Anyone care to recommend me a knife with a thin blade? My budget is $60 and yeah I know I'm a poorfag.

A gun.
unless you're filipino, no
A knife is an extremely bad choice for defence. You're literally better off with a big stick unless you're planning on slitting throats from behind..
A knife is awful for defense
>awful effective reach assuming you want to distant yourself from the threat
>most people can't use it well
>actually likely to have it wrestled out of your hand and maybe even put back in you forcibly
Not defensively, offensively its a great choice.
What are you going to do? Get in a knife fight? Come on retard. Go get some pepper spray
Sadly I'm a britbong cant get a gun.
Yes you can. You are just looking for an excuse not to put in the time. I'm german and have 5 guns (including AR).
Knife is awesome for defence if you have the mindset of "Yeah I'm gonna die, but I'm going to take you fucking with me"
>britbong
>wants a noif for self defense
>thinks he still has the freedom of self defense with lethal force let alone non-lethal.
I feel sad for you bonger.
OI! Yet got a liocence fur dat kniooooofe
>as you can see by the evidence brought forth, the defendant, premeditated the crime by carrying this large razor sharp knife that he would routinely sharpen. For the soul purpose of being able to use it on someone, who's to say that he didn't carry it so that he CAN use it. My condolences to the family of jamal who lost their child who was soon to be Dr., who also recently had their 27th birthday.
>fuck white people
>fuck Trump
>9/11
>traps aren't gay
>glocks should be considered IEDs
Yea no don't use a knife
Cold steel

Posting threads like this should result in an immediate ban for trolling or poor post quality. Just don't do it. Go watch videos of people getting stabbed if you really need a reminder of why.
Let's go through the most common non-gun weapons and why they suck for sd and then we will talk about alternatives and improvised weapons:
>knife
Your attacker will ALWAYS have the upper hand via element of surprise and preparation. A knife is only effective if you've had several years of training and you just so happen to be faster and have a longer reach than everybody else or you already know an attack is coming.
>pepper spray
It doesnt effect all people the same way. Some police have stopped carrying it because criminals will open their mouth and spit it back into the officers eyes. Also if they have a club or weapon you run the risk of causing a blind rampage and getting a bystander hurt or killed. Also it isnt immediately effective. It may take several seconds for an attacker to feel the full effects of the spray and this is a situation where seconds matter a great deal.
>baton
Basically all the same shit as the knife with the exception that it may give you greater reach while being absolutely useless for any other purpose.
>taser/ stun gun
this is an all-around shit weapon. They dont hit the ground and convulse like they show in movies. you have less reach than the knife or baton. you have to hold the taser to the persons body for about 5 total seconds (which is damn near impossible to do with somebody thrashing against you) in order to cause muscle paralysis and they will regain motor control almost immediately after you stop tasing them.
>Now let's look at alternatives
post 1/2
Or if you want something for home defense but you really can't get a gun, maybe an alternative would be intimidation, like get a gun that shoots blanks only, laws are probably less tight for those.
Post 2/2
The only non-gun weapon i would ever recommend for anybody who absolutely can't own a gun:
>Flashlight
Most attacks occur in low light areas. A bright flashlight can be disorienting. There is a study (which i cant find right now) that suggests that a flashlight may actually be the most effective non-gun weapon available. Other benefits being that some flashlights may have a bezel crown that can be used as an impact weapon/ dna collector. A long heavy flashlight can be used as a bludgeon and a glass breaker on it could make it quite lethal. Alternatively you could get a telescopic baton with a flashlight end cap and a glass breaker tip. This would allow you to disorient an attacker with the light and go immediately into a hard strike at a safe distance and should give you an opportunity to at least run away. The obvious drawback being that you have to make sure to keep good batteries in it.
You should also have a knife. Not specifically for a weapon but because you're a man and a knife is a tool that can perform many jobs and a mans lot in life is to be prepared and handy.
Come on user, you forgot about strobe settings
Get a decent crowbar.
>actually likely to have it wrestled out of your hand and maybe even put back in you forcibly
The other two are valid points, this one is bullshit. "Why carry ____ because it'll be used against you" seems to get slapped onto literally any weapon as a complaint and there's never any evidence of it. Trying to disarm anyone of anything who's seriously trying to attack you is extremely difficult.
Do you know how to fight with a knife? If the answer is anything other than "Yes, very well," then don't carry a knife for self-defense.
>can't carry a gun for self defense because that's illegal
>can't carry a knife for self defense because that's actually illegal too
>can't carry a bludgeon(ex maglite) for self defense because that's illegal
>can't even actually carry pepper spray in most areas because that's illegal
user, you live in bongistan, carrying or owning any sort of ""weapon"" for the purposes of ""illegal assault""(self defense) is illegal. Questions if you're going to risk a fairly serious charge for a nearly useless defensive tool or a serious charge for a useful defensive tool. Otherwise just stick to mace and hope the local bobbies have mercy on your soul whenever they decide the right to not be randomly searched on every street corner is a privilege too.
Genuinely, a very bright, sturdy flashlight, and lots of cardio is far better for defense
Motherfuckin kukri.
You carry that shit around in a shoulder holster, and you look like a mean man on a safari
They usually don't turn out OK, this is some meme that started getting pushed a while ago.
This is pasta
Ok guys, I for one am from a place where carrying knives and using them in self dedence is generally fine, while batons and guns are forbidden. I also carry pepper spray. What is actually the problem with using a knive?
>muh die in the hospital
Most potential assailants do not have knives, and if they do I am probably fucked either way.
