Here we go
My dad said msg is bad for you
Good for you, bad for wallet.
Older Galil AR apex kit build
Will be refinished don't worry
I got my boyfriend a CETME Model C parts kit for Christmas (shh, don't tell him). It'll go with the Polymer80 Glock 17 kit I got him for his birthday.
m1a?
Nope, M14 parts kit. New barrel, receiver and firing pin, the rest is USGI.
>New barrel, receiver and firing pin
so most of the rifle then, and an M1A since its not an M14 receiver...
How much should I pay for an excellent Yugo capture K98k with all accesories? I'm thinking $450, would that be a bad deal?
Should I buy a parts kit because it is of a specific year that has personal meaning to me despite not having a proper gun?
You stupid niggers are the reason the price for nuggets is still high
That would be a good deal.
>giving a shit about the price of mosins
>doesn't own a mosin already
Y O U L O S E
Whered you get the lower receiver bruv
^
Nigger, I'm only going that high because everyone and their mother wants a K98k. I don't want to go shitting up the pure autism, numbers matching market so I thought that I could get a cheap Yugo capture one as a shooter. Turns out that there is still a lot of people that I have to compete with to just get a shooter. Also, inflation, increased demand, and decreasing supply, i.e. no more imports are the reasons for surp increasing in price. Nuggets will never be $79 again.
>tfw I was too young to get a cheap nugget
>tfw I'm still too young to get cheap milsurp handguns
It sucks being a 20 year old that's into surp.
How much should I pay for a Type 30 bayonet for a Type 99 Arisaka? I see some for $200 here and there, but then there are some that are like $25 on ebay. I kind of just want a bayonet. Doesn't need to have any rare markings or be absolutely pristine.
How did a commercial SAI recoil pad end up on an M14 parts kit?
M1A is specifically a Springfield brand. Everybody else calls theirs semi M14s.
Very cool. Gonna make the receiver yourself?
I don't understand why K98s are so insanely popular. I mean, sure, Nazi Germany and whatnot, but in my experience Mausers, while very pretty, are so bland to shoot and I don't know why people pay $700+ even for a K98 that looks like it got a quick tickle by a garbage disposal just because it has a dirty bird on it.
Meanwhile having a Japanese mum on your Arisaka only raises the value by $100 or so. I can find $400 mum intact Arisakas all day.

Any Nazi memorabilia commands a huge premium. And it’s not just rifles. A genuine Nazi stahlhelm will cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, but a Finnish contract helmet made out of the same materials to the same specifications in the same factory by the same people can be had for $50 bucks.
I know, I just want a K98k just to try one out. That's why I'm looking at yugo captures, should be cheaper because literally no German markings aside from Mod. 98. And there's still people willing to throw $500+ at them. Link related.
i got mine for 200 bucks, pretty sharp early war handle and hooked quillon and came with the scabbard and easy to read the markings
Like with the guns the quality is based on the year it was made. Late war is gonna be shit quality everything. Early war has all the bells and whistles. and of course price dictates which is which.
Discord for the folks who want to join.
pedant.
Guess I dont have a pic saved. Have a psuedo M72AB1 kit (M70 rear trunnion). Really excited to build it but haven't gotten the receiver yet. Been too busy with other stuff.
Also, a buddy of mine wants to trade my crate of yugo brass surplus 7.62x39 and $250 for a swiss K1911 in nice shape. Is this a good deal? I'll probably never shoot the ammo. The only thing that concerns me is that 7.5x55 swiss is impossibru to find.
Where did you buy your kit? They were all over gunbroker a few years back, but I regret not grabbing two.
I may be mistaken but I think the crate alone would sell for $300+. So no, $550 isn't a good deal for a K11.
Is $1k a good price for a FN 49? It's not one of the fake ones CAI imported and slapped a reproduction stock on.
Depends how desperate you are to have one right now.
Caliber and national origin? Yes for a Belgian or Luxembourger in .30-'06 or an Argentine in 7.62NATO; no for an Egyptian in 8x57 or a Venezuelan in 7x57mm.
I got mine for like $70 a month or two ago off ebay.
They've got 5 of the things lined up in a shop near me. They're in 8mm Mauser, 30.06, and 7mm Mauser. The 8mm and 7mm are in pretty standard light brown stocks, while the 8mm is a darker stock with a brass disk in it and Arabic markings painted on the butt of the rifle (rack numbers?).
If that's too much, should I try to talk them down? What's a reasonable price if $1k is too much?
800 would be better.
I seriously doubt they'd just knock 20% off. Taking a quick look at Gunbroker, they seem to easily go for $1,200+ too.
>implying Gunbroker is even a valid measurement of value in the first place
Yeah some will sell for that if the buyer wants it now, but it's not hard to find them for around $800. Hence my question about how badly you want to buy right now.
Where'd you get it so it comes with a receiver? Anyone know any guides for rebuilding one in semi so your dog doesn't get shot?
I also want to know
Don't have a parts kit surp. Gona go get my Berthier M16 tomorrow.
Standard AK parts kit.
>I'm not a clever man
post m1s
I need to find some things to spice up my M1 picture once I get a bayonet and sling. I'm thinking
>burger
>american flag
>shitty beer
>type 38 long rifle
>sanded stock
>mismatched numbers
>mirror bore
>mum intact
What would be a reasonable price? And an excellent price? Selling a type 99 last ditch rifle and type 30 bayonet for the dude, he wants me to sell this rifle as well but I kind of like it. I know a lot of the collector value is gone due to the sanding but I’ve always like the looks of the type 38s.
