No

I've met some marine intel guys. They were pretty knowledgeable and squared away.

>t. Army

The Marines score far higher than the Army on the ASVAB and go on to do pretty impressive things post service. The Army however can be found in your local VA regional clinic claiming sleep apnea and bad lower back to get on the government gibs.

Attached: armystrong.jpg (1023x763, 109K)

No. Anyone who brags about being first into combat is fucking dumb. You have been propagandized into being the first guy through the door, and getting blown up/shot/PTSD.

With how high taxes are do you blame them?

Literally no one thinks Baghdad was an impressive feat son. If you think being in Baghdad first was a big deal you are showing your lack of knowledge on how things were back then. Try Fallujah, Haditha,Ramadi (in some areas)

>Try Fallujah
Oh, that other thing the muhreens royally fucked up until the Army came to smooth it all out?
>Literally no one thinks Baghdad was an impressive feat son.
Except Mattis and friends were so salty they relieved dowdy of his command for failure to force his muhreens through a shooting galley.

Ok you are literally retarded and after this you will receive no (You)'s from me. The entire reason there was a second clearing of Fallujah was because it was turned over to the Army and the Army let it fester and become a safe zone for Hadjis. The Army is full of inner city niggers and trailer trash. Some day you will realize just how pathetic they are/were and maybe then you can see GWOT with clear eyes boot.

Kids probably think that way.

>The entire reason there was a second clearing of Fallujah was because it was turned over to the Army and the Army let it fester and become a safe zone for Hadjis.
good job stopping the use of air power because "that's too army lol" and getting a handful of contractors mutilated/killed alongside a handful of marines the very next day. You plebs didn't even retake the city. Shall I get started on the wonderful fuck ups of the muhreens in Najaf?

>In fact the Marine Corps was nearly legislated out of existence two years later. After the bureaucratic infighting that characterized inter-service relations during WW II, there was a strong desire among military professionals to unify the military commands. President Truman agreed, and in 1946 his administration proposed a bill to unify the separate service bureaucracies.
>Having one budgetary authority for the Armed Forces, and one chain of command each for land forces, ships, and aircraft makes sense. But this would have placed the US Navy at a distinct disadvantage. The Navy had their own air wings aboard their carriers, and their own army, the Marine Corps.
>The Navy and Marine Corps were determined to scuttle this legislation. Marine generals created a secret office code named the Chowder Society to lobby behind the scenes, (in opposition to their President and Commander in Chief), and thwart the unification bill before Congress. The Commandant of the Marine Corps even made an impassioned speech before Congress to plead for his separate service.

>It worked. Congress rejected the Truman administration’s unification bill, and instead passed the National Security Act of 1947. This Act guaranteed separate services, with their own independent budgets, and was a victory for the Navy and Marine Corps.
>In addition, the Marines succeeded in having their separate force structure written into the language of the legislation. It is very unusual for Congress to dictate the actual composition of a military service. Yet the National Security Act mandates that the Marines Corps must maintain “not less than three combat divisions and three aircraft wings and such land combat, aviation, and other services as necessary to support them“.
>President Truman was furious, and military professionals were appalled. General Eisenhower characterized the Marines as “being so unsure of their value to their country that they insisted on writing into the law a complete set of rules and specifications for their future operations and duties. Such freezing of detail…is silly, even vicious.”

Guess the Army got tired of being shown up and tried to just get rid of the competition.

Is that why the Army carried out the largest amphibious landings in history?

user...You mean Okinawa?

No, I mean Normandy. Besides, the Army had more divisions assaulting Okinawa than the Marines.

Attached: 200.gif (200x200, 858K)

There was a time when new recruits had to take IQ tests. I'm not sure what, if any, was the cutoff.

user.. Overlord had more individuals involved but they include the numbers of paratroopers, naval personnel and then finally those landing on the beaches.

Okinawa was a far larger amphibian assualt. Also, you are retarded because you don't understand the difference in command structure between the Army and the Marine Corps. Marines far far far far outnumbered any personnel from the Army.

