They are very sexy, but scrounging up the funds without blasting it on something else I want to buy is trying. I've shot a DT11, Zoli Z-Sport, and fondled a Blaser F3. Anything below that price point feels a lot less satisfying, and I have a hard time convincing myself that spending that much for a sport I don't shoot an awful lot is hard.

It depends on what you want it for. Pure utilitarian purposes the pump is best. I’m buying a O/U for sporting and as an heirloom piece to pass onto my descendants

Only one I can find for me (out of the box, since I can't mod to under 18.5in barrels on shotguns) is a shitty-looking tacticool stoeger.
Put a pistol-grip on pretty much any semi-auto shotguns out there and use a drum mag? Yah, it's possible.

The divisions are where I noticed significant differences in quality. Once you get into the $10k+ territory, the guns are so good it ends up being personal preference for weight, balance, looks, status. There are outliers like the Turkish Yildiz Pro Sporter, which is a Perazzi clone with a true Boss lock for (relatively) little money. I haven't gotten my hands on one, but people seem to say it's pretty good.

Lots of semi shotguns have their recoil spring in the stock, which would make them unsuitable for modification to pistol grip only.

Quality O/U’s are expensive. You might be able to find a nice used ruger red label for like 800. I’m saving up for a silver pigeon
