You need a longer vertical grip. Maybe a giant dildo.

Geissele is good to go, and the Mk14 is solid.

I consistently learn more from Sage Dynamics' tuesday video drops than I do from GT's.

Long vertical grip useful for keeping your paw off of laser and light pressure pads to prevent accidental discharge.

Whats your rifle weigh lads?

Im trying to cut it down even further. Probably going to try and nab this rail on black friday.

vsevenweaponsystems.com/vseven-magnesium-hyper-light-keymod-handguard-ar-15/
>inb4 keymod
They make an mlok one, but it weighs a little bit more, plus I'd have to buy a new grip, sling mount, and light mount.

I'd like to find a lighter stock, but this one clocks in at right about 6oz. Not enough savings on the MFT minimalist to warrant looking that autistic. Maybe I'll just attack this one with a dremel and chop an ounce off.

Attached: 1540786849942.jpg (2688x1520, 1.18M)

kill yourself you disgusting waste of space

>yfw you are now noguns

Attached: 1537385189032.jpg (638x1000, 92K)

what is wrong with keymod?

not as strong as mlok, which concerns me a bit with an 11" rail that only weighs 4.9oz. Also, I personally think mlok looks better. Its only like half an ounce difference, but if I'm throwing down $300 on a rail to be light as possible, i might as well get the most out of it.

strong? are you doing pullups off your flashlight?

soldiersystems.net/2017/05/05/details-on-the-ussocom-sponsored-keymod-vs-m-lok-test-conducted-at-nswc-crane/

100% of MLOK accessories stayed attached during a pretty nasty drop test (5ft onto a steel plate)
33% of Keymod did.

well don't drop your rifles

>(5ft onto a steel plate)
>shoots off a bench anyway

sorry I'm not fighting in the race war yet.
This is my grab and go gun, so strength is a consideration.. but I also want to get autistic with the weight.

>I'm not fighting in the race war yet
Screw your optics im going in

Does anyone have a PEQ15 or preferably PEQ16, a LaRue or KAC offset T1/T2 mount, and a T2? Can you see if the offset red dot clears the IR laser box?

That your gun?

I wouldn't hold out for VSeven Black Friday Sales. Might not have anything. Is that one of those Faxon barrels where the gas block slides over the muzzle device? How do you like it?

>This is my grab and go gun, so strength is a consideration.. but I also want to get autistic with the weight.
BCM MCMR strikes a good balance between strength and weight while being on the lighter side. Geissele Mk8 also strikes a good balance while being on the heavier more rigid side.
For a grab and go gun, both are superior to VSeven IMO by virtue of being stronger and more durable (likely to be the case just looking at the weight at attachment mechanism), and they're cheaper to boot. Just food for thought.

Attached: DSC03240.jpg (3169x2339, 1.91M)

No but to be serious if you people (everyone ITT) put half as much into shooting skills/physical fitness that you did into arguing about weight/attachment systems or any other number of marginal functional improvements, you could be a top tier shooter/operator/larpertaor. If you are genuinely building the build to make a light weight rifle that is for dicking around with on the range or for the fun of the build then buy keymod because it doesnt matter anyway. But also save weight by dropping the light at that point which further devolves the rifle from a "practical" usecase. So really decide now, before you replace your rail if you want to go all in balls to the wall autism light or just want a nice handy rifle.

As it stands 7lbs 2oz loaded with a dot, light and full handguard is actually really fine for a practical rifle (barring you being actually handicapped)

No thanks/10

Which surefire pressure switch to get? Should I just get the SR-D-IT since I plan on getting an ir laser next year?

I've considered the MCMR. V7 makes a titanium nut for it, which would put the 13" rail at about 8.5oz. Current rail is 7.5oz installed which is nice, but it's a guntec so i imagine it got to that weight by being weak which is why i want to replace it.

Mlok is objectively better but weighs more. Nothing to argue there. It's also 3am and I recently got home for work. Am I supposed to go out to the range and shoot at midnight?

The reason I want the gun itself to weigh as little as possible is so that it stays super light even with a flaslight, dot, and the grips I want onboard. That reason is why I want to swap my rail. The one I have I have hasn't given me any issue NOT to trust it, but I would feel more comfortable in a real life situation if there was something more well known on it.
I'm just trying to walk a line between strength and weight.
>and gucci aesthetrics

>Am I supposed to go out to the range and shoot at midnight?
Yes. You have a flashlight on there.
>hasn't given me any issue NOT to trust it, but I would feel more comfortable in a real life situation if there was something more well known on it.
Then go with the above suggestion of an MCMR (without a TI nut)
>Light enough
>Strong enough
>Gucci enough
But really if your rail isnt giving you trouble id probably overhaul your light, buis, dot and muzzle device first. I cant see the other side of your rifle but I hope there is a QD stud at the end of your rifle for that sling that isnt pictured.

