Hey Jow Forums let's get a nice prepping thread going. Think out of the box: What useful items/skills are often overlooked?
Prepping general
I'll start: Get some paraffin wax:
>inexpensive
>light source
>heat source
>easy storage
Get a few kg of paraffin wax and some wick and you can make candles to heat cans and have grid independend lighting.
Another one to get the thread going:
Sewing. This would be an ideal skill for a female family member. If SHTF your clothes WILL get fucked up. Even just from the manual labor you have to do. Having the means to fix a torn set of pants is pure gold in these situations.
Forgot pic. Very useful stuff.
The worst thing about prepper culture is a large component of them think the following:
>Ima' go "bug out" inna woods and live off the land for as long as needed.
>Ima' start a survival garden and live off my garden.
Preparation should be in three tiers:
1. What do you need that you can carry on yourself? This ranges from what's in your pocket to what you can have in a backpack.
2. What will you need that you can transport. Typically these are bulkier items that can fit in a trunk of a vehicle.
3. What do you need in your home that is large, bulky, can be stockpiled, but difficult to easily transport?
Start with tier 1 and proceed from there.
Toilet paper.
Making paper.
pioneer skills
>canning
>make soap
>tanning
>basic butchery
>root cellar
>animal 'husbandry' kek
>milking/ butter/ cheese making
its a start
I agree. Except I skip 1 and 2 because I live in germany and bug out is no option here. You can find a house in every direction if you walk half a mile here.
This guy knows whats up. Especially canning is a skill that will not only benefit you but is a skill that you can provide to others for a share of the food.
You are assuming there will not be a situation where you will need to leave your home (or region) unexpectedly.
No I don't. I have family in italy. They are farmers in the mountains and almost self sustaining (a lot of different food productions). If I have to bug out, I have an appartment there.
>What useful items/skills are often overlooked?
hair removal cream
anal bleach
quiche making
crochet
knitting
artificial insemination of livestock
cobbling
violin making
injection moulding quality assurance
advanced crptography
psychiatrists who can work with anxiety disorders
Items
Ottoman foot rests
Fez hats
Silk pyjamas
Humidors
Hair curlers
Tinsel
Alphabet fridge magnets
social anxiety and generalised anxiety mod stabilisers
thanks for the bac/k/ up
I appreciate the effort to be funny. Knitting is a useful skill though.
Honestly I feel like prepping is practical but at the same time a way for people with money to justify spending it on shit they will never use
You can make a case for needing X, then you can make a case for always needing more of X and Y also. The tunnel never ends
Like this guy Why the fuck would you waste your money on "silk pyjamas" and some specific kind of fucking footrest? Lmao
You can be prepared and not waste a single dollar. If you plan your food storage right you won't ever have to throw anything away and most skills don't require any money and are useful/fun to learn in day to day life.
Skills
-Animal husbandry
-Construction
-Fire building
-Foraging
-Gardening
-Land navigation
-Trapping
-Water purification
Car breaks down half way.
>You can make a case for needing X, then you can make a case for always needing more of X and Y also. The tunnel never ends
This applies to almost everything though. As far as consumerism goes, at least prepping is practical, especially with electric boogaloo coming in the next 30 years.
Yeah sure, lol. Give me a break. You need to spend money to practice that stuff, you're being naive on purpose to try to make it sound like it isn't a materialistic passion most people have
I'll "aquire" a new one. I am a Jow Forumsommando in a continent of nogunz. It's sad for them but if I need to pull out my AR to survive I will.
Prepping is different in europe then in the US. Honestly if you don't have any moral inhibitions a gun is all you need.
You sound like a retard.
I understand that some people put a lot of money in it but to say that you have to is wrong. Learning how to can food, grow veggies in your garden, fix damaged clothes or make cheese saves you fucking money. Yes it takes time but these are all fun activities that you can take up as a hobby.
Point out the flaw in my thinking then.
1. It's immoral.
2. It's illegal.
3. Someone could stab or shoot you.
4. All you needed was some basic preps.
What kind of basic preps are going to prevent my car from breaking down? We are talking about SHTF there is no more illegal. Yes it's immoral but if I have to choose between me being stranded with my family in bum fuck nowhere or stealing a car from someone who 80 % chance voted for the destruction of europe in the first place then gunpoint it is.
Those are dumb arguments, laws go out the window in SHTF, and user may not necessarily kill someone for their car, yeah stealing is shitty but if it's real SHTF most others would do the same to you/user, which goes with your 3rd argument,
Your last point is pretty valid, but pretty vague too. But it sounds like Deutchanon is fairly realistic, he doesn't want to bug out but if he has to he has options, and apparently an AR (didn't know those were allowed in Germany?)
He sounds like a faggot.
>be the real world instead of anons delusional SHTF fantasies
>steal things at gunpoint whenever he needs something instead of trading or making it himself
>Survivors remember him
>tell other survivors about him
>every local town, commune, group of survivors, or gang that trades with each other or shares news or anything will kill him on sight
Unless literally everybody but you and 10 other people in the world are dead this makes zero fucking sense. Other people will be armed, they will outnumber you, and stories of your behavior will eventually catch up with you and get you killed.
