Can we have a conversation about Sig Sauer w/out going full blown retarded?
Many of us, myself included, have had some concerns about the decline in quality from Sig Sauer. These factors include: >Indian made MIM parts that are not properly heat treated/rusted >The Non drop safe P320 >Lawsuits from Police Departments over largely unreliable P229s >Ron J. Cohen's history with Kimber >P365 Firing pin issues
Whats the fucking deal? Why does Sig try to make 30 versions of the same gun when they can't seem to make one correctly these days? Will Sig ever return to it's glory days? Also, when buying a Sig what do you look for (assuming you are buying older ones).
Got a sig 522. Hate how I can’t find replacement parts. Kick ass 22 rifle though.
John Brooks
Strangely enough i hear that their 1911 line has been largely insulated from these sorts of QC issues like the p229 reliability ones and the general p series finish issues.
Benjamin Harris
They got greedy. Thought they could cut costs to pump out another pistol or two every year like Glock and have the diehard fans buy it up and coast on reputation.
I would say it started going downhill just before they were bought out by L&O Holdings in '17
Some interesting stories from employees about quality slipping on Glass Door if anyone is interested.
Xavier Nelson
>Buy P938 as first gun >Barrel would get stuck in slide when trying to reassemble >Shooting 124gr ammo made magazine shoot out because weak spring in mag release
I got it serviced and there doesn't appear to be any issues anymore over about 150 rounds
I carry it appendix condition 1 whenever I go out, should I be worried?
Considering the older model guns, some of those employee reviews just make me sad. Hopefully their CEO reasses his priorities now that he got the 320 contract.
Nathaniel Perry
Tried a P320 at the range and it just felt like garbage. Maybe it was because it's a rental gun, but >didn't chamber a round properly >mag was loose I just didn't get along with it. Pic related. Dem programs were calling.
Mine was fine reliability wise but it just didn't agree with me in terms of grip. Also felt a little flippier and more awkward than other striker fireds. Sold it off.
> They get more waivers for bad parts than I ever thought possible, can’t imagine why they’ve had huge recalls. They’ve thrown their quality standards out the window for a quick buck. Just pump out and send as many bad parts as possible and hope some of them work essentially.
Julian Young
I shit my friends p320 recently and no shit it was the first striker fired handgun I liked, was also the first full size striker fired handgun ive actually fired more than 1 mag the ergos are comfy new trigger was okay, not bad, just okay
Carson Rogers
Has their optics business suffered the same fate? I know that it's actually headquaartered in Portland OR not Exeter NH which is kind of interesting. I have a couple of their Tango 6 scopes that I absolutely love but they're made in Japan by Light Optical Works.
Ethan Gomez
I think its hit or miss, but their Romeo 5 is getting good reviews
Adrian Jenkins
why does your gun have a china export proof mark?
Jace Nguyen
Rumor is their electrooptics are re-branded and packages holosuns. They're not the best and I'm willing to accept that.
As for their pistols, I have a lot of them. Don't buy Gen 1 of anything they make and you'll generally be fine. They experiment with designs and get things to market quickly. Along with that comes the need to thoroughly test anything you buy. It does give you the opportunity to pickup some really interesting pieces. For instance I really like the P290rs in 9mm. They're not making them any longer but I've got two for pocket guns. I actually like the two stage DAO trigger. Other manufacturers may have never released that gun because of poor popularity but SIG did and I now have an interesting carry piece that I don't have to worry about covering the trigger in a pocket. I can just toss it in an empty pocket and roll.
I'm willing to accept the good with the bad. If you need an out of the box go to hell and back pistol, buy an HK. If you're willing to put a few boxes of ammo through a gun and maybe install an after market trigger, SIG has some interesting options. I've had nothing but dead nuts reliability but I know others have had different experiences. I have truly never seen a SIG fail after running a few boxes of ammo through one with no issues. They either fail right away or they work forever.
Benjamin Allen
>Rumor is their electrooptics are re-branded and packages holosuns.
They rebrand other mfg's too, for instance I have one of their Romeo3 reflex sights I got for stupid cheap expecting it to be made in China but it's actually a reworked C-More RTS2, which is apparently well thought of in certain competitive pistol classes and made in Japan.
As for Holosun the Chink aspect is unfortunate but you could pick worse Mfg's to rebrand...
Nicholas James
>it's actually a reworked C-More RTS2
No shit? I'll have to check that out.
