Jezail Curved Stock

Why didn't the curved stock of the Afghan Jezail catch on and spread? Is there something wrong with it? Forgotten Weapons said that he can aim the Jezail just fine so I do not know what the problem with the stock is

Commies believe a lot of silly things.

Really only useful for camel jockies. Other camel jockies too dumb to copy

Whats the flaw with the curved stock?

After Abraham the middle east is where empires go to die why would an isolated design by rock farmers catch on in the industrialized west

No grip no cheekshit no shit nothing its fucking muslim commie shit fuck god damnit fuck off cunt fuck anger

Please take your meds

Nice catchphrase newfaggot, do you have a matching shirt from wal mart? Stop posting forever.

Literally this, it’s a design tailored to carrying lots and firing little. The swept profile is designed to comfortably hook under the wielder’s arm while riding (a camel). Black powder has a more gradual burn rate than smokeless which translates into a more manageable recoil impulse for a stock shape optimized for purposes other than recoil management. Their increased weight and being fired from a rest further helped to mitigate what one would assume to be a wildly recoiling and difficult to aim arm

Didn't realize how much I wanted one of these until now. Too bad they're all 1k+

Because like you its massively retarded.

>$1000
Try approaching $10k. Last one I saw on gunbroker went for $8000.

Protip: make your own! Most flintlock jezails use salvaged Brown Bess and Charleville actions of which originals and reproductions are readily available.

Doesn't black powder burn faster though?

Very situational but I love it.

black powder is much slower than smokeless

Black powder burns more slowly and much dirtier than smokeless, this relationship can be demonstrated with modern reproduction black powder firearms. Try shooting smokeless out of a replica dragoon and you’ll have a cool new hook hand, shoot BP out of a modern .45 LC Peacemaker and you’ll have a fun rangeday.

it will eventually crack

Not true.
Over 300 different smokeless powders and ~20 different black powders available to home loaders.
Such a general statement is retarded as there are faster and slower powders.
The only thing that can truely be generalised is that BP takes more powder to reach the same velocities/pressures.

>not all X are like that so general trends are invalid!
Smokeless powders, as a general characteristic, achieve their max pressure quicker than blackpowder and substitutes. If this were to be represented on a line graph with pressure on the y axis and time on the x, the resultant curve would be steeper than that of a bp loaf which achieves the same overall pressure. This is why you cannot use a smaller charge of smokeless to simulate a larger BP load: the designs and materials of vintage and repro bp guns alike aren’t optimized to contain the balance of the charge’s pressure instantaneously

Load* not loaf
>tfw no underhammer jezail

I don't want to want this.

Got any more info? or is it time for me to start doing some research

Not really, just look around at pictures of jezails online and form a vision of what your ideal jezail would be. List parts, make sketches, and then make it your self or commission it to be made

The tackwork in the stock on this piece is to me reminiscent of the tack art on Native American blanket guns and other tribal firearms

I suppose if you're just making the wooden part anyone can do it, huh. Well thanks for putting the idea in my head, user. My dad is setting up a woodworking workshop in his garage soon and I think I'll be spending some time in there.

It's common practice to use smaller loads of smokeless to simulate BP loads. The ammo companies have been doing this for over 100 years.
There are different smokeless powders with different pressure curves. Some slower some faster than BP, even some that exactly match. Maybe actually do some real research before spouting retarded info.

An easy starter project for developing the skill sets prerequisite for ultimately making your own jezail from scratch would be to emulate native arts like tacking and rawhide wrapping a cheap kit muzzleloader or beater levergun. Have fun!
Like I said, as a general characteristic. There is no need to be upset, friend.

Forgot to quote you in my other prairienigger post. Have this

As a general charcteristic it's still wrong.
BP most closely matches the fast pistol and shotgun powders menaing most smokeless powders are actually slower burning.

Appreciate it m8. Sounds like fun, I'm always looking for ways to expand my gun hobby.

For most intents and purposes, it is correct. Besides specialty products formulated specifically to mimic the performance of bp, the vast majority of smokeless propellants are NOT recommended for use in bp-designed firearms.
The sky (and your creativity) is the limit! I’m currently working on putting a brass patchbox into the stock of my Winchester 94 to hold a brush, jag, and patches and I’m working on either inlet the current forend to accommodate a cleaning rod, or making a new one from scratch if not

How exactly do you determine if a Jezail is legit anyway? From what I understand, they were made to no specific pattern, caliber, length, or style. Even the distinct "curved horn" stock isn't present on all of them. I'd be interested in picking up one some day purely for collection purposes, but I'd obviously want an original and not a piece of tourist junk.

>As a general charcteristic it's still wrong.
No it isn't you contrarian nigger, BP as a whole is considered to have a lower pressure curve and burn rate than smokeless. There is a reason nearly every replica BP gun, rifle or pistol, has
>BLACK POWDER ONLY
in all caps somewhere on it. You're exception-to-the-rule substitutes do not refute this. Take your ritalin and sit down.
