Should i get a screamsaex or a regular knife for innawoods camping?

get a puuko from a standard manufacturer if you want a good quality knife 6-10" long.
for non meming purposes
>buy and bring the tools you need, not a master of none
short fixed blade or swiss army knife with a blade lock and a hatchet. Batoning is a meme. The becker bk9 and all knives like it are a meme. You need something handy and sharp and a small thin blade cuts better.
>but I want a seax
all production ones are mostly shit. for a custom knife why limit yourself to a 1500 year old design?
just get a good folding pocket knife OP
>get a puuko
I agree
>from a standard manufacturer
Major finnish knifemakers don't make them as good as they were 70 years ago.
>6-10" long
The only mass-produced puukko that was more than 6" long is the wartime Marttiini Ilves and it's reproduction for company's 85 anniversary.
Get a good camping knife. My friend used Recon Tanto for this task. Some people like leukus.
>folding knife
>camping
Hahaha, western pig does not know about the long finka’s. Foolish western pig.
Soviet finkas, such as Sapper knife were barely longer than 6".
Are you going for the knife making sense or being interesting?
Nyet, the long finka’s elude you and laugh at you foolish westerner. It is no longer CCCP.
Also depends on what you intend to spend ...
Don't really see a point in choosing the design over more recent stuff,
but an authentically made 1500 year old design has its charm.
Этo ктo тyт глyпый зaпaдник, гoвнo блядь?
You do not know. Finka’s is made for us, by us.
Check out strömengand jarvenpaa for Sami knives. Jarvenpaa and ahti make good stuff still. Marttinni isn't bad either but mostly stainless.
>scramseax
>puukko
>leuku
combine them all. Get terava skrama. If you want to snowflake add your own wooden handle and get rid of the rubber shit.
Why get a knife when you could get a small bearded axe?
A folding knife for the detail work and a small axe for the actual heavy duty chopping and work.
While you are at it get a viking repro axe to keep the nordic theme.
Most hatchets have shit quality now plus a knife can do more precise shit than an axe because most people don't just wood work
seax
If you are a reenactor, sure. Otherwise, just get a puukko. There's a reason this design has been made for over 120 years. It's just what you want from a general-purpose knife, and early medieval knives would offer you the same functionality.
The "gimmick" of langsax and skramasax knives is that they can be used as backup weapons, because you don't always carry a sword/axe, but then you need a second, smaller knife, because a 20+ centimeter blade isn't always convenient to use.
Дa вce я знaю.
>Sami knives
Thanks, I'm not into leukus.
>. Marttinni isn't bad either but mostly stainless.
I know several people that gave Marttiini a heavy portion of criticism.
I use Ilves 138 myself, but now I want me something more historical.
Like this - 12-15 cm blade, clip point, carbon steel, birch handle with a "wooden knot"
>batoning is a meme
Oh geez I guess I accidentally memed the whole weekend innawoods oh well, better unburn all that firewood.
You can't out a price on a blade that literally repels evil
>Should i get a screamsaex or a regular knife for innawoods camping?
It depends, do you have silly hat and what type is it, I mean if you have a comedy Edwardian beard and a hat with fold down ear flaps, or little larp Viking hat and run around in untanned animal skins you've already answered your question
>Recon Tanto for this task
shit for skinning larp darpy derp derb vidya urbanite
I mean why bring an actual cheap hatchet and cheap quality mora or optinel when you can come up with so many worse and more useless options
Its a meme that became a reality driven by a thousand faggots posting social anxiety prepper crap on yourcube in their back gardens
Because getting a good axe is really troublesome.
Then getting good with an axe is also really troublesome.
I tend to use my Spear-head instead.
>Forged section assembly spear.
>Head is ideal for both stabbing and chopping since it's extra thick due to being made for boar hunting.
>Bonus point for being both weaboo as fuck and practical.
The full metal shaft is heavy tho but i'll carry it anyways since i need to be able to ward of dem beasties without shooting thanks to noFunz laws.
