There's a reason our rifle has hundreds of derivatives
Dumb bitch!
Gott mit uns!

I'll give the lebel some love. Got mine all matching and excellent 1889 manufacture a few years ago for like $850 at a gun show. Shoots pretty nice and fun to load. Prices on them have gone up a lot and I see them for 1000+ a lot. Thanks for bringing smokeless powder into the game and saving the environment.

A better french rifle coming through.

Is it safe to say the mosin nagant derived from the lebel? Same tapered rimmed round and extractor design and similar bolt cock on open design and similar sights

A lot of french elements do look like they carried over to the Mosin. Honestly the mosin doesn't know if it wants to be a mannlicher or a magazine fed gun, as the follower looks like it was designed to push cartridges up from a clip.

Swiss vetterli is better

lol wut? the only lebel derived parts are the barrel design and i guess the rear sight on the early mosins before they upgraded the sights around 1908(?), any other resemblance was not a first from the lebel or even the gras which the lebel borrows its cocking piece from

also 7.62x54R is hardly tapered, 8x50R is 13.8mm at the base because they just necked down 11mm Gras while 7.62x54R is 12.4mm at the base and they probably based it off 8x52R Mannlicher

Love my R35

Go make that fucking G11 video, Ian.

french military is best in europe. germans are faggots.

First Google result for "Mauser"
You better not be holding out on me, OP.

Why were the Berthier sights never revisited? The post 1915 version on the left in pic related seems like they would be great for allowing fast sight acquisition while still allowing for precise long range shots since they have that nice notch to mark the center of the sight for you.

Nice, prices on those have gone up as well. 1886 m93s five years ago were like $600 then went up to $800 like 2 years later and are now in the $1000+ range for good condition ones. Not sure what drove the prices up so fast. I guess they're not imported as much as the mosins or Mausers, but still.

There really aren't enough old military bolt actions with really short barrels out there. I love how sexy they look, in addition to how managable shorter rifles are. I really wish some company would come out with newer rifles styled after old military rifles with 16" barrels and chambered in intermediate calibers so that ammo would be as affordable as milsurp ammo used to be.

>1880s
>Still having a fucking tube mag
>Still having a 90 degree turn bolt
>Still using rimmed cartrages
>Still having the ergos of a tree branch

Get a load of this guy

kingsgate is better but
black powder

*weighs 10 pounds*

what is you guys obsession with these shitty old guns? they are obsolete and belong in a museum at this point. you can get an ar15 for $300 that will do literally anything better than any of these guns

Attached: 1376539958548.jpg (594x595, 71K)

My safe is a museum at this point

I imagine it was easier, cheaper, and faster to take a hammer and notch a small channel in a thick front sight post than it is to form that blade

Imagine a Lebel clone in .45-70 or .357 or something. I would never stop shooting it

I really wish someone would do this for most french military rifles.

I just wish lebel ammo was more commercially made and available. Same with Jap ammo

Yeah but not that one.

"Franz, come look at zis, look"
"Vas? Vas ist der Frenchie doing?"
"He has been loading silly tube on das gewehr for 30 minuten now!"
"Hahahaha! Vat a horrible gewehr!"
"Hhahaha, let's shoot him now!"

*loads en bloc charger in 2 secs*
*shoots dumbass frenchie wearing bright red pants and loading a tube for 30 minutes*

OP here. For all of you faggots who thought it was funny to post you're fucking mausers here gtfo. You are so fucking salty that a Frenchman created the first smokeless powder gun in existence. Lebels have levels of class that mausers can only dream of having. To all of you participating in WHAT THIS TREAD WAS MEANT FOR, thank you.

The lebel was the best gun in the world for 2 years (until the Mauser 88) but the worst for 2 world wars.

>Mauser 88
The what?

Tube fed, extreme taper having, black powder adapted ass bitch. Btfo by everyone else in WWI's rifles because they were in such a hurry to get smokeless in a gun, they didn't stop to design a good gun or cartridge for it. Only thing lebel had was the very brief novelty/edge of being smokeless. The gun was no technolgical breakthrough, simply a clumsy application of a revolution in chemistry.

Attached: mauser 88.jpg (1732x278, 31K)

literally no one posted their mauser you retard, there's just 2 that posted a google result hoping for what you promised in the OP
once you're done with those 2, finish with yourself.

Have an m95 because even with all the issues that gun had it was worlds ahead of the lebel in design. En Bloc boi

>mauserfags
come back when you have a rifle that can win a war

Attached: hon hon hon.jpg (4032x3024, 3.89M)

That's a different rifle though, we aren't saying all French service rifles are shit and worse than the Mauser is, but the lebel is

And yet no world wars won
>inb4 muh juiws

No Lebel, though I have a Berthier that ended up a Turkish Forestry Service carbine.

Its also nice to be in a thread where its not called "8mm Labelle"

Attached: TLebProof.jpg (1558x1018, 209K)

same to you, frenchie. find a buddy with a garand to help u out

Does anyone know where to find a repro lebel sling? All the ones marked lebel I've seen online are berthier sounds. I bought a vg lebel recently, but its missing a sling and has an aftermarket front sight. Cost $350 though so I'm not complaining.

Going to sleep now. Smell you later, fuckers.

>tfw you got yours for $500 at a pawn shop
Front sight blade is missing though. It's been surprisingly hard to find one. Bore is almost pristine and it's a 1894 Tulle.

... And that's a good thing!
>that pleasant *thunk* when closing the bolt with a loaded mag

Liberty tree is where I got mine with a brass buckle for about $25. Not sure if they still have those though.

Germany+some autists vs literally the rest of the world
hmmmmm...
