As the title of the thread suggests, I live in a cucked state and want a semi automatic rifle. I'm seriously considering pic related, a "sporterized" saiga type AK. However, obongo joobjoobjaboob mkumbe, our previous president, did that gay shit with an executive order which ceased imports of these from Russia, as I'm sure you're all aware. Supposedly the American branch of Kalashnikov now operates independently of the Russian one and they made these for a while; however, I checked their website earlier and didn't see anything like this on there, and the guns they had on the site were very expensive.
So, there are three options I'm considering- finding a saiga that was imported, which is probably more expensive than it would have been before obongo joobjoobjaboob mkumbe (I like that phrase- I'm gonna use it whenever I can) fucked over the import of Russian weapons. Perhaps very expensive by now. My other option is finding an american made version, but a few jewgle searches haven't turned up any current production traditional rifle stock AK's. My third option, would be to see if there are parts kits that allow me to make such a rifle.
Which of these options is feasible, and which is most affordable? If this doesn't work out, then I guess I'm getting an SCR. But I would have preferred the saiga, because I figure 7.62x39 would be better for shooting deer with.
Get one of Lee Armory's sporter AK rifles. They're really good quality with a well made american barrel. They smooth the actions out pretty well and are generally well educated AK builders. They don't have any ban state features and they use really nice looking wood furniture. All the parts are forged and etc.

get a Vepr in .308

hell, 54r or .223, whatever you can get the most of.

By sporterized if you mean a shortened barrel, I recommend you don't do that. The trend of short rifle barrels seems nonsensical to me. Less accuracy, more muzzle blast, less velocity.

Cheapest, best option in ALL ban states: M1 garand.
If you want to be a poorfag, just get a rack-grade and be done with it.
If you're more interested in making it into the real-deal: get a .308 barrel, chop it down to tanker size, and see if you can legally allow it to accept box mags, and then you're good.

No, I mean a traditional long arm stock- no pistol grip. Thumb hole stocks don't count, that's also a scary assault feature. I'm also not allowed to have a flash hider or flash suppressor, of any kind, on my rifle. And of course I can only have 10 round magazines... I really want this shit overturned, but that's probably not going to happen any time soon. They seem to have one model of what I'm looking for. It's a thousand bucks, so I'm not going to make that decision just yet; but I am considering it. Do they make Vepr's with a traditional stock? Thumb hole stocks are assault features here.

Five comments and nobody recommended the original forest cryptid blaster, the SKS

OP, are you in California?

>Do they make Vepr's with a traditional stock? Yes. And there's no reason to not have one retro-fitted later on.
