10mm Help?

I’m in the market for a 10mm for bear defense. Thoughts on the EAA Witness P Match Plus? Any other 10mms to look at?
>inb4 get a Glock.
It’s an option, but I’d prefer a safety

Nobody on this board will tell you to get a Glock besides Glockfags who's budged for guns is $500 and their Glock will be used only once, to shoot themselves in the head

Witness Match is nice
There are some 10mm 1911's if you prefer single stack

Thoughts on the Ruger 10mm? Worth the price tag or just jump for the Delta Elite?

get a glock

Get. A. Glock 20.

Colts don't have full chamber support iirc, the rugers do. If youre going to be using full power loads for defense get a Ruger.

Lol gay
>not the cooler looking 40 at least

Go big or go home. Glock 40 longboi burrito supreme has the sight radius you want for ringing bullseyes. Who the fuck uses safeties? You do not touch the fucking trigger unless youre going to SHOOT

And get a pistol rest. You'll appreciate the long barrel when you git gud and realize you can reach out 100+ yards accurately with a handgun.

Get a glock. The safety system works very well unless you're a retard who can't keep his finger off the trigger (spic or nigger).

The glock is the lightest, cheapest, and highest magazine capacity option available. It's the obvious choice for a woods gun. I don't even like glocks, but that was my choice because it's the most practical option for that role.

but you'll need to swap out the barrel if you don't want glock smiley on every single piece of brass

Ive shot about a 1000 rounds through my glock 19 and about 200 reloaded 9mm. ive never seen it. Is this only higher caliber glocks?

Nah, for 10mm, the Glock 40 is still one of a small handful of good (meaning long-slide) options.

The Witness Hunter looks like a good option in my book, but after all the problems with the early 10mm Witnesses, a lot of people trust Tanfoglio even less than Glock.

And then there's several longslide 10mm 1911s, but a lot of folks can't get over muh capacity.

That pretty much leaves the Glock 40.

And yeah, I'm sure I'm forgetting an option or two, but my point stands: it's not like 9mm where there's a non-glock option to suit pretty much any set of requirements, so you would only pick Glock if you get the blue-tag pricing, or are actually a Glock-sucking fanboy.

Who gives a shit about that?

Thanks. So about how much higher velocity from the 40 compared to the 20?

get a rifle, dumbass.

Some states require minimum 5.5" barrel to hunt, for velocity, sight radius, natural point and feel of long handguns all helps in shooting better.

Fuck wrong picture

It really depends, you can get smileys due to too little chamber support, way too much pressure, or early unlocking (cartridge moves back while there's still pressure in it. .40 and 10mm barrels made at different times have different amounts of chamber support, but generally 9mm hasn't had any issues -- but you might still get smiles from early unlocking if you were to fire nuclear 9mm with a lightened recoil spring.
While I don't have one, it's my understanding that all recent production .40 and 10mm Glocks do have adequate chamber support, such that you won't get smilies under normal conditions.

Note that Glock barrels in all calibers always tend to bulge brass, this is not the same as a smiley. The smiley is the brass partially shearing where it's unsupported, and ruins the case (pic related), whereas the bulge is just normal brass expansion to fit the rather loose Glock chambers, and can be resized and reloaded.

Why is it called a smiley

KeEp Ur BoOgEr HoOk OfF tHe BaNg SwItCh!

Gee, I dunno.

the bulging brass creates a "smile line"

Gee wat a faggot you are

So if it’s a Glock, go for the G40. Thanks.
The smiley doesn’t really bother me. I don’t plan on reloading

Bump

So how big of a deal is the brass bulge/smile? Is it in danger of blowing out any when firing?

The extreme bulges pictured are from reloaded that push limits. People push boundaries for every cartridge. Problem is you cannot reload boogered up brass. That's why revolver guys like taking big 41 magnum, 454, 460 ruger etc, and reload them to be tame and anemic. Loading 44 magnum down to 44 special pressures is also common.

>not getting a glock

Lmao that image. I really don't understand how people keep forgetting that there aren't any commercial 10mm loads that even match commercial 357mag in energy let alone exceed it. Granted, they are fairly close.

That’s true, but I’m not a big fan of revolvers and much prefer the capacity of a semi auto. I haven’t checked numbers, but Buffalo Bore is supposed to be loaded pretty hot, right?

Another bump

Buffalo Bore 220g hard cast . Resonable price and available locally.

Buffalo Bore 10mm 180gr JHP:
>1,311 fps - Glock model 20 4.6-inch barrel
Buffalo Bore .357 180gr JHP:
>1,351 fps -- S&W model 65-5, 3-inch
(Keep in mind a revolver has roughly 1.6" of cylinder, so these guns have very comparable barrel+chamber length, and very similar overall length at 8.07" and 8.31" respectively.)

Those extra 40 fps could make all the difference, you know.

I own both and you are wrong, but go ahead and post your idiot graphs.

What would the numbers be from 5.5" semi auto vs a 6" SW 868

Attached: GSmith_1380.jpg (300x216, 38K)

Glock 40s ARE the best option, barring that 10mm 1911s can be exceptionally accurate

40fps is not too much of a jump, but it does make a difference. I’d still feel a bit more confident with a few more rounds than a .357

I like my p-witness

For the .357:
>1,501 fps -- Ruger GP 100, 6-inch
For 10mm, though, Buffalo Bore only lists the 4.6" Glock and two 5" 1911s (at 1337 and 1351 fps), so extrapolating, 5.5 should be around 1377 fps.
Keep in mind, though, that different models with the same barrel length, and in some cases different individual guns, can see velocity variations as much as 100fps or so, depending on specifics of the chamber and rifling; so we don't know how much of the difference is due to the 0.4" barrel length difference and how much to the difference between guns, and the extrapolation is only very loosely valid. This is just a gut feel, but I think it will be more like 1380-1390.

New Deltas do.
G20/40.
Wew lad that's ugly.
