Do you people really carry this much shit on you at all times? You don't need a survival blanket or a 55gal barrel liner for your beer trip to the 7-11 two blocks down the street. This is basically bug-out shit.

Yes, but I don't carry any dedicated "survival gear" because it doesn't have any realistic utility for edc. I'll use my phone and call for help if shit goes sideways. I'm not going to break out a firesteel and space blanket to make camp if my car breaks down; I'm not going to carry a signaling mirror because I won't get lost during my daily routine; etc.

The only things a guy really needs is a phone, his wallet, keys and a gun; everything else you can make do as you go along. The only times you're truly shit outta luck is when you leave one of those behind. Anything else just helps to avoid an inconvenience. I only carry things I actually use and things that I think might prevent serious injury.

Guys on YouTube who carry "mini survival gear" or "Altoids tin edc packs" are a little too goofy tbqh. It's much better to be honest with yourself with what you actually need/ use than to carry around a bunch of shit to be "prepared."

With the amount of stuff I carry I know I sound like a hypocrite, but my point is that it's only goofy to carry stuff if you don't use it and I use my gear all the time. It's true that I could get along fine without most of it, but it comes in handy. The only people who really deserve criticism imo are those who carry useless shit and those who don't carry the bare minimum (gun, keys, phone, wallet).

I just keep a couple folded paper towels back there, because I have back issues. Otherwise I would probably carry a whetstone. I can't count how many times I noticed my knife was dull, looked around for a whetstone, and then immediately forgot.

Dunno man I've got a pocket situation and I don't even carry that much shit. Cigarettes, lighter, keys, chapstick, and sometimes change in my left front. Wallet in my right front. I either transition from my phone in my right front pocket in my wallet or my right back pocket. If I'm pocket carrying it fucks the whole thing off. I don't like having a wallet or anything bulky in my rear pockets. I normally carry a P-01 in a T.Rex arms sidecar appendix with a spare magazine.
