How do American filmmakers acquire new guns like this? I thought machine guns made after 1986 weren't legal in USA, yet you see guns like AA-12 constantly in movies.

Do you not know what a prop is?

Omg you're right. How did Star Wars get a hold of a fucking death ray? ATF needs to visit George Lucas right fucking now!

So when they fire modern guns like G36c in movies, it's always a fake one? I don't think so.

You can get a license for new machine guns, which is what Hollywood armories do if they want the real deal. CA law basically doesn't apply to them, so they're fine.

Either non-functioning replicas and CG in the gunfire or contracting a special effects company to make a replica that will only ever fire blanks and therefore won't be considered a "firearm"

i wouldn't say always, but it certainly happens

Thats because you're stupid. Otherwise you wouldn't have made this thread.

How hard is it for an average US citizen to acquire such license?

>war ready waaaaar reeeeaaaaddiii

They film in Canada where their movie gun industry is able to get more foreign guns.

What did I do wrong? I ask because I don't know and want to know how this is possible.

I would assume that film armorers rent them from FFLs, or something similar.

It's expensive and you become an FFL. It's generally only done for business purposes, but I don't know if there's any specific requirement that you need to make money off it, but there's a reason every Tom, Dick and Cleetus doesn't have one.

FPS Russia has such a license for his show, and there are "machine gun ranges" in places like Las Vegas and Los Angeles that may also have one.

TL:DR, unless you're currently waffling on whether or not you want a third Lambo, you probably can't get one.

Impossible. Jews are abovw fhe law though so Hollywood can do whatever they want.

>hey, you know what would improve this movie about giant robots punching monsters?
>adding aggravating kids!
>and an annoying black guy!
>china saving the world!
>and let's just make all the robots jump around like they don't weigh anything
god fucking dammit

>FPS Russia has
*had*
He turned out to be a marijuana addict :(

You need to have proof of business activity. That is, you need to buy and sell. You don't need to turn a profit. I'm sure there are rich people who have one just to get the good stuff and half assedly sell other post 86 samples to each other for no real profit just to have transactions on the books.

It's not Lambo money but it is still nothing to sneeze at.

hollywood being exempted from gun laws is just (((nepotism)))

Honestly doesn't surprise me since he used to play Modern Warfare 2.

Hadn't heard about this.

So he noguns now?

When he gets out of jail do you think he'll do archery videos?

Weapon prop companies are literally very specialised international arms dealers, that's how.

He'll never make a video again to save his legacy

Do you seriously think that film studios would have access to genuine select fire G36C’s? They are props you half wit, most of the shit they would do with it wouldn’t even involve a bullet anyway, they learned their lesson after Bruce Lee’s son got killed by a squib. Most of his stuff came in through a buddy who died, his first run in with the ATF was from that. The second run in involved illegal drugs a few years ago, but IIRC he’s out and doing some side project. But fpsrussia died after that first run in.

Non-firing replicas mostly.

Most of the "assault rifles" are actually props
There are three basic types

1. Realistic PLASTIC replicas
They dont function at all

2. Blank firing weapons , these guns can only fire blanks , a regular round wont even chamber into them.
( These are used when the director wants the show the round being ejected)

3. "Pop Guns" that don't even fire a blank , they actually use propane to create a pop and muzzle flash , since propane burns slower it's easier for the camera to see the flash and the size of the flash can be dialed in by adjusting the regulator. ( and they dont have to be reloaded every time the director says "cut" )

Are the machine guns in the photo also replicas?

It’s called a blank gun. You can buy fully automatic blank firing uzis and they’ll ship them to your house no FFL. Now go to bed spic...

I mean sure, there's a lot of CGI muzzle flash in movies(especially notable when the gun doesn't cycle like in Crank for example) as well as blank-firing replicas/pop guns, but from what I know, there are people/companies who own real ones, I mean, FPSRussia has fired not one but two AA-12s, so... it must be possible somehow to own them.

I don't understand why the french army chose the HK416 over the Thales F90

The films aren't necessarily filmed in the US
IIRC most of the outdoor stuff for Alien Covenant was filmed in NZ.