>Tenth Army had over 102,000 soldiers (of these 38,000+ were non-divisional artillery, combat support and HQ troops, with another 9,000 service troops),[1] over 88,000 Marines and 18,000 Navy personnel (mostly Seabee and medical personnel).[1] At the start of Battle of Okinawa Tenth Army had 182,821 men under its command.

Face it. All of you were retarded enough to join the military.

This is like watching retards argue over who has a higher IQ.

>Everyone on Jow Forums is in the military

Remember the paint goes on the walls not in your mouth

So the Army had 55,000 people there once you remove the support personnel from the ordeal and they came ashore after the Marine Corps had already pushed inland. user.. just...

Attached: kekteeth.jpg (983x983, 113K)

Sweetie...marines took quadruple the casualties per block cleared in Fallujah. Refusing to wait 5 minutes for the tanks to catch up and clear with HEAT got a lot of crayon eaters killed.

I love when losers try and shit on the USMC. Do you not realize that the USMC has the longest and most intensive training of all the branches??? Every Marine is a rifleman ready for combat regardless of their job. What other branch can say that????? Oh yea that's right fucking NONE OF THEM.

They were reactivated a couple years back.

Was reestablished in 2009'ish under MARSOC and then they were renamed to Raiders in 2014'ish I think

Someone cap this. The 30 yr old boomer meme is so accurate it's astounding, I always though when did this it was exaggerated but I guess it's right on.

Unironically thank you for your service and for confirming our memes.

>You are arty and you didn't do shit
I guess Artillery aka KING OF THE FUCKING BATTLEFIELD don't mean anything these days? Looks like the USMC gone's soft since I got out.

>How much of that ate up your two years in?
You never stop training in the USMC retard. We treat everyday like game day, you army twats will never understand this

bunch of salty army fags in this thread, have fun never getting to wear that EGA and getting all the hot bitches

omg boomer.

I have called for arty before while I was in TIC's and I appreciate it but picking up your fucking arty round and placing it in a metal tube doesn't make you a bad ass.

Your "I SERVED" hat is too tight.

that's your gear list to account for all your serialized rifle stuff and cleaning kit pieces.
Thats week 1 after receiving. Hold anything out for minutes and you'll drop it. It's funny though and humiliating

Marines have always thought of themselves as reasonably intelligent and respectable.

Literally only soldiers think the army is cool
For good reason

actualy i think it does. thats a fact retard

Okay, well someone run down to the various manufacturing plants around here that require the same skills and let them know they are salt dogs.

I know this was a troll thread with the sole intent of creating the shitstorm this ended up being, but I'm here to tell you that every branch has it's absolute fucking retards and it's borderline geniuses.

The mix when I was in was probably about:
15% retards
65% average joes
15% above average guys
5% holy shit what are you doing here you should be a surgeon or rocket scientist fellas

When I interacted with the Army or Navy? The same shit. Mostly average guys with a smattering of retards and geniuses.

Hell yeah DEVIL DOGS, whose ready for our birthday on the 10th!?!

My guess is going to be WW2. High public support for the war, and the sheer number of respectable people who enlisted out of a sense of duty after the Japanese attacks, made it one of the most respectable times to be any military man, Marines included. Before and after, fighting men tended much more to be the total dregs of society.

What about WW1 and The Boxer Rebellion?

You have it backwards. During conflict where they have high turnover and need bodies they take in more retards. This is across the board.
Back in the day during peace time pretty much everyone was there because they wanted to be, it's not like you had fancy benefits then. So retards would be pushed out as the forces were much smaller and more selective then until the next big war

I was thinking about WW1 but I wasn't quite sure how popular of a war it was, especially considering just how many Germans there were in the US. The British and French seemed to not think highly of the Marine's intelligence too.
I don't pretend to be any sort of expert, but the "standard" military enlisted man seems to be "guy who did below-average in high school and doesn't want to be a janitor at the age of 19". After Pearl Harbor, I imagine you got plenty of college kids and tradesmen and so on who felt compelled to abandon their higher pursuits in favor of defending freedom. No sources on any of this and I'm happy to be disproved, but I seem to recall that there were a ton of college degreed American soldiers in WW2

>I'm happy to be disproved, but I seem to recall that there were a ton of college degreed American soldiers in WW2
Nah, back in the 40's it was somewhat unusual to have a college degree in most career fields (it simply wasn't needed back then). It wasn't until we exported all the decently paying manufacturing jobs overseas that everyone started going to college after high school just to survive.

