I have been highly considering joining the US Marine Corps after completing officers training
To my chagrin I know very little beyond what my parents and recruiter have told me.
I'm 6'1 140 pounds and I'm naturally leadership oriented

You attend Marine OCS in Quantico or go to the Naval Academy (rare). You don't complete "officers training" then decide to join the Marines, dumb frogposter.

Terrible decision either way.

>I'm naturally leadership oriented
no, you're not

If you make it, you'll be a naive scrub potentially in command of some of the most retarded people legally allowed to carry a weapon.

>I'm naturally leadership oriented
Then how about you show some initiative other than making a thread on a Incan Atl-Atl Training forum and post in the military enlistment general like a good muhreen.

oh fuck, by any chance whats the rate of friendly fire

okay thanks for telling me about that ill check it out

If you're naturally leadership oriented why haven't you led yourself to eat more you skinny fucking pussy

>naturally leadership oriented
>posting on Foreveralone The Website before dawn

>naturally leadership oriented
>can't make decisions for himself, has to ask for people's opinions on a mongolian tapestry weaving forum

*obligatory israel joke goes here*

>git guud at pullups, they're the main thing you need to do to get promoted
Officers have a few more criteria, but pullups are the main thing.
>use your NCOs
They've been in longer than you, respect them, they know the men better than you ever can. That being said, don't let them push you around either. My advice for how to do this is to pretty much just observe for the first week or so you're there. Don't jump in and lead the way, just ask questions once in a while. The ones that answer your questions straight up are the ones you can trust, the ones that crumple like meek little bitches are boot lickers or just boots. After your first week take the NCOs out to a late lunch on Friday, that way you can release them early without looking like a lazy bitch to your peers. While your there introduce yourself and invite them to do the same.
Somewhere along the line you'll probably start making friends with other officers in the battalion, this is fine, but be warned, these guys will sell you out in a heartbeat if it means being in good standing with the BC. There's a lot of misguided ambition in the O-ranks. Your NCOs on the other hand have no choice but to work with you. You may not like them, and they might not like you, but what they say about you behind your back (and they will talk behind your back) has a direct effect on how your missions go, so if you have to chose between your peers and your troops, chose troops.
Anyway, if you read this far, good luck to you.
