the reason why you cannot wear them in the field.
Military also doesn't like how unsanitary they become in field conditions.