Wait correction, I built a 1903 from a kit.
If you're wondering, it was cheaper than normal because someone duffel cut the stock like a bitch.
Neat.
200.
>tfw NJ
Please tell me I can trick them into thinking an M1A1 is a different gun, much like how under NJ law a M1A is not an M14.
Wood looks good on yours.
Is everyone ready to get spooOOOooo/k/y
Yeah I'm pretty pleased with it. Apart from the dings near the sling cutout it's the nicest stock on any of my milsurps. Even has the proofing, acceptance, and manufacturers stamps.
No spoop.
Get the skeletons away!
Anyone know a place to get k98 stripped receivers?
I've got every part of a rifle except the receiver.
Aw that is real sweet. Lucky guy!
Oh, I'd think at least $300 these days.
I'm looking to buy a Bren parts kit from IMA. Should I go for the hand-select option, and if so what sort of things should I ask for?
bump
gunbroker.com
can anyone tell me if this is a real blonde stock? i've been looking for a blonde k98 for months now but the black marks all over this (in the bolt handle recess and rear sling mount) and the fact that it's an RC makes me think the stock was chemically made blonde.
any expert opinions?
also feeling like a fool for passing up a much nicer looking blonde k98 i saw back in september.
pic unrelated, my family
Post Mannlichers
I'm not going to be much help to you but I just want to say; I hope you enjoy your Bren Gun, it was my grandad's favourite gun. He once told me that he wanted to be buried with a Bren Gun in hand.
I suspect it's sanded, given the uneven sling slot cuts.
Mannlichers?
I mean mine was $250 in March, and it's a first year production.
Thanks, I'm really looking forward to it.
bump for help
Still waiting on the goddamn tooling.
Soon(tm)!
P.S. Fuck armorers in general, especially those near me.
Do you or any other anons here know where to get a full set of wood furniture for a No.1 Mk3 that matches in color? Even repro, I don't care.
Trying to put a sporterized SMLE back into its original configuration, but don't want it to look completely like a franken-gun.
but frankenguns are nice
Built both from kits of numrich, first builds I've ever done.
Also got pic related for 300 at a gun show, ((10)) 74 kit with what I think is a headspaced OG barrel, jury's still out on that though.
Missing trigger guard, but all matching
Finding a full set of furniture at all is going to be close to impossible
Chink SKS for $300 local?
Go for it that's the best you'll probably ever see an SKS selling for from now on
Since it's missing, spiker or blade bayonet if I get it?
well if it's chinese, only a spike bayonet is going to fit the stock. If it's fucked with at all beyond not having the bayonet, it's not worth $300.
Nah, that's the only thing that looks off. Honestly, I had no idea the Chinese even had blade bayonets until today when I was looking into what a replacement costs. If I dug deeper, I would have found out that they stopped in the 60s
Are you planning to reweld?
Yeah then depending on how cheap you can get the parts for a bayonet I'd say it's not a bad deal. SKS is a nice handy gun that's pretty idiot-proof.
My two Chinese sks's have blade bayonets. They were made in 1959 and are marked Type 56 on the import markings. Commercial production Norincos though only have the spike bayonet.
>well if it's chinese, only a spike bayonet is going to fit the stock.
Wrong. Early Type 56 Chinese SKS were fitted for blade bayonets, even on the commercial side. That said, the stock cuts for the bayonet types are different so you'll need to determine which bayonet your stock can fit.
Not entirely true. As long as you have the Chinese characters on the side (which say "type five six"), it's a military rifle. While definitely uncommon, there are commercial rifles that are made out of old military parts, blade bayonet included, which have the characters scrubbed to denote it as export only and not military.
>2 k98's
Save some for the rest of us.
>Save some for the rest of us.
Yeah.
>but in my experience Mausers, while very pretty, are so bland to shoot
What makes them bland to you?
I hate being a poorfag I gave up a matching one and if shit hits the fan I'm buying parts off of ebay already have a stock and barrel for my bayonet..
>gave up a matching one nigga what?
well first off thats not how you green text and what I mean is I gave up on my hopes of getting a matching number one.
>I gave up on my hopes of getting a matching number one.
Don't let your dreams be memes.
How do you plan on refinishing it?
I've been in every pawn shop and have been browsing gunbroker and /bsg/ for over 2 and a half years. I think my dreams are going to stay that way unless I find 1,000+ dollars in the street.
Not the user you were responding to but how did you find such a nice Gewehr 98? Everytime I see on gunbroker or armslist, they're always beat to shit, sporterized, or mismatched with pitted bores.
I feel you user. I'm and hoping that I can scratch the mauser itch with a yugo capture. Probably not but it could help a bit.
found everything mosins for 250 last month passed. I even found a g43 that I did buy for 1,000 didnt know what the guy was thinking. I'll post pics later but got to go home now
Finally got a picture of all my surps.
i see junky chinks selling for that on the secondary market its a good price but for a trashy chink its about average.
I have a redhead and a brunette, just need that perfect blonde and I'll never buy another, I promise.
But I'll never find a real blonde at this rate
