Is the Air Force a good idea to join Jow Forums?
I want to serve in the army, but the other branches do not attract my attention. What should I know about the air force? I would like to flight but I have a very fucked up eyes (I use glasses)

If you want to join the chair force and be a file clerk, that's cool bruh. Paperwork is dangerous.
Checked
But the Chair Force is basically a desk job. You have to jump through hoops to become a pilot (A bachelor's degree, officer's school/ROTC/AF Academy, vision cannot be worse than 20/70, etc).
Like much of the military, the high-speed stuff isn't as common as it's cracked up to be.
>Wants to fly
>Glasses
I know this feel. Psure you're supposed to have correctible 20/20 vision. The military will pay for your LASIK procedure, but A) you're going to be on that list FOREVER, because EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER wants to be a pilot of *something*, and B) You gotta be an officer, meaning you need a degree in something.
I wish you luck and do not envy you.
YOU WON'T FLY.
Buddy of mine was chair force at Nellis. Was in the personnel office.
Most of the guys that he served with wanted to be Top Guns, but the closest most of them got was aircraft technicians... and runway maintenance.
He told me you're better off going navy if you want to fly shit.
You'll need a bachelor's degree to fly in the Air Force. Generally expect jobs to be less physically labor intensive but more planning logistics and problem solving. Periods of high ops tempo followed by long periods of low tempo. Don't expect to get shooting qualed every year unless your security forces or sof or some other direct combat related field, I've only qualed 3 times in 13 years. Eye sight may or may not disqualify you from flying that's up to the flight physician.

I hope that being an autistic dumbass It does not stop me from working there.
Jesus, I'm realy fucked up.
Really*
To fly you need 4 things:
>correctable vision
>bachelor's degree or more
>your pilots license with experience
>connections
Air Force is by far the best choice unless you really want to be a grunt. It's also the hardest to get into and you're very unlikely to be given the job you want.
If by "fly" you mean "pilot," it's not going to happen. If you mean enlisted aircrew, then you have a chance.
The majority of AF enlisted are mechanics and security forces. Mechanics work long shifts doing physical labor, and security forces guard gates and jets, and sometimes go outside the wire. Desk jockeys are the minority.
>connections
Ignore this, this is retarded.
Yes. Best branch go combat control and be a certified bad ass
If you want to be an officer yeah, they have the best officer culture whole family except me were airforce officers, outside of mechanics though i'm not really sure what the enlisted do? Pick their noses and scratch their asses I guess?
You know they're starving for pilots right? Connections are not needed in this day and age. Although it doesn't hurt
Current AF inflight refueled here. Most everything is waiverable, talk to a recruiter and request to be a 1A0 or 1A2.
Waiting for meps to approve my waiver for lower back injury, any idea how long it will take? Or if I will get approved?
Waivers can take up to a year maybe a little longer, could be sooner though. It's the government man it takes time. Hard to say whether or not you'll get through
Airforce is cool been in for 12 yrs. Just show up to work a few mins early pass your pt test and plan a bbq every year. Do that and you'll be ahead of 90% of the people you work with.
