Poorfag here. Why do people talk so much shit about Kel-Tec? What's wrong with their guns?

the fit and finish is garbage and the polymer they use is toy tier
they're also a pain in the ass to disassemble due to the millions of screws used
Sour grapes. Their production runs are so low nobody can find what they want.
>why
4 teh lulz
>wut wrongs
nothing really
>shit construction
>space age polymer meme
>made to look cool, not functional
>extreme emphsis on point #3
>did I mention plastix
Their pistols have a very long track record of being unreliable and having really shit triggers and sights.
Their rifles are:
1. Flimsy
2. Overpriced
3. Produced in way-too-small numbers to meet the demand so frequently get listed well above MSRP
Many people also think the "wood screws and ABS plastic" look is hideous, although this is subjective.
The RFB and RDB are kind of breaking out from their cheap-garbage history but due to their very low production numbers, weird appearance, and absurdly high MSRP they're getting lumped in with the likes of the Sub2k that breaks at 2000 rounds and the P3AT that as far as anybody can tell has jammed during every defensive use it's ever been used in.
Their handguns literally jam at least one per magazine.
The KSG had a history of people's hands slipping off on the forward pump causing them to shoot themselves in the hand.
Memes.
I own a couple lelkeks. I enjoy every one of them. They are fun and interesting but definitely nothing more than range toys. Maybe I could see using my rfb but aside from that, just fun range toys. I highly suggest the pmr 30. Load noise, big fireball, no recoil, cheap ammo.
They're the Nintendo console of guns
A high quality, extremely polished experience that cant be found anywhere else?
The RDB can be found for $700-$800, though
Hes saying it's like a toy. It's a really bad comparison really. Probably more like one of those cheap rip-offs of Nintendo
bullshit. And you're stupid as fuck.
still reallyyyy want a RDB.
i despise the waffle texture more than anything
Convince me not to get an RFB or a .308 RDB if that ever comes out.
where tho
I want an rdb, but that's just because I'm a retard for bullpups, and it's an affordable bullpup rifle with a 17 inch barrel.
My biggest gripe with them is they cut corners in the worst way. Saving on cost, great! But when that rolls over into compromising something in the gun it's too far and it happens every single damn time.
Example, the mag catch/release on the RDB. Literally just a piece of bent metal that clamps itself onto the receiver via tension and as such is prone to and notorious for dropping mags on recoil. This could be easily fixed by making it captive instead.
Or, say, the guts of the sub2k. If you've ever taken one apart to pop in a new trigger you'll know exactly what I mean, they're a complete fucking mess and would be 5,000x easier to work on if they'd just added a bit more geometry to it, but no, gotta save a quarter of a cent on em lol. This wouldn't be a problem if the trigger wasn't so absolute ass out of the box, but it is, so it's basically necessary.
Hell lets keep going, talk about the KSG. Biggest problem with them is the short shucking nonsense. The last quarter inch of travel is responsible for kicking out the next shell, and MAN is it stiff. It's fine if you know what you're doing, but it shouldn't be like that in the first place.
RFB... Honestly haven't had any issues with mine. Feels a lot better than the rest for some reason. Don't have a CMR30 yet so can't comment on those, and anyone who buys a keltec pistol deserves the issues.
Their hand guns are kind of Taurus tier cheap shit.
Their rifles are pretty decent though, but a lot of people assume they're the same low quality as their handguns.
The rifles are built better but not that much better. The price comes from limited supply and the gimmick.
When you compare keltec to something in the same price range the othergun runs circles around it in build quality and materials. However you cant justify it like that cause keltecs gimmick makes it unique.
Their fit and finish is still leagues above CZ
Keltecs gimmicks are what make them great and I just wish another company could buy the rights to those designs and just make them in a better package. Their downward ejection bullpup is such a simple solution to an old problem; why not one in better quality plastic + some aluminum + pins instead of screws?
Then get one they’re cool.
Gunbroker.
The newer production mag releases work far better but are the same basic design.
Having owned a few LEL-KEKs, the Sub-2000 was fine, the RFB I had blew primers. Using cheap phillips head screws to hold the Mattel plastic together doesn't inspire In-the-field confidence. I wouldn't mind trying out an RDB though.
>The newer production mag releases work far better but are the same basic design.
I am aware and they still fail far more than is acceptable.
I don't know. I love the KSG & SUB-2000.
Interesting ideas but Floridian implementation.
>RFB... Honestly haven't had any issues with mine. Feels a lot better than the rest for some reason.
Because they put the $1800 of quality into it.
More like they've had over a decade to work out the kinks. Paid 1k flat for mine.
Post bds friend
they have some interesting stuff, but they don't make much of it, and it's hard to disassemble, plus the waffle texture is really autistic, desu.
t. sub 200 owner.
>nobody can find them so people price gouge on gun broker for their newest toy
>production ramps up
>by then people realize their new gun is a piece of shit gimmick like the rest of the line-up
>Kel-tec gets stuck eating a huge annual loss for expanding, hiring, and then overproducing a gun people don't want anymore
>repeat
Surprised they're still in business honestly. People shelling out $700 online for PMR-30's was peak bubba stupidity.