In conflict, people who want conflict join up.
In peacetime, garrison deters people who are good at their jobs.

So really it's not a smart/retard filter. Peace selects for mediocrity, war selects for a broader sample.

My cousins was a marine and works for google now. He’s probably the most successful person in our family. Jus sayin

Times have changed and now it's a way to better yourself if you use the benefits afforded you but back in the day it was passionate people who actually wanted to do good things. The pay has never been good and it was historically a shit alternative to a normal life for family and finances.
Now it's a decent living and super easy with some great benefits so you get people who are there for entirely selfish reasons who later find they won't function well in normal society so they stay.
Plus the US military is fucking huge now whereas before ww2 it wasn't really outstanding.
Nowadays lots of retards stay but back then they had no reason to

Chesty seems pretty unfuckwithable.

Attached: chesty.png (420x420, 449K)

I love that man.

No.

BOOB RAH, GIT SUM DEVILED EGG

So how many support personnel did the Marines have there?

Or do you honestly buy in to the ERRYMURHEENARUFFLEMAN meme?

Weren't they the ones who couldn't make the cut to get in to JSOC or was all that just politics?

I was an 0811 deployed to Kajaki. My battery was left by ourselves in our AO. We secured our own fob, fired our own mortars and howitzers, built our own patrol bases, worked with the local police and ANP guys, and performed our own patrols and raids.

I'm not claiming to be a grunt or any kind of high-speed ricky, but claiming that no one in arty ever does anything is patently false and just strokes your grunt ego. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Do marines still keep little shrines to Chesty with candles and incense in their barracks rooms?

No, they chose not to integrate with JSOC because they didnt want to give up autonomy. muhreens are proud like that.

“The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!”

-Eleanor Roosevelt

>hundreds of available MOSes
>grunt couldn't qualify for any of them
>still looks down on POGs because muh "every marine is a rifleman"

Attached: 1537850761908.png (301x251, 106K)

lol no

The grunt is too proud to avoid falling for really obvious bait. He's not going to change but you know what? It's all good cuz that's all he's got

Smart? No, but then again smart people dont generally run off an join any branch.
Respectable, sure, how else do we keep them running off to join the marines.

>sleep apnea and bad lower back to get on the government gibs.
If the govt can fuck me, I can fuck them right back.

You sound like you'll be a real success in life

My training was 2 1/2 years before reaching the Fleet.
t. nuc

Nah, most of the people that go infantry do so willingly. The "non-qualifiers" get stuck into water and fuel positions. Scored a 96 on the ASVAB and I still joined infantry. Got sort of voluntold to be an 0352, though.

Trying to be reasonable? On my Jow Forums?

No fucking way that's an actual marine, the bdu isn't even the right size

It probably is but they're definitely getting separated and probably made to do the most bullshit work.
With people like this they usually say it's a medical issue and so make lots of medical trips then get shit on and can't handle the shit thrown their way every day for being useless and fat...
Fattest marine I've personally seen was like that and being fucked with until the paperwork went through

Dunno. Some admin types might be able to become that big.

Attached: fat marine.jpg (477x640, 48K)

Find more pictures of obese Marines. There's a few specific ones that people circulate. Army in general is fat as fuck especially among staff ncos. They just so their bike for the apft and stay fat. It blows my mind desu

Not without getting kicked out. But if they say it's a medical issue then medical has to prove that it's bullshit and their diet sucks. In the end depending on how much they suck and how much time they got left they either force them to prove it and then fuck em up for lying or let them separate but make their life suck until then
Especially for first termers

Atleast you admit you are a fraud.

Who's baiting? is my post and completely and unironically factual.