They're just retards parroting memes.
You'll probably cut your hand if you hammer grip a paring knife and stab someone but if you buy a knife with a decent grip and choil you'll be fine. Knives have been used as weapons since the dawn of man and there isn't some magic telegrab knife trick niggers know
a
What do you have training in?
>Most potential assailants do not have knives
So that ether means they are still better armed then you or that you are planing on using illegal levels of force on unarmed dudes.
Some maths and three years foreign language. I thought my self kissing as well using YouTube and online documentation.
Guns incapacitate almost instantly and from a distance.
Knives are completely opposite. They require closing to grappling range and even lethal strikes take a long time to incapacitate.
This is where the potential for the knife being taken from you comes. Physical combat is a huge random chance assuming both sides are equally untrained.
watched enough videos to know that stopping a knife attack is virtually impossible if you don't have a 10-15ft+ distance advantage, you have zero chance if some random comes up behind you at Raj's quik-stop and starts necking you from behind in the lungs
>illegal levels of force on unarmed dudes
That's not how the law works here.
I carry this shit everyday but I wouldn’t use it in self defense. It’s good for cutting fruits and veggies at work tho.
>thin
Filleting knife.
Just kidding. If you want a stabby-stabby blade that doesn't cut, like a stiletto, make yourself a shank out of a screwdriver, file or hand scraper.
If you want a knife that should cut and stab, get something simple - a kitchen blade, a hunting knife (like A&R Shtrafbat, Mora 612, Peltonen M95). If you're not sure about your skill, get a knife with handguard, but be aware that knife with handguard makes the concealed carry difficult.
Daggers are harder to get in my country, so I don't recommend them
It should have a blade between 10 and 15 cm, to be both effective and concealable, be of conventional construction (no special snowflake blades, no kerambites), it's better to be a fixed blade or it should have a tough locking mechanism and good steel.
>likely to have it wrestled out of your hand
Most of the people are not brave enough.
I wouldn't use german gravity blade for fight as well. It's too valuable and probably fragile
>a knife with a decent grip
Or you can learn how to hold it properly
Still works like a charm but it’s way too heavy and blade is kinda short.
Indeed. I would like to have one on my bookshelf.
I myself carry a browning tactical hysteria.
Verry cool, small (most of the time not found by any Security guys) and cheap knife.
If u can afford something more expensive, i would recommend you a DESERT FOX tactical
>a browning tactical hysteria
>65mm blade
Doesn't seem like a good fighting knife. It's alright for EDC, but for fighting you should have longer blade that makes the reach easier.
Sadly most of the people who have them are not willing to sell them. You have to be really lucky. I am now in the process of looking for P08 in good condition and not overpriced as fuck. The Falschirmjäger-messer and P08 are two pieces of german art. Beatifull design with flawless technical solution.
Karambit
Ok so you want to kill people and get into knife fights.
Cheap 6"/15cm boning knife with a good handle, will probably cost $20-30, sharp as hell, pointy and has a good non slip grip. After you've murdered someone, wipe the prints and chuck it down a drain.
If you lose the knife fight, well its not like you're going to need to worry much.
I think that it would rather bend or snap.
They're generally 2.5-3mm thick across the spine, not like a fillet knife which is about 2mm or thinner.
Tip is flexible to some degree but not to the point it wont go through thick clothing with any trouble and you can rip apart an entire side of beef. People have a misconception that its going to be about shit talking, making fancy moves, parrying and it'll go on for a long time- nah it'll be over in under a minute with someone leaking out after you slip through their guard and into somewhere nasty.
>inside arms between shoulder/elbow
>groin
>inside thigh
>anywhere in the chest
>throat
Its all over rover
We;re relatively fragile creatures, any major artery is severed most people go into shock rapidly even if they're popping on adrenaline.
No, just no OP. A knife is not a good self defense mechanism. If you ever have to use it then you will be in a heap of legal trouble. It literally looks better to use a pistol in self defense than a knife. Spend that money on a stub gun or some other non lethal self defense mechanism.
I understand that sport fighting and real fights are different, but I would rather have something slightly more solid, like one of the many NR-40 style knives
Oh yeah, where you at then?
I am pretty sure there is nowhere where they consider it fine to shank a unarmed person because of a minor physical altercation.
>Assuming you want to distance yourself from the threat
Well your gay assumption was dumb. Cmon user try harder.
Germany.
>Self defence: a person is required to use the least harmful means of defending against an unlawful attack. However, the defendant is not required to accept insecurity in the matter; if he can not be certain that a means would end the attack, he is not required to use it
In practice, this means you're perfectly justified in kniving a guy that attacks you - especially so if you had used a lesser means (pepper spray) before or if you had threatened its use. (Yes, german law encourages you to threaten with knive use or gunfire before you actually do it.) You are also not required to consider the damage that the other guy would incur, or flee for that matter. There is no weighing of legal goods in the matter except in the case of "gross imbalance" - usually exampled with shooting a child stealing an apple.
So basically, if I use pepper spray before using a knive and threaten using it before I do, I should be very much in the clear. German law also allows knives of up to 12 cm blade length to be carried freely - I was looking at a mora 612, but I don't feel the need to defend myself in that way... yet.
Counterexample: There was a case where a german knived a serb who had been pushing him. The german was sentenced to 3 years of jail - problem was, he stabbed the guy without warning, then did not call the police but rather fled the scene. There are other examples where a defendant did indeed kill an attacker with a knive and was set free.
Wish my Kobun wasn't dulled by its sheath :(