To expand upon these
>light
Streamlight is not just as good no matter how much people will claim, especially sitting up next to a muzzle brake.
>buis
Polymer mbus have a shitty failure condition where the polymer snaps and the sight has no support or the polymer snaps and the sight wont go down.
>dot
MRO is blue, shit battery contacts, massive parallax and generally ugly
>muzzle device
Why bother with a flashlight and that massive muzzle brake? You will just set the person on fire or illuminate them with your muzzle flash. But seriously that is going to destroy your natural night vision any time youre shooting in the dark.

If youre worried about scoring gucci points you need to address these points before swapping a functional handguard.

Posting dank OC

MCMR with Ti nut isn't a bad call. But don't get too caught up in the weight stuff. I'm all about reducing weight, especially towards the end of the gun, but remember that you gotta buy ammo, sidearms, gear, armor plates, night vision, and of course other guns too.

Bottom line is that you should strive to strike a balance IMO.

Attached: DSC03321.jpg (4353x3048, 3.69M)

Protip: When taking a photo try to have your subject in focus and obey the rule of 3rds. Your rifle is 1/3 out of contrast and the "center" of your photo is a handguard + VFG

Attached: DSC03323.jpg (4440x2960, 3.57M)

This is a better photo

Itd be nice if there was a range open at midnight.

Still dabbling with that weight to strength ratio. I'd be adding several ounces that route.

>buis
nothing wrong with MBUS. they're actually the strongest BUIS.
>light
I don't see what advantage a surefire would give me over a streamlight. I've put some streamlights through some serious shit, to the point where I trust them with my life. This one has had a good 500 rounds through it where it currently sits, though I may push it back
>muzzle device
Pinned and welded. It's lightweight and works.
>Dot
Yeah, MRO isn't the best. The parallax test that everyone quotes though is from the extreme far edges of the dot. It is kinda ugly, but I kinda like it too.
>QD stud
there is. I have an MS1 with QD sockets on both end. Part of the reason I picked that ugly brown stock was that it has a built in QD mount and only weighs about 6oz.
>and the brown was on sale for $5

I originally built this rifle around the lightweight barrel as a light, handy, grab n go gun. It's kind of fun to see how light I can get it without spending an absurd amount of money on titanium parts and etc. I wanted to build something light, practical, and attainably priced. As it sits, it's at about $1450 with all accessories. Could be less if I'd have gone with like an anderson lower, milspec trigger (has MBT) and a standard AIM BCG. I think the problem is that I am trying to do too many things with one gun. I'm not going to autistically screech if I dont have a sub 5lb AR, but part of the challenge is improving my rail without adding weight.

Like I said man its up to you

At least keymod doesn't require timing like mlok

Show examples of polymer buis failing, the mbus sights from what little testing I know has been done outside of the manufacturer holds zero well and doesn't "snap"

All optics have parallax, when companies like aimpoint cite no parallax it is basically "no appreciable parallax"
It's physically impossible to not have parallax

>mbus is stronkest buis
That's complete horseshit. No fucking way some pigfat pieces of plastic are as durable as steel.

>mlok timing
Literally a non-issue if you're attaching accessories properly. Mlok slots also have the advantage of not looking like penises.

Thanks for tip, but what do you mean by "Your rifle is 1/3 out of contrast"?

>$1450
Jesus fuck. This is why It is important not to blindly pursue super specific or niche aspects of a build. Reminds me of my 11.5" tiger stripe build. Ended up being like $1900, but wasn't even actually a good gun, kinda like what you have got going. My current 300blk gun is far superior, and was done for like $1200 not counting optics, lights, and lasers.

Just use moly grease.

Don't let the haters fool you. The BCG is *the* main subject of mechanical wear on an AR, aside from the barrel, especially on overgassed platforms like your typical 10.5". Precision cold-hammer forging with magnetic particle inspection and a TiN coating is not a bad investment.

Primary Arms 3x is a freaking steal for the quality. Not as combat tested as an ACOG, but good enough, and very durable. Anyway, if the optic breaks, yank it off and flip up the BUIS. If the bolt or carrier breaks, your rifle is now out of service.

