Just bought a GP-5
>New filter
>Real cheap but original
>No holes
>Fits fine
>Mask and filter for $30
Was it a good deal Jow Forums? I got it at an estate sale of a cold war fanatic. I mean it is just a civilian grade mask so it's nothing fancy but I thought it was pretty cool an cheap compared to some of the other masks I saw.
Did I get a good deal?
Here I'll tell you a good deal.
>get unissued finish mask
>new filter
>some other little addons
>original bag
>$20 something a few years ago
>chucked everything but the bag, it's a nice bag.
That's real, gas masks are useless.
>civilian grade mask
what more could be offered to military
I personally wouldn't trust any surplus mask. I bought an Avon M53 and it's pretty nice.
Good to know, it didn't come with a bag but I will keep my eyes peels, thanks user.
Thanks for the advice, I wasn't really looking into getting a mask I could use, I was more looking for a historical thing I could put up on a stand in my house. But I might get a more modern mask soon. So thanks for the recommendation of the M53
Not bad.. gp5s are usually the cheapest of cheap gas masks. Also make sure your filter isn't dented or damaged in any way (asbestos) otherwise it's fine just don't expect it to save you.
>If only you knew how bad things really are
a pawn shop in christiansburg, VA has 2 with bags
Kek
>$30
this is why poor people stay poor
Make sure you check that the filter doesnt have asbestos in it.
Probably does but it's fine as long as it remains stable. If you bust up the can and particles come loose, then get ready for mesothelioma in 30 years
cheap? i have a box full i paid a buck apiece for.
got a set of 3 for under $20 from centerfire, filters are supposed to be hazardous but the bags are fantastic.
the bag is pretty cool
finn bag is best bag
I would say you just bought a nice new mask for your collection. The GP5 is a decent mask and will probs work fine, the only issue is the filter which contains asbestos and the filters aren't good if you're trying to prep. If you're fine with using something that can harm you that's up to you, but if you're looking for something better I would suggest the avon ct12. You can buy them for just alittle more than a gp5 and you can find filters easily since they use standard nato 40mm. I have a gp5 but am planning on getting a ct12.
I got mine for 20 dollars and found out I was ripped off.
I already said if you're fine with asbestos in your lungs that's on you. for about 50-60 dollars more you can get yourself an extremely comfy and reliable mask that is better in everyway compared to a gp5. I paid maybe 65 for mine so maybe search for better deals instead of buying the first thing you see.
i have good masks i paid next to nothing for at garage sales, saying "a little more" and that you found a deal on one, one time is disingenuous.