We can have pretty much everything that you Ameribros can have except with huuuge paperwork. I also have a Glock 17 and a Mossberg 590 (and some fudd guns).
Yes you definitely put it like I meant it. Obviously wouldn't kill anyone.
This isn't Skyrim where everyone has magically heard of you
Did you even read my posts? I have preps at home and am well prepared to bug in. This whole conversation started because some user critizised me for not being prepared to bug out if absolutely necessary. I said I had a place to go and he said "what if car breaks down" and in this case I will obviously steal one. What the fuck am I to do otherwise? And yes I'm sure the one guy whose car I stole will hunt me down in a remote mountain town hundreds of miles aways. Get a grip.
I guess that faggot is just helping to ID people like him. I'll be sure to torture people like him if such an occasion occurs.
>I will obviously steal one. What the fuck am I to do otherwise?
You will be in the first wave of plebs to die. Just have the decency to not beg for mercy.
I'd like to see you in a real SHTF situation. "Guess my family has to die today!! Can't hurt anybody!"
Have you ever wondered where people get their shitbag radar?
Medical instruments. What happens if someone around you needs a tooth pulled?
Rubbing alcohol, iodine, hydrogen peroxide.
Also everyone should have a silver dollar. Pure silver. In a pinch, silver will kill many pathogens in water.
Been there. Done that.
We're not in ye olde days of incandescent bulbs any more. It's extremely easy to nigger rig candle-grade DC lighting, and if you have a basic solar setup you'll hardly notice a difference for about ten years.
That's my suggestion. Extremely basic electronics and electrical systems.
The dullards who return things to Amazon because of a bent battery contact will trade you useful items for nothing and you'll be living like the fucking Omega Man.
All good recommendations except the silver dollar in water. That doesn't work, the silver needs to be ionized to be antibacterial. Silver coins are excellent for bartering though.
>And yes I'm sure the one guy whose car I stole will hunt me down in a remote mountain town hundreds of miles aways. Get a grip.
You're just making it clearer and clearer that you're deluded and incapable of evaluating basic risk reward situations. They're going to tell people who are going to tell people who are going to tell other people. With no news or region level trade interpersonal networks are going to be how people inform each other and do business with each other. He isn't going to hunt you down, he's gonna call or radio his cousin two towns over in the direction you were headed who's gonna tell the local whoever's in charge right now that's running the town roadblock(to keep out shit head raiders like you) what car you're driving. Then you're gonna get shot full of holes when you drive up or surrender like a little bitch and get hung off a lamp post in main street.
You might get away with it once or twice if shits really chaotic but "lmao just threaten/shoot people if i need something" is going to get you dead real quick real fast in a serious SHTF situation.
Medical and Dental books as said.
Next consider growing operations. Thing is that you shouldnt consider outside or sunlight as an 100% available option. Indoor growing instructions, low power LED grow lamps, battery and bike generator. Vietcong used it to power normal wattage light bulbs and radios underground. Learn from history.
Why I suggest this is you cannot trust solar or wind power is available in some scenarios like Ashland level or increased cloud cover. Also in cases you dont want to be noticed from the outside due to raiding or other external threats.
Know your food requires per amount of energy you and your family can produce. Same with hand/bike cranking shells/kernals to make future cooking oil.
You're not going to power a fucking grow operation from bikes, you retard. If that was possible you'd be seeing gigantic hamster-powered free energy plants outside every fucking city.
You can rely on wind/solar/waterwheel in every scenario where survival is possible.
Thanks for the added insult without any cause micro-penis user. Talking newer age LED and some have been adapted to USB power for single plants. Amperage for the electronics side of it is of course a concern but the technology is going much further than it used it be in last 5 years.
Silver dollar would work to an extent. People used to put them in their milk bottle to prevent spoilage. Same way they use copper door knobs at hospitals because it kills germs on contact. I imagine a solution of ions has much higher surface area and would work better though.
Is there a way I can make it?
>Amperage for the electronics side of it is of course a concern
Don't just slap random words together that sound good. Current is the least of the concerns here, it is in fact a non-issue. The main issue is it's fucking retarded to pedal a bike when rivers, wind, and sunlight exist.
Did you not even read my post in It's 5 up. Basically saying why outside attention might be bad like sound from a wind turbine or solar might not be available.
Simple green and bleach should be in your preps as well. You wont be washing as much and simple green is good for lots of contaminates. Bleach can be used in water but isnt as good for a pure scrubdown of people or surfaces.

This is a good skill for anyone. In addition to fixing clothes, sewing applies to leather work and first aid.
I restitched a Hunter cowboy holster I got for next to nothing. An hours worth of work and it’s like new.
Yes, I read it and you're an idiot. Pedalling a bike underground for 12 hours a day for the rest of your life is not a viable option. If you're camped out next door to Lord Humungous you don't dig in, you get on your fucking bike and go somewhere else.
Is krautanon going to leave his Id with everyone he robs? If it’s really shtf time no one is going to care! It’s going to be chaos.
Do what you have to Deutschbro.
The fuck, nigger. We already got one up.
Cobbling could be useful
fuck off dude, my thread is way better than that one
Thanks for the impersonation.