Jeremiah Bailey
its a chinese mauser, duh
Colton Cruz
>decline in quality from Sig Sauer It’s well known that they’ve suffered from a “decline in quality” ever since they moved production from West Germany and Switzerland to New Hampshire.
Alexander Diaz
Thoughts on sig p938. Just put one on layaway.
Brayden Hall
Cool thanks for parroting some shit you read on Jow Forums without adding anything to the conversation about current Sig.
Elijah Hughes
Not really my first choice for a single stack 9mm. Why not the Walther PPS (that can be found for $300), G43, or Shield 2.0?
Kevin Nelson
I love the mold line, it's like a knockoff Ken doll. Combined with the lack of perpendicular or parallel lines, this pistol is pure sex
Does anyone here have a Sig 1911? I was eyeing an Emperor Scorpion.
Nathan Hall
I had a Sig 1911 TacOps. Sold it for a HK45. It was a good gun. No real issues, few FTE in the first 100.
Dominic Rogers
I have a p938 too. I like it very much --very reliable. Shouldn't be worried...never say never though...same with any gun.
Alexander Bell
Not single action only
Jacob Ward
>Why not the Walther PPS (that can be found for $300), G43, or Shield 2.0?
The PPS has a very heavy trigger, the G43 is comparatively huge, and he wants rifling in his barrel. The P938 is a fine pistol.
Brayden Evans
It seems like they focused more on hype and marketing (ie the Legion line) rather than being consistent in quality
Gavin Perez
My friend has a FBI trade in p226 in .40 and it is a very nice gun. I enjoy shooting it. It is probably from around 2005 or so.
Levi Jenkins
>Dear Diary
Wyatt Ramirez
All of those are too big for a skinny Fit fuck like my self. I need it for deep cover carry at work. Shit I can barely conceal a glock 19.
Ayden Williams
The OG line of 220-229 are still fine even from the Exeter plant. You'd be hard pressed to find a person in real life who has one with any complaints. The only people who bitch about them are ones who read about it online. Their newer models are mid tier forgettable trash just like every other brands mid tier forgettable trash.
Brayden Walker
>peoples' anecdotes aren't relevant or helpful if I don't think so Wow, you're a faggot.
I'm a security officer. Shirts have to be tucked in and I wear tight clothing. I'm going to pocket carry with a pocket hoster. I appendix carry off duty on the regulars
John Gonzalez
Ah, when I was working in an office I'd always pocket carry a P238. Tucking in your shirt kills your carry options.
Anthony Lopez
Ya it does, I feel a micro 9mm will be my best bet if something goes south at work, workplace shooting or mass shooter. I'm going to get my armed security license in a few months but until then, this will do.
Joseph Peterson
Some Sigs are made in the same facotry, and uses the same base emitters, but Sig actually redesigns a lot of their own stuff. Sig stuff are also made in Philippines and japan too, same as vortex.
Holosun itself isn't original manufacture either. Their also just designing their stuff and then the factory makes it to their spec. Same deal with primary arms.
I'm actually surprised that no one ever mentions their BDX line though. I guess it's because they market it mostly towards hunters.
Wyatt Adams
It's too bad they let QC on the SIG556 go so far down the toilet that they got a bad rep and ended up pulling them from their product line, because the SG550 is a really great design.
Blake Torres
>Their newer models are mid tier forgettable trash just like every other brands mid tier forgettable trash.
Which of their models are you calling mid-tier trash?
Jason Rivera
516, 556, MCX, MPX, P365, and P320 all had major QC issues, recalls, or in the case of the P320 a serious safety problem. I want to like them so bad but this is getting ridiculous.
Juan Peterson
>let is discuss sig issues >I like this gun >but has these legitimate issues >hahaha look at these tards off topic
Yes. That’s called “discussion,” user. I know living in a basement for 20 years while your alcoholic mom puts her cigarettes out your arm has made you forget what real conversation is like, but this is it. Enjoy it.
Jaxson Martinez
I feel like current Sig is hit or miss. To elaborate, I feel like they just pump out firearms with little to no regard on QC and hope they work. Some Sigs work amazingly and will last you decades. Others will shit themselves after the first mag. I understand Sig has amazing customer service and warranties, but that’s not good enough with the firearms industry. People buy these products with the expectation that they will save their, and possibly others’, lives. There is no room for error.
That said, I hope the MHS contract will force Sig to get back on track. If the US Army of all people were to denounce Sig, they will forever be ruined.
