>be me
>find my holy grail historical rifle
>really good price
>really good quality
>vendor says they won't ship
>try to talk to them and figure out a compromise
>radio silence
>mfw
what the fuck, do these fuckers just expect to sell it to someone in their fucking state? COME ON!
Fuck all you no shipping bastards
>contact FFL dealer in that area
>can you stock a holy grail historical rifle for me? will pay a consignment fee
>there happens to be one in your area
inb4 hurr durr it r a kyoor-e-oh and rehlik u no need FFL!
dude that's the thing, he didn't respond and it's been a couple of days so I figured he just wasn't interested. tho maybe he's just been busy with halloween and all that and I'm just sperging, I dunno.
But I just sent him an email outlining a plan to purchase it, offering 10% more. Basically goes like this.
>He takes it to an FFL near him
>I call them and confirm they have it
>I wire him the money via routing through the bank
>He confirms he received the money
>FFL ships to my FFL
I honestly don't know how someone would not do this, though maybe he's just super fucking weird I dunno. Seriously pisses me off though.
he's probably just really lazy. you would be doing the rest of the world a favor by looking elsewhere and letting him lose an opportunity. really more people should be doing that to shitty gun stores. vote with your wallet and let bad business decisions have their effect
It's a private vendor is the thing, so maybe he doesn't want to drive at all or do anything really. Oh well, fingers crossed he just didn't get back to me because he had shit going on. But he was really prompt with the first response so yeah.
I blame Kentucky, his state.
just think about this for a moment.
YOU are trying hard to give this guy your money.
dumb frogposter
yeah, I wanna give him the $550 he's asking for a rifle that's worth $1200 on the market and literally priceless to me.
What is it?
A .308 Israeli K98k built in 1938 with the waffenamt/eagle stamps and the star of david/hebrew stamps on the receiver.
rifle was present through the entire second world war and was one of the first rifles into Israel. Just an insane amount of history, and it's a fucking .308 K98. Just god damn.
I know that feel, OP.
>several years ago
>fleetfarm is selling their Saiga 5.45 rifles for $350-400 a pop to get rid of them
>call the store
>guy says they can’t ship to an FFL
>talk to manager
>same answer
>bet the store manager and make my case
>lol sorry bud, hey have someone up here buy it then pay them for it
It was brutal.
holy shit user how did you find that
there's about 4-6 thousand of them, or at least that was the first shipment into the region that would become Israel by the proto-IDF as they were trying to get around the British blockade. So if this doesn't work out I'm confident I'll be able to find another one. But yeah, all other K98 shipments into Israel after that one the receivers were properly milled so the German stamps were removed. Then of course after that the Czechs started just manufacturing them. But yeah, there's about 6000 that look like pic related. Look at that shit. A fucking war eagle, right next to a star of david. The rise and fall of the third reich in a single rifle
not very knowledgeable on the topic but damn does that photo make my peepee hard
dude.....yeah. I want it so fucking bad. I'm absolutely obsessed with this rifle. Even without the history it's amazing. A k98 in 7.62 nato/308. The best bolt action rifle ever made chambered in a modern and awesome round. I'm tempted to get one even if it isn't ideal with all the markings I want, just so I can have it and shoot it. Then still keep my eyes open for the perfect one.
Did you type all this to him too? Did you explain why you're so interested in it and the history? Maybe he's just unsure about parting with it himself.
nah, I honestly don't want to impose. Basically I sent him the message saying I was interested and wanted to see the markings on the receiver. He sent me a bunch of pictures of it. I said I wanted to buy it and was obsessed with the rifle but live a ways a way and would need it shipped and wanted to figure out a way to do that that would make him comfortable, and he didn't write back. That was 2 days ago. I just sent him this about an hour ago and we'll see if he responds. Though I'm guessing he is just too afraid of a scam or whatever, who knows, and he just doesn't want to ship the rifle and wants to do a face to face. But there's no way for me to do that.
Again, it's all good. This is the second one I've seen just in the last few months so I'm confident they'll keep turning up for cheap (first one was sold in an auction a couple of months before I found out about this rifle and became obsessed). So yeah, if it doesn't work out this time it's not the end of the world. Though there's part of me that's worried that as time goes on they're just going to get more and more expensive, but I'm trying to stay optimistic.
check dem rifle dubz
Move out of your cucked state.
Oregon is nice desu. It's not my fault the seller lives in fucking Kentucky
Yeah, good plan, point out why the rifle he's happy to sell for $550 is worth over a grand. Then he won't back out for sure!
