quick change barrel on a service gun is a meme.
>implying your average enlisted is smart enough to change barrels in the field
Hole in one
>quick change barrel
>on a service rifle
Fucking wot? RIP accuracy.
The whole point of the IAR is accurate fire over continuous suppressive fire. No need for a quick change barrel
I'm glad someone on the internet besides me understands this.
Everyone point and laugh at the retard
>memechange barrel
Get a load of this civiecuck orangutan
But it already worked.
>The whole point of the IAR is accurate fire over continuous suppressive fire.
>oh really? Then why don't you just go back to M16A4s?
>implying your average enlisted is smart enough to change barrels in the field
What about the M240B and the M249
>implying your average enlisted is smart enough to change barrels in the field
Is this what pogue zeros actually believe?
>spelling pog as pogue
I wrote it phonetically with you in mind, frend
Found the pretentious commo guy that everybody hates
who the fuck actually carries around a spare barrel for a service rifle? What's the point?
You're not going to shoot it out, even if you're retarded enough to magdump 100% of the ammo you carry. It's basically an armorer's convenience if anything.
Exactly. Anyone who has ever rucked significant distances knows you don't want the extra weight of a spare barrel.
And flip diddily daddy fuck armorers.
>your weapons not cleeeeeeeeeaaaaaan
Fuck you it's spotless you just want a bribe
>argueing against more modularity
There's really no point of having a super modular rifle if your command team will never authorize modifications.
It's like when the Army allowed rolled sleeves and a ton of commands didn't allow it.
Some units do and I'm in one of them, so play me despacito.
My unit allowed it. That summer everyone was rolling sleeves but the next summer nobody but me and a few others did, it felt like they forgot.
I had to go down to a nearby base for some stuff and as I walked around with my rolled sleeves, I was constantly harassed by NCOs and SNCOs yelling at me about my sleeves before I could explain myself.
>1. I'm clearly wearing a different unit patch
>2. I'm not in your shitty division
>3. I'm not even stationed on this base
>4. I don't report to you or yours
>5. Good luck finding me ever again you crusty old fuck
>6. It's 2018 grandpa we eat ass now
. It's 2018 grandpa we eat ass now
wait what
Do you not?
>having modularity on a SERVICE RIFLE
Generally the most modularity you get is choosing how far forward your vfg gets to be. You're sadly mistaken if you think the armory is gonna hand out different length barrels for different environments/situations. As far as spare barrels: fuck that nonsense, leave it to the actual weapons platoons.
It's a Navy thing
no fucking way
Not arguing that point, just giving the reason M27s don’t have quick change barrels
The OLD aug's did. But australia being run by retards, refused to buy anywhere NEAR enough spare barrels so everyone ended up hating their F88 beca7se the least shit ines still had had a berjillikn rounds shat through them. Couldn't hit shit.
The supposedly better replacement austeyr DOESN'T have a qc barrel. Because apparently politicians and beaureaucrats liked our PBI being unable to hit the broadside of a barn. Standing inside it.
Austeyr barrels wear out really fast. So carrying extras really should be a fucking thing. But that would mean the fucking beancounters would have to authorise spending kore money. So NEVER EVER.
Austeyr barrel weighs fuckall. Including folding foregrip.
>still extra weight
>Austeyr barrels wear out really fast. So carrying extras really should be a fucking thing.
How fast are they wearing out? Because if you want soldiers to carry spare barrels on patrol then that would imply that they would burn out over the span of a few days, which would just be absurd.
> quick change barrel
You know what would be really cool? If someone could cone up with a rifle that let you quick change the entire upper receiver. That way you could swap out calibers and optics without fucking with your POI.
Just kidding, Von Trapp-bros. I still love your 70's space gun.
found a guy with a stick up his ass
If you ain't cav you aint shit
carrying around a separate upper is a fuckload of extra weight and it means strapping whatever other bullshit you had on your old upper to the new one. not having a quick change barrel on what is meant to be an automatic rifle is kind of a joke, but the whole IAR program is a joke so the muhreens could buy 16in HK416s.
>The fucking AUG has a quickchange barrel
Yeah no shit it was designed in a time where the mission of infantry in europe was to hold off hordes of warsaw pact soldiers long enough for uncle sam to drop a few nukes on them. And it was more than likely the Austrians would be melting barrels while that happened.
because the iar was a ploy to get a new service rifle from the beginning. they started replacing 249s amd went from there to replacing their m4s and m16s. going forward every marine in the rifle squad is supposed to get an m27 now.
and youre a faggot
holy shit thank you. nobody ever fucking understands this. I've been in so many arguments with people who think the M27 is supposed to be used like a 249.
>hurr you cant provide sustained fire with 30 round mags
>get ambushed
>have zero means to suppress enemies in area with volume of fire
>die
I’m sure it must be so convenient to always know where the enemies are hiding to be able to engage them with precision fire.
Yes thats what cav means
>be assaulting objective site
>AR firing at a sustained rate of fire
>having to change mags every 10 seconds
>can’t effectively suppress entire objective site
>assaulting element dies
But hey, at least you got a free float barrel that looks cool.
>missing the point this hard
No you nigglet. You’re the motherfucker who’s missing the goddamn point. “Precision suppressive fire” only works when you actually know where the bad guys are and they aren’t maneuvering at all. Even if you know the general idea of where they are, you still have to target and suppress general areas to keep bad guys heads down. Meaning that you won’t always be engaging individual point targets, you’ll be engaging area targets that need to be continually suppressed to facilitate the movement of an attacking element to engage and assault the objective site. Get the fuck out with your precision fire shit. More dakka is always required.

ITT: people who forget that the M249 is still in the TOE for marine rifle companies and not just for the weapons platoon. If that kind of suppression is needed, the company and battalion has the ability to dole them out on an as needed basis.
Ssh, they want to be angry. Let them have this.
no hes right to put an end to this autism. if more dakka is needed, there will always be more dakka. its not like by adopting the m27 suppressive fire stops existing.
That doesnt even make sense dipshit
Armatac 150 round drums solve this issue. The other way to solve the issue is to hit the enemy with your bullets. You know. Shoot them.
