Big boy armies actually train in a multitude of climates and terrains so it's no surprise they get rekt when A) in a terrain they don't usually train in and B) are against a force that trains in that terrain all year round and has done for decades.

We had only one hole "balaclavas" that I used only when I had stuffed my wool hat somewhere and even then I mostly used it as hat. Two hole balaclava would be nice for people with glasses.
Even ncos and officers were jägers where I served.
It is not only a rank in some parts of finland.
They're basically coastal infantry, a bit more specialized than regular jägers but by no means "elite" (unless you ask them, then sure, they're super elite).