Hunter Johnson
>That said, I hope the MHS contract will force Sig to get back on track. If the US Army of all people were to denounce Sig, they will forever be ruined.
Imagine the P320 gets compared poorly to the 92FS in service. I don't think it would be The End For Sig but it would be a massive blow to their rep, which is already shaky after the P250 and SIG 556 among other things.
Isaac Bailey
Look at these poor babies. Their blog post about how their friend has a P226 that they thought was neat was truly under valued. How could one reject such objective reporting of Sig’s current state of affairs with posts like
Other than people not liking the trigger and some first release issues what was wrong with the P250? People who have them seem to really like them.
Easton Richardson
>Can we have a conversation about Sig Sauer w/out going full blown retarded?
No. I want so hard to be a fanboi, but jesus christ sig get your shit together.
Joseph Gonzalez
I have little experience with it, but despite the low adoption rates I'm of the opinion the P250 has possibly the best DA trigger I've ever tried, full stop. What's wrong with it?
The P320 wasn't even drop safe, so how can the P250 be worse?
Easton Hall
Have a 1911 XO, 600 rounds through it so far, no issues.
Thomas Garcia
>buy modern production SP2022 Is good gun, works reliably. However, feels unrefined and not what I was expecting from an actual Sig. >nab a mid-90s German 228 from a local sale Holy shit, this is euphoria. I understand why the SEALs picked these in the past.
Daniel Butler
>I feel like when typing this you should stop and delete
Brody Thompson
I have one and I think it's a piece of shit. It has the worst parralax of red dot I've ever seen and the zero shifts every 40-50 rds. I cant sell the thing fast enough.
Camden Rodriguez
Out the gate the P250 had some issues but I snagged one right before they ended production. It’s a 45 subcompact I got in the $200s brand new. Kind of big just to hold 6 rounds but the gun is damn good. Bonus is I don’t give a shit if the police ever took it as evidence in a self defense shooting.
I wish I could find a 9mm compact new for a deal I’d buy another one. Everyone saying it’s a shit trigger is just parroting shit. I’d take this trigger over the P30 trigger any day.
Kayden Reed
>the switch to coiled recoil springs >made the extractor big as fuck when it doesn't need to be >(((cohen)))
I love my MK.25 after I swapped in a west german recoil spring. It makes me sad, because they used to be my favorite company
I'd agree that Sigs QC is dropping, more than likely because of who's running the company. With that said though, I've got 4 pistols from them, P226R, P229R, P320 Carry, and P320 full size. I haven't had any issues from any of these pistols. They're all boringly reliable and accurate.
Joseph Sanders
>hey guyz i'm in on the meme guyz
Lucas Cooper
So if I bought a P226 right now am I looking at a significantly shittier version than say 5 years ago?
Oliver Thompson
No, they're all fine
Cameron Harris
how are sig's rifles are they good or have they gone down in quality as well
Cameron Bell
they're good to go
Josiah Peterson
I don’t want to get in a shit flinging match but how can you say they are GTG when Sig is having issue after issue when launching weapons like P290, P250, P320, P365, and various rifles, issues with MIM parts breaking from not being properly treated, large lawsuits from places like NJ police for 3000 malfunctioning P229s, etc. I feel like evidence is saying you have a significant chance of the weapon not being GTG. I think chances are if you buy one you’ll be fine but you seem to have a much higher chance of getting a lemon than say Glock or HK.
Carter Jenkins
None of the "issues" you bring up are even remotely a thing. PD's gun failures are widespread across many brands, and are usually because police are dumb as fuck and have no idea how to use a weapon.
>MIM Almost every gun company uses MIM(and many use IndoMIM). It's not an issue. If you have an issue with MIM parts I would'nt get in an airplane. Or drive a car. Or go to the dentist.
>Glock Yeah, PD's have never had any issues with them! Or M&P's.
We're living in a crybaby era, where if one item has a problem it's cool to get on the snowflakebook anf fagforums to complain like a retard for attention.
>MY TOYOTA HAD A ISSUE WITH THE STARTER ITS JEWPANESE SHIT NEVER AGIAN
Nolan Gutierrez
>Horrible quality >even worse customer service
Cooper Jones
>30 versions of the same gun This was something that Cohen started and also used at Kimber. It's a marketing gimmick to make up sales losses with consumer pandering and minimal changes to production. The Legion campaign was the most cringe-inducing example of that. It didn't happen because they had high sales, it's because they already had problems.