I don't know what Movie/TV firearm licensing is like in NZ but even in places like the UK that have draconian firearms laws, they have things like a "Section 5" licence that allows certain businesses that do firearms-related work (such as TV/Film armorers, defence contractors, scientific organisations etc.) to posses practically anything they need.
It's a question of having the right money, security arrangements and paperwork.

If it is made from a serialized receiver that was not demilled it is still a firearm which is why armorers are usually 07/02 FFLs

However this guy is also right You must get ATF approval for imports even if you are also an 08 FFL. So it's easier to just go to Canada.

Most of the blank fire and deactivated props are owned by a few companies and film studios just rent the guns for the filming. It wouldn't be nearly as cost effective to leave hundreds of the things sitting on their own property and then shuttle them around with the production. The owners can also modify or build new props depending on the studio requests.

What does F90 have over HK416 besides being bullpup and having easily changeable barrel?

By the way, I am not disparaging the F90, I just literally don't know its advantages besides these two.

If you have a class 3 ffl licence, you can import modern machine guns. You cant sell or transfer them except between other class 3 ffl holders.

AUGs are light pull semi / Hard pull full and the trigger pull all the way back to the second stage is really heavy.

Even semi isn't so great:

The rod extending rearward from the trigger which is the sear can be set under tension. What makes the AUG in particular have a heavy trigger pull are the dual hammer springs in the hammer pack. Trigger pull weight on the AUG is directly correlated to cocking pull weight. For semi only, replacing the hammer pack with a different design (such as the Steyr Precision hammer pack) can significantly reduce cocking pull weight.

Your fucking gay

no such thing exists you stupid cunt

It's mostly time and money.
What you need is an FFL Type 7 manufacturers licence and a Class 2 SOT (Special occupational taxpayer) that lets you deal in and manufacture NFA regulated firearms, including post-86 mgs.

The biggest challenge is you have to be technically "in the business" as a for-profit operation, and keep in mind getting an FFL (other than an 03 C&R) just to enhance your collection is a federal felony. Unless you live somewhere without restrictive zoning you will need a commercial address you own.

Now that you have all that done your biggest issue will be doing enough business on paper to stop ATF from trying to revoke your FFL, and remember you don't technically own those guns personally, your business does.

In addition to what others have said, a shitload of "Hollywood" movies are shot in other places around the world - the Southeastern US (Shreveport LA, Charleston SC, and Atlanta are popular ones), in Canada, in Australia and NZ, and in Eastern Europe. Many of those places have access to different guns and quite a few are willing to let film/TV productions have access to shit civilians never could, because they want those moviebux.

There are exceptions in virtually all gun laws for television and film production because if you’re rich and connected you can always find ways to make sure that burdensome laws won’t appy to you.

It took a long time to get a correct answer in this thread. Thanks for not being a faggot user.

The rest if y'all need jesus

Would the ATF come down on my ass if the only business was between a group of friends and I all selling each other full autos?

Most likely yes, keep in mind you can't sell post-86MGs to anyone except other SOTs and government/state agencies. ATF has no clear definition of being "in the business". To be safe you would probably do at least a dozen transactions/sales a year but I'd consult a lawyer.

in addition to proving you have (legal) customers, you'd have to maintain a brick and mortar store with at least some amount (30, IIRC?) of staffed office hours.

>use your body in a way uncle sam doesn't like
>lose your property

I hate this country.

>You can buy fully automatic blank firing uzis
How did I not know automatic blank guns were a thing?

Fucking sucks. According to arfcom, the company bringing these beauties to the US went through a ownership change and the ATF still a bit muddled on what part to serialize on.

>Some rando you've never met MAILS you an envelope of hash
>ATF raid your property same day
>Use hash as justification for confiscating all your guns
>Just months after the guy responsible for obtaining said guns was murdered in his store under mysterious circumstances
>"He turned out to be a marijuana addict"
Indeed, just like the Branch Dravidians were all racist pedophiles and Trump paid a prostitute to piss on Obamas bed. #ImWithHer #FuckH8
