Burris xtr ii 1-5x versus Steiner p4xi 1-4x versus vortex pst Gen II 1-6x?

I like the simplicity of the Steiner reticle but the Burris BDC reticle is a close second minus the horseshoe. The Burris has the best price. The vortex is supposed to be all around good but the reticle is my least favorite and it's also more expensive than the other two.

They are all going to be pretty similar and chasing super tight groups with a tactical 5.56 is kinda dumb. You can expect 1" groups at 100 yards with a BCM and match ammo. All of those should be 1"-1.5" capable with nice ammo.

should I buy a procomp for recoil mitigation? I dont really shoot with anyone else so I'm trying to tame my rifle as much as possible to stay on target easier. I'm wondering if I should just keep my old muzzle brake or change to surefires. thoughts?

I like my XTR II 1-5x. The SupersetCA video basically sold me on it. It has absurdly long eye relief and you need an extended eye relief recon style mount for it to work. Otherwise it's fine. Eyebox at 1x borders on red dot levels it's so generous. It's definitely tight at 5x though. You get out of your sweet spot fairly easy unfortunately. Overall a pretty good optic though. I got mine for $550 new on sale and I've been seeing them crop up for as low as $400 on buy/sell/trade groups.

Depends on what you want.

I built an a2 clone well under 1k out of bushmaster, Windham and original parts and I really like it.

If you want something more modern minus the inevitable optic you’ll add, I’d say get an aero lower with a hiperfire trigger, a barreled bca upper, and then any hand guard and BCG you can afford.

You’ll probably upgrade cheaper parts like the stock, hand guards and grip, but make sure you get a good barrel and trigger.

The Faxon 18-20" barrels in the gunner profile are pretty low barrel whip right? Would going to a heavier profile do much for barrel whip in SPR length rifles or is that mostly for heat? My aim is precision so I'm willing to compromise weight for it.