No banned, just been ocupado and haven't had much time to spare recently. Should be back on soon, hopefully tomorrow.

Not sure when the next meetup is planned, we should just make one and remedy that. I've tentatively got something scheduled for mid-November at a local outdoor range, will fill you in, you're deffo invited.

Attached: mk12.jpg (2048x1536, 822K)

1) you're not sending that many rounds down range so why not just buy another barrel
2) if your m4 is overgassed then how about not having it over gassed? it puts premature wear on parts. sure you can shoot p much any ammo with 0 problem but why would you be shooting shitty inconsistent ammo to start with? that is unless you're plinking, in that case why give that much of a fuck about parts wear if they're dirt fucking cheap
3) yeah it's where a lot of wear is, but again just buy another bcg if your bolt sheers, or your bcg goes to shit, either if which i hardly EVER see

tldr; spend your money on something else than a meme carrier that doesnt do much that a regular bcg already does

Did both yesterday. XDDDD

Mk.262 vs. XM556-FBIT

Just got a really good deal on both, trying to decide what I want in my half-assed Mk.18 build

Attached: 79F0CEF4-D617-492E-A051-51386B85773F.jpg (500x500, 65K)

Mk262 for 10.5 1:7 twist barrel

Plot twist;
Use 75gr speer gold dots or Federal 62gr tactical bonded

77gr tmk or a bonded core bullet

I like that the Mk.262 is explosive on flesh but I also like that the FBIT is barrier blind. I have more of the 62 gr. than I do of the 77 gr. so I’ll do some extra accuracy testing before I decide what to leave it loaded with.

262 is a defensive round for military units or people on a budget
XM556SBCT3 is okay but not the best performing civilian loads you can get your hands on.

Base your defensive loadings on what you can buy not what you have in inventory currently.

Is IMI 77gr SMK OTM any good?
I've heard IMI m193 is shitty

whats the word on PSA premium BCGs? my buddy just gave me two brand new BCG since he picked up some cryptics

So what would you recommend for the task then? Obviously I want something a little heavier but everywhere I go people usually just say Mk.262

I bought the FBIT because it was $0.45/rd on sale though

IMI is shit, get black hills 77gr otm if you want nice ammo

>otm
>nice
Okay grandpa

>So what would you recommend for the task then?
see imi is trash

How much better do 55 gr varmint hunting bullets do against humans than 55gr fmj?

Pic related is what I keep in my home defense mag thinking that it’ll do better at dropping intruders but I got nothing but a hunch to back that up.

Attached: AR.png (1715x1006, 381K)

Some sort of rear sight will make it much easier to shoot

If I can change the gas block to a low profile one, I can just attack flip up irons, correct? Maybe I need to retool these choices to work right after being assembled.

anyone ID this trigger pls?

If you change to a low profile gas block, you are also going to need a free float handguard.
Check out the BCM MCMR
But yes with a low pro gas block and free float handguard you can run flip ups front and rear

>you're not sending that many rounds down range so why not just buy another barrel

Not sure what you're talking about there.

>if your m4 is overgassed then how about not having it over gassed?

For the reason you just said: the ability to eat any ammo. This upper's POU (thx nutn) means I want my rifle ready to go with scavenged ammo, wal-mart shit, or whatever crap some Fudd relative has stockpiled. And I want it to keep shooting no matter how dirty it gets or if I can't lube it for a while.

If I'm shooting precision with premium ammo, I'm more likely to throw the previously depicted mid-gas, fluted stainless 5R barrel Mk12 upper on, but for this Mk18 upper, I really value the ability to feed it anything and know it's going to go bang every time.

>yeah it's where a lot of wear is, but again just buy another bcg if your bolt sheers

So now you've spent 2/3rds or more of the price of a nice bolt, had to worry a lot more about cleaning and lubing it, and you've had your rifle out of action for weeks.

I'm not here telling anyone not to buy an ACOG. It's a great prism scope. All I'm saying is, spending a little more on your BCG to get maximal reliability even in the shittiest conditions with the least maintenance time, isn't necessarily a bad idea.

Love it. Probably weighs what, 5lbs or less? Beautiful.

>If I can change the gas block to a low profile one, I can just attack flip up irons, correct? Maybe I need to retool these choices to work right after being assembled.
You should just buy the BCM 14.5" bfh elw with mcmr. Dont buy a FSB upper if you dont want a FSB.

This. It's a pain in the ass to do yourself or you can pay a smith.
Much simpler to get the BCM upper with the MCMR
