You can buy it privately, or have it gifted to you by famalam. Just can't buy it from a dealer, and the 72hr wait still applies, private or not. Some peeps aren't comfortable with selling an 18-20yr old a handgun because they're fudds and don't know anything.

I've done like 4 armslist deals recently. It's been smooth every time. you need a FOID if you're buying. You need to send your FOID card to the seller and they'll verify your FOID # on the ISP website:
