How to strengthen a home for maximum SHALL? The best beginning is a good, solid door, heavy hinges, and a sturdier frame. What are some good other ideas, in light of the MD shooting
Fortifying
I bought my most recent home from a SHALL and apparently the front windows are bullet proof. So, that.
What about a shotgun panel that points toward the porch. Like in the ceiling or a wall
Bump
a security door in a heavy ass frame.
a brick facade would really help to stop bullets.
an escape tunnel.
You may not believe me but pea gravel in the cavities of your walls will stop at a minimum up to 30-06. I build a 2x4 plywood box and filled it with pea gravel and dumped an entire 30 rd 5.56 mag into it and then got 6 30-06 rounds into it before the box failed. It wasn't even failure by the bullets passing through. It was failure just because of the force of the rounds impacting knocked the back board off and the pea gravel spilled out.
Hmm. I’m going to be buying my own house fairly soon. First thing I’m doing is replacing the doors with some made out of sweetgum since it’s a strong and dense as fuck wood. I’m trying to make it as hard as possible for *people* to breech
You are retarded if you think you are going to bunker in and defeat a government raid. They will just smoke you out with tear gas or accidentally light the building on fire like they did to Dorner.
Dude you aren't going to defend your home from the fucking government. This isn't Call of Duty. The best you can do is rig the place to blow and kill the cops when they aren't expecting it.
Did you boomer fud moron that drafted up that image realize rocket propelled grenades, and 40 mm grenades were a thing? I mean, even in WW2 they would just use a howitzer down the street to directly blast the fuck out of buildings that enemy occupants were using to fire from in urban environments.
Probably would be vastly better to build a gabion wall, because that would be a huge pain in the arse if you ever had to run cables or do basically anything with a wall filled with pebbles.
[laughs in Pavlov's House]
Hire Rogal Dorn
I was thinking about this earlier today. One of the finer points would be to have a two story house and have a solid banister at the top of the stairs like pic related tho preferably longer. After the explosives went off in the front door as they knocked it in - oh yeah, rig your front door with explosives - they would regroup and lead with a riot shield. As they came up the stairs the front man would be forced to have the shield in front of him and wouldn't be able to see you because of the solid banister. As they approached the top you'd use a high power rifle to shoot them from the side through the banister. After 3 or 4 shots, approximating the positions of the 2nd and 3rd man in the line, you'd throw a grenade over the banister to kill any survivors and knock out the stairs. From there I have no fucking idea, but yeah. Maximum shall is always a last stand so...
Is there a larger version of this?
>Riot shield
Stop playing Siege. Start reading Siege, faggot.
They wouldn't fuck around with any of that shit. They would just burn you out. Or eventually starve you out. Why would they give you the advantage?
Put security film on the windows; it isn't all that expensive & should at least slow down any intruders long enough for you get your guns ready.
Go test some of your own and you will see how good they work. The gravel in the walls is a freaking miracle
Nice
>Build a brick or cinder block wall around your property
>Keep your car parked up against the interior of your gate so they can't ram through it as easily
>Set up a camera system so you know who you're dealing with when they press the intercom or breach the gate
>Build your house from something solid
>Reinforce your exterior doors - steel-cored wooden doors are cheap, look like normal doors and won't fall to a swat battering ram.
>Reinforce your windows - that's the next obvious target if your door doesn't open. Security film, bars, shutters, whatever. FIlm is probably the best - it's not the most secure but bars look like ass and shutters will be open unless you're expecting trouble.
>Own a gas mask - if they can't get in then they'll try to smoke you out
I feel like that would be enough to give a pretty good account of yourself. If you're tipping into the realm of fantasy then dragging something in .50 BMG to an upper storey window would let you pick them off despite whatever plates they're wearing.
Really though, the key is an external wall or fence. If you can talk to them while they're still outside your property then you find out what they're here for much earlier and have that much more time to load up. Won't be caught by surprise like OPs poor sap.
If SHTF and anyone's assaulting my property then I can at least be confident they won't make it through the gate without me knowing. Chances are I'll be able to start firing while they're still trying to cross the lawn.
They are also just going to teargas the fuck out of you. Better own a good gas mask and lots of spare cartridges. And the capsaicin is still going to fuck up your skin with prolonged contact.
The best offense is a good defense
>MFW no GW-chan gf
OP, convert your house into a bunker from the ground up. If your in burgerland and have that shitty wood outer then leave that on as camouflage so they do not know what they are entering until it is too late. Have a safe room and be well stocked on provisions too.
Your best option for survival likely is focusing on escaping.
SHTF watchers found a clear take away from Ukraine. If you fortify your house too much you don't become invincible, you just become a massive artillery target. The same logic applies domestically.
With the understanding that your defense cannot ultimately counter their firepower your defense should act as a time buying deterrent to get you out of the area. Significant enough to give you time but not so significant as to make your opponent declare 'fuck this, just get the big guns.'
Tunnel now live later.
Build a reinforced concrete pill box in the basement with nbc protection.
Or venting system that sucks the gas out and blows it into the front yard.
>The best offense is a good defense
Killdozer, meet killbun/k/er
Proper furniture.
Side note: if you have a dirt crawl space, well get some picks and shovels and a 1000 study baggies. You need to bulk up, everything is available with a little work and 0 outside attention.
Tannerite and ball bearings in an airshit tacvest on a convincing armed mannequin while you crawl to freedom
You can always add brick or stone facade to the front of a house.
I have two heavy oak dining room tables that I can tip over. Those plus the stone on the front of my house should stop most pistol rounds.
Doors made of tannerite, raifu, and co2 cartridge bombs for easy booms
I would really really REALLY recommend against filling your walls with gravel
>I would really really REALLY recommend against filling your walls with gravel
Why?
It certainly sounds odd but I'm no builder, what's the specific problem?
>Start reading Siege, faggot.
>How To Die When The Police Raid Your House Because You're A Terrorist: The Romanticized Novel
Because 1/2" sheetrock is not designed to hold a hundred-odd pounds of gravel pushing against it. And good fucking luck if a pipe breaks or you need electrical work done.
>shitskin
the enemy having to bring a howitzer
sure beats being killed by small arms
also the rest of the world doesn't live in mud huts and cardboard houses
How about if you packed the gravel into brick-sized bags before filling the walls?
That way the bags would contain the outward pressure and be much easier to remove if needed.
I hate to break it to you guys, but there's a reason fortresses were nigh on useless in WWI. it was a stationary target that was easily crumbled. if you're building it as a societal defense LARP, then you will probably be fine. if you are building it in hopes it will protect you against a hostile military force...well we've all hopefully seen the houses destroyed in the middle east from drone strikes over the last few decades.
That might work, but at that point I would just say you should buy a hundred-year-old all-brick house, it would be easier.
Well, having a house that's not built with twigs, plywood and cardboard would be a good start.
But as a shart-in-marter this might be way above your capabilities.
Hardibacker cement board under the sheetrock
4" lay flat tubing filled with sharp sand is ideal in a stud wall. It also has the side benefit of soundproofing the fuck out of your walls.
The point of fortresses isn't to be unassailable. Nothing is. The point is to force the enemy to use so many resources to destroy/take it that it is uneconomical for them to successfully assault it. For example, if you fortify your house to the point where it's easier to destroy it then to take it, you are fortified enough. The government can only smoke/burn you out if you don't have an escape route, and unless SHTF in a major way, they will not use heavy weapons due to public image problems.
Use hanger strap to keep it in place. Job done.
I also liked the idea of a ceramic shiplap along exterior wall.
This. It's about respect, not impregnability
It’s more for keeping them at bay while I run away
Normal resin/stone cladding or an extra course of bricks would likely do as much and be much cheaper. Once your walls are trapping bullets probably the next step is to work on fireproofing and forced ventilation.
Besiegers having having to brute force their way through the fortifications with heavy artillery proves that the defense was successful against regular infantry. If the defenders would've had something to counter the howitzer with, it could've played out differently.
About those rpg's and 40mm grenade launchers, they sure pack some punch, but to obliterate a well built house with them (one that is not made out of cardboard or mud) would still require some serious pounding even if it is not fortified. Even the practice targets hastily put together from plywood we used in army for practicing with said weapons stood up surprisingly well. They are made to be used against lightly armored, or unarmored targets, not fortifications. It would honestly be just easier to bring in the heavy artillery, rather than trying to take down makeshift bunker like in the pic with light grenades.
What I am surprised about how no-one has pointed out that covering your floors with multiple layers of sandbags might be not that good of an idea, unless you are absolutely sure that the structural integrity of the building can take that.
That would be pretty funny
I’ve considered burning down my neighbors’ houses if shit were to seriously hit the fan. I live at the end of a dead end street so if my neighbor’s house right next to me was gone then I’d have huge clearance around me to ward off approach. This would be in the absolute worst situation though because I wouldn’t want the fire department at the end of the street getting involved or my neighbor for burning down his house for that matter. I would just hope it wouldn’t spread to my house but it shouldn’t if done controlled. Then I could burn down the whole street if it came to it and clear the woods providing the only other cover and I’d have a huge no man’s land around my house
You’re better off just staying inside giant apartment complex or something
You can flee from room to room as building is demolished
How expensive is a BMG in this day and age currently?
US national security is notoriously poor when it comes to non-aircraft based heavy munitions and dealing with armored vehicles. Whenever someone in a heavy vehicle like the Killdozer or the M60 tank hijack comes about, they're basically given a whole day to attack a city at-will until either the National Guard scrambles F-16s or Apaches to counter them or they get stuck. Bureaucracy works against the police in this case, and it would at least take a day before they were able to bring in artillery, likely more if your house is situated in a place where they can't risk collateral damage, preventing them from just bombing you from the skies, and even more in the case that they have no howitzers at the local base/armory.
not having shotgunshell claymores in the front panel of each step triggered by weight sensors
pleb
>looks like the government collapsed
>wait..honey why is user pointing a flare gun at our house?
Serbu RN50 is quite the affordable recreational anti-material rifle
Don't forget to spray down what you can of your house and yard beforehand with your hose
How could you hire someone who doesn't exist? It makes no sense, little one.
Just have some fire extinguishers on hand desu
Secure your windows faggot
are dragons teeth and etc worthwhile?
to at least slow people down?
Its not the door thair fails, it's the shitty locks and deadbolts that are available to consumers.
>Reinforce your exterior doors - steel-cored wooden doors are cheap, look like normal doors and won't fall to a swat battering ram.
Don't forget the wooden frame
