Anyway, if you have the mechanical ability of a coon, you should be able to assemble it with the slide cover plate off, look inside while you pull the trigger, and see exactly why it isn't firing.

They sell both. You can buy drop-ins and you can buy ones that need to be fitted to eliminate all the trigger over travel. That one is the latter.
Not lying. First rule of ANY new gun is strip it and sand any rubbing or sliding parts with 400grit to reduce friction.
They do sell finished products -- but you can't reduce overtravel much with a drop-in product, because of the combined tolerances on all the other parts.
They also sell products with some fitting required, which will give a nicer end result, but takes more work. One fitted to one gun may have excessive overtravel, or not fire at all, when put in another gun -- so they supply it long, and you adjust it to fit. If you didn't wanna do that work, should've got a drop-in connector instead.
The other big thing for 1911 is removing that fucking stupid series 80 safety system. Takes a whole pound out

A trigger job, on any gun, requires sanding and polishing surfaces to reduce friction, between the sear, disconnected, and hammer as well as the slide/bolt.

Yeah the sear, disconnector, and trigger spring, but friction caused by machining practices, and coatings on parts by manufacturers also need to be smoothed out. Springs get broke in over time just like moving parts, the difference is springs do not experience friction.

I've been a machinist for 6 years and you don't fix surface finish by sanding or stoning because that will butt fuck your geometry and scrap the part. if you can feel a burr with your fingernail, stone it lightly just until the burr is gone. the object is to DEBURR without altering any surfaces. this fucking "hurr durr sand down all your parts because you know better than the people who make guns for a living" is how you get unsafe non functional guns.