Nolan Hill
Anyone else sometimes rent a gun just to run it super hard and burn up their barrel?
sounds like a shitty way to throw away money on ammo
Jacob Cox
>That sudden influx of "DON'T WORK HERE" posts on glassdoor around mid 2017 followed by a bunch of five star reviews full of buzzwords Embarassing
Xavier Ortiz
>former shitty employees blaming their employer surprising!
Christian Brown
You are purposely being retarded. I didn't say MIM was an issue. I said improperly heat treated MIM was an issue. You also skipped right over my point of multiple failed launches to build a bunch of strawmen to argue your point with and ended your point of a CRY BABY FAGET JEW rant. Youre being a brainlet and taking this to heart when you don't need to.
Nathan Lewis
Glassdoor is a scam site like Yelp or BBB. They allow the bad reviews and try to get you to pay to remove them.
Ryder Taylor
The US Army chose SIG, that’s all I need to know. I can’t believe Glock fags are still so butt blasted over losing!
Glocks are for McDonalds sheepdawgs SIGs are for black ops operations operators
Gavin Bell
>(((Cohen)))
It's literally over for SIG.
Levi Edwards
>t. boomer
Day of the Reverse Mortgage soon
Sebastian Thompson
IWB can be done with a tucked in shirt, but you need the right gun and the right build for it to pull it off well. I've experimented with my Glock 26 lately and while it's short enough, double stacks are just too damn wide to conceal properly.
Austin Williams
3 years ago I wanted a P320 so bad because hicock45 shilled for it so good. I held one at the LGS and it sucked so much I bought a Glock 17 because it felt so much better. Looking back I made the right choice at the time.
Easton Hughes
I’ve had both the P320 and G17. I actually like the P320 better because the ergonomics feel so much better to me. I think either way you would have walked away with a good gun.
David Peterson
>burn up the barrel you're giving yourself too much credit.
Adrian Perry
>Holy shit, this is euphoria. I understand why the SEALs picked these in the past.
Terrible shit posting. As someone who has old SIGs, the newer guns have better fit and finish. Occasionally new guns are fucked up out the box but that can be dealt with. The only reason I still have them is because I just haven't sold them yet.
Robert Jones
>how can you say they are GTG when Sig is having issue after issue when launching weapons like P290, P250, P320, P365, and various rifles, issues with MIM parts breaking from not being properly treated,
Don't Buy Gen 1
It literally mitigates your list of issues. They're fine out of the box after gen 1.
John Sullivan
And that applies to all mfgs, at least ones that actually introduce new designs instead of adding side serrations or changing mag releasees on a gun and calling it new. Shit, Ruger experiences issues with almost every new gun they come out with.
Tyler Cox
You have fucked up hands of a glock feels better than anything else.
Chase Hill
>Rumor is their electrooptics are re-branded and packages holosuns
This is pretty much indisputable.
Zachary Rogers
>going full blown retard >begins a thread with loads of fucking political and baity shit
Jace Sullivan
I really don't know what you guys are bitching about, I've had my P320 since they came out, no its not "drop safe" but I don't drop my guns because I'm not a bumbling retard. 10k rounds later I've only had like 2 failures depending on the ammo I chose, one was caused by some 124gr flat nosed stuff from federal and the other was some steel case tula.
I really don't know where you guys bitch about rust issues because mine doesn't have any evidence of wear caused by manufacturer defect let alone rust. Its almost like you guys cherry picked images and anecdotes by scowering the internet and regurgitate them over and over here till you're blue in the face.
Lmao as if, the FDE Cerakote on my modern Sig may look nicer, but that’s where it ends. The German-made one feels far tougher, smoother and solid in the hand. You’re out your ass or lying, retard. Enjoy your Nu-Sig. They’re not bad guns, they’re just not as good as they were.
Carter Russell
We live in the age of modern computer modeling. There's no excuse to not have drop safe guns. Props to SIG they did issue a recall, whereas Glock would probably just blame the user.
>no shit it was the first striker fired handgun I liked >was also the first full size striker fired handgun ive actually fired more than 1 mag You don't say.
Ryan Diaz
Yeah, but it's a free fix for an issue. That being said I like the design concepts of the P320, but find the gun to be rather ugly and not that exciting outside of it's modularity.
Aiden Watson
I didn't send my p320 back yet purely because its a 4 week wait and I'd rather just order a better trigger online and replace it myself
