Would I be insane if I bought a spare barrel for my finnish mosin and cut it to 16 inches.
Does this count as bubba'ing my rifle if I leave the original barrel alone and swap it for a new one? I just want a shorter rifle but I dont want to kill the value
I'm probably retarded
Just buy a M38 or 44
Not what I'm asking.
Also why buy a whole other gun if I can grab a barrel for cheap and just do this?
Because then you have 2 guns. Spend a bit more money, save a lot of effort.
Swapping Mosin barrels isn't like a 10/22...
I have the proper tools and could rent headspace gauges.
Fair enough, however buying guns is a massive headache in my state so the extra effort almost feels worth it.
Just buy a already bubba'ed rifle then. It'll be easier than swapping barrels.
Ok, maybe once, but back and forth? I don't see that as realistic.
I'd probably swap it out every other year or so.
I think you vastly underestimate the effort needed
this is a bad thread and OP should feel bad for it.
Like what said, just get one of the carbine models, you twat. Fucking with your Mosin is more effort in the long run (what said) and if you get another Mosin, that's another gun that will only appreciate in value.
Don't be retarded.
Simple answer to your question, yes, it would be insane.
I don't think it would along as you keep the barrel
I don’t think you realize how much work that would be, and guessing based on what you have written so far, my guess is in your infinite stupidity you would somehow fuck the gun up beyond recognition.
People don’t buy bubbad Mosins and rebarrel them for a reason numbnuts
You would have to cut the forend to match which would be a permanent modification. Besides which wrenching a Mosin barrel on/off is an enormous pain, they aren't exactly "quick-change".
As others have indicated, there are plenty of pre-bubba'd mosins. If you find a 43' Izzy with a worn out barrel that bubba has already fucked with a bit, nobody is really going to miss it and there's no real value to destroy.
OP, ignore these anons. Fucking do it. Swap that barrel, and when you do it, make a thread and post pics.
>Asking for advice on how to bubba a Mosin.
>In 2018
Why not just ask us about how to use a dial-up modem or a 78RPM record player while you're at it?
A this point just get a receiver and bolt and go from their, instead of half-ass bubbaing, do a rescue.
For example I got a beyond relic status barreled enfield receiver I am eventually going to turn into a .410 carbine.
