I'd like to get in to hunting but I have absolutely no interest in eating the meat, keeping the pelt/hide, or generally doing anything other than just hunting the animal.
Besides Hog hunting, is this generally frowned upon?
I just want to go shoot a deer and then give it to someone to do with as they please.

I'd probably eat the meat but I wouldn't want to gut it or anything like that. I have no problem seeing beheading videos or pretty much any rekt/gore shit, but actually disemboweling an animal would probably make me sick.

I'd donate the animal to a butcher or some shit, or pay to have it cut up by a butcher and then given to a food shelter or something.

Most processors I know of will take a carcass and process it for free if it is a donation. Goes to a good cause. Myself and others use it in cases where we use more tags than expected / have freezer space for. Just be sure to check around or call whatever Dept. manages hunting licenses. They should point you in the right direction.

Hoping you boys could point me in the right direction here. My father and grandfather's didn't hunt so I never had anyone to teach me. I want to try squirrel and rabbit hunting. Shooting a small animal in the head with a .22 seems fairly straightforward. Obviously I can learn how to skin it on YouTube.

Is it as straightforward as getting a hunting license, going in the woods during the season, shoot some tree rats, throw them in a bag, bring them home and eat them?

May want to see if your Game Comission offers free beginner courses thatll introduce you to hunting. PA requires a safety course so I had to, but it had some useful information

A DEER processing company is a butcher that specializes in venison.

You bring the carcass and they do the work.
You may have to field dress the deer or you may not.
Expect an extra charge if they do everything.
Get it into processing within a couple of hours if it is warm weather.
Maybe you should just try target shooting like 3gun or bullseye pistol.
I like to just shoot.
Deer are so prolific where I live that there isn't much of a challenge to hunting.
Coyotes though are are a worthy hunt.

You can always donate the meat. My state had a pretty robust venison donation program that feeds tons of people. If you just want to hunt for the challenge and let the meat go to waste, yeah don’t do that shit.

It's really frowned upon. I wanted to kill an animal and give it to a girl I like. What level of you having to process it seems to be a pretty big difference like you can't just drag the corpse onto her door step ring the bell and run away. You have to package it somehow. Everyone says it's fucked up to do that but if it were that pile of meat and a pelt in a nice gift wrapped box or something it's okay. It just doesn't seem right to process it otherwise they don't know you went out and killed that thing for them or something though.
