PSA is good because they produce functional and reliable guns for cheap. They dont make pretty guns and QC is obviously not as prevalent as in more expensive manufacturers.

I'm aware of the risks, but as long as you're not like the average boomer when it comes to dealing in online transactions, the risk is minimal. I'm not exactly rich either, but you're missing out on decent deals, or certain models that are no longer made, if you're limiting yourself to local only for used guns.

no, it was "sportsman's depot" which seems to have since gone out of business. i did buy one gun from king's without a hassle although it was in slightly shittier condition than i anticipated. it wasn't at their fault though the extra wear was concealed by the stock.

There are a decent amount of no reserves. If you want something in particular and keep an eye you'll eventually get lucky and see a great deal about to end at a weird time of day and not have to get into a bidding war.

I don't know how it is in your state, but the worst part of the process for me is just waiting for the money order to be delivered to the seller. Can't be fucked with buying from gun stores though, like you said, the mark-up is too damned much to not buy online. I'm hoping that gun stores will start trying to match near online prices in order to remain competitive, because while the guys at the gun store I go to are cool dudes, I only use them as a transfer center, and maybe to pick up ammo for the gun I'm getting while I'm there.

I've _generally_ had good luck with Gunbroker. So far I've had three problem. First was a milsurp with a bad bore and a broken extractor. Seller offered return for refund but I kept the gun because it was still worth it. Second problem was a Marlin 336 that was terrible condition compared to the description/photos. Seller gave me a partial refund and I still sold the gun for almost 150% what I paid. Last problem was a seller who had a bunch of identical guns and shipped me the wrong one. He offered an exchange but there wasn't any practical difference so I kept it. These were all big FFLs, not private parties.

Stuff is just so cheap on Gunbroker though. Last week bought a normal Mini-14 for $250 and a factory folding Mini for $500.

Typical Mini-14s can be found for around $400-500. The $250 was a pretty crazy deal, as was the folder since those usually go for $1200.

the deals usually have a low "buy it now" price and are listed earlier in the day or in the evenings since those are the times at which boomers are most active.

It passed the NICS check, but on the state check came back stolen. So he paid the cash value of the gun he traded for and another grand on a lawyer after the police said they were handing off the case to the ATF.
